I think letting Japan keep the former Daimyo's colour is low key 1 of the best changes PDX made to the game. It's nice to see different colours painting the world sometimes.

@@EnderPlayerTV If you form it with So then yeah. It's whatever colour the Daimyo you formed it as was. There's a decision for the first few years to change colour to normal japan colour if you want to.

Though your colony in Alaska will be your navies and yous switch your ideas to be a beast on land. (for those who don't know Alaska have 20% morale of navies, +25% naval force limit, +15% sailor, +10% Heavy ship combat ability +15% light ship combat ability and kinda usefull in land with - 15% dev cost, - 20% core cost, +15 land fire damage)

Issue is Alaska economy is really poopy (Habibi himself says Californian land is not contested because of that) and Japan’s economy isn’t great, so it ends up in a “both the colony and the overlord are weak” scenario.

Huh, I saw it when playing modded so just assumed it was from some of them. I think I've only got it once.

Pretty neat how you had like an alternate timeline spain portugal relationship, with close neighbors occuping the same trade node both having colonial empires staying allied the whole time

I just finished playing a tall Japan game (okay, custom nation but I started with little land) and made a point of only taking islands that are still Japanese plus Sakhalin. I have Taiwan as a vassal, Korea as an ally, and Ming as the dumb ally that no matter how many centuries I spend saving keeps getting obliterated by rebels. It’s been fun, I tried to keep a solid eastern block against Western hegemony, had to fight Russia plenty of times to save Ming and Korea and ended up creating a vassal state that covers all of Pacific Russia. The least developed province I have has 50 developments, with Kyoto and Tokyo having 90, my provinces covering 4 of the top5 most deved and all of them being in the top half of the most deved page It was really fun, I will do it again once the new DLC is out

I tried something similar with Croatia, they need a more complete mission before it's really fun but hre, Otto, and a rocky start make it pretty fun (though trade nodes are driving me crazy, like why don't Italians want to trade with me, and why would my people want to trade period).

Ive come to counter the shoguns autonomy shit by not dtating anything in japan untill i unify. This does mean less show of strength but it also means much much faster unification since i free up allot of admin. By doing that i never get more than +10 autonomy since you cant go to 110, the cap is 100 and 10 autonomy will probably leave by the time i full state everything or if im in a rush i can manually full state and then go and reduce autonomy

Admittedly, I don't think I'm getting any cost reduction from ideas. Running espionage, admin, quant, influence, humanist

I prefer Oda for single player as they have core cost reduction and war score cost on top of god generals and other good ideas. Oda is by far my favorite in Japan. However in MP you kind of need to go Uessgi or Hosokawa or Yamana to unify fast while being able to scale. Out of those 3 Uesegi still has really good MP ideas.

I still dont understand how the numbers scalate so quickly in multiplayer, the meta is so far superior to my knowledge of this game (I have 2200 hours and maybe 5 are in multiplayer)

The red for Japan imo is a little washed out esp compared to Oda's starting color. Tbh literally any Daimyo color would be a plus (except the poopy brown/grey ones)

White Japan is better because it's more consistent with their creation myth for the islands.

Standard Japan color is better imo

Japan is my favorite region. Okay, my profile picture speaks for itself, but that's totally unrelated. I just like the fast paced early game, actually using show strength more than once, and the late game power I also like conquering China while scorching every province, but that's neither here nor there
