Quite honestly, we're living in pre-war years. WWIII is on our doorstep. If you study pre WW1 and pre WW2 its a lot of small things that added-up, little things here and there, a reaction to a reaction to a reaction, a 'we must' here and a 'we should' there, countless weak and venal politicians, business people etc... and before you know it... well, what you thought could never happen is happening, and everything we thought we knew is just, over.

From what I've heard (indirectly as a result of a dimbulb asking some top brass at a dinner about 'invading Iran' at a certain AFB): look for the US to withdraw forces from Iraq/Saudi Arabia and other nearby states if they are planning on military action against Iran. It's counter-intuitive, but they don't think their bases in the region will have any real defences against Iranian missile strikes.

The war industry is one of the main pillars of the US economy, and it has been growing since J.P. Morgan bought up defective rifles and then resold those rifles to the US government during the Civil War. “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. "The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some 50 miles of concrete highway. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people." "This, I repeat, is the best way of life to be found on the road that the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron." -President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 'A Chance for Peace'

I served two tours in Iraq. Invading Iran would be NOTHING like the invasion of Iraq. Iran has a population of 76 million, roughly three times that of Iraq. The geography of Iran is mountainous and rugged. With most of the population centers residing in the central plateau of the country. Iraq geographically is a flat dessert. Iraq once had a very formidable military but was basically neutered during the Persian Gulf war. While Iran is doesn't posses as much advance equipment as the US, it is still in a lot better shape than Iraq was in 2003. Iran has several allies in the area in Syria and Lebanon. Not to mention Iran has strong economic and military ties with Russia. Iraq was alone with no strong allies.

Minor corrections: There are many missiles named Ra'ad, RAAD, etc. Iran has both the Ra'ad and the RAAD. The RAAD which you are talking about is wire guided, but you are showing the anti-ship cruise missile called the Ra'ad. You state the Ra'ad "wire guided anti-tank missile" has a range of 350 km. There is no wire-guided missile with a range of more than maybe 10 km, and the 350 km Ra'ad missile is designed as an anti-ship missile with a turbofan for propulsion.

What exactly is the point of a military simulation, if you are going to handicap the opponent. By definition, the opponent isn't going to play by your rules in war, so trying to simulate such a situation would be pointless.

The point is that military big wigs don't want to appear incompetent, so they handicap the red team. This happens all the time in all sorts of organizations. Society is complex, so people in charge can subtly rig the game to make it seem like they are geniuses. Then they retire with a lot of money and kick the can down the road for someone else, who rinse and repeat.

When you run a simulation you're doing a learning exercise. So some restrictions might be put in place to find out what would happen if the landing succeeded etc. In this case, it sounds like they're trying to make the simulation more realistic. If tensions are rising and the US moves aircraft carries into your waters you might immediately attack them, or you might hesitate hoping you don't have to go to war with the most powerful military in the world. For example

The section about the Ra'ad is incorrect. There are no wire-guided ATGMs with a range of anywhere near 350km, and that looks nothing like a Malyutka. I suspect they have two separate missiles called Ra'ad and you have combined the information about them into one. Edit: I checked and yes, the Ra'ad ATGM looks nearly identical to the Malyutka and has a 400-3,000 meter range.

I think this a great video, but I feel some details were missing about Iran's capabilities that make this war very dangerous for the US and the world. 1. This war is primarily going to be fought from the sea. Iran uses small boats and drones that will swarm and harass our ships in the water. Not to mention some of them are suicide boats and drones. Our aircraft carrier strike groups are ill prepared to handle a swarm attack. 2. Iran will likely place mines in the Straight of Hormuz which will cause massive economic damage as the Straight is a major corridor for trade and oil exports. Expect gas to go through the roof. 3. If Iran wins the war, they will be taking control of a number of oil fields that are vital to the USA. We may also see that our middle eastern partners are not as loyal as you think which would be a huge blow to USA hegemony.
