What Happens After Someone Dies Alone? | Dead Alone In Singapore - Part 2/3 | Full Episode

Trauma cleaner Rahman Razali meets a new client - Bobby. Bobby’s distant aunt died alone and was undiscovered for a few days. After her home has been thoroughly disinfected, Bobby searches for clues about how to settle his aunt’s affairs - and makes some surprising discoveries about a woman he hardly knew.
Meanwhile, eldercare programme executive Linda Tan receives an urgent request for assistance with the funeral of a complete stranger. An elderly man with no next-of-kin was found dead in a public toilet. Linda knows nothing about this man. Can she give him a respectful farewell?
As he deals with an increasing number of funerals for the lonely dead, 26-year-old funeral director Jack Lee finds himself grappling with his feelings about dying - and living - alone. What
will he choose to do to raise awareness about an unfortunate phenomenon?
In Part 2 of this series, afterlife service providers show us what it takes to put the lonely dead to rest - regardless of faith and financial status.

CNA, I want to applaud you for doing a series about lonely deaths and shedding light on the issues and the people who do the very difficult but critically important work that comes with each death in the community, be it the cleaning up or helping to take care of their last rites/funeral etc. I'm very very heartened to know we have such caring, kind and compassionate people in Singapore to help those who have passed on, on their own. Thank you very much to all of you for all that you do because it must not be easy on you.

I noticed that there haven't been many comments about Marie. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to her. Coming to a foreign land and helping our fellow Singaporeans is truly commendable. It's even more noteworthy than what many Singaporeans do. Thank you, Marie, for stepping up beyond nationalities to help Uncle Peter. May you be blessed with health and happiness 🫡

I remembered when I was a young nursing aide in an old age home. I sent an elderly off..all the way to the grave yard..it felt good. That was the only time needed. Thankfully my two years there..all who passed on..had relatives to take them away! I myself am in my sixties now! Feeling good also. May all have a good day

I dont mind to die alone neither do i wish to live long. As a healthcare worker i have seen many patients regretted living well. Living life FULLY while alive is more important than dying. Death is part of living and we donno when will we go or who is around us when we go. Rip to the deceased. It is very inportant to do Advanced care planning when one is still sane and healthy so that should they pass on, the family members will know what to do and what the deceased wish for.

One of the rare uncommon welfare organisation whom has done a lot throughout the years for anyone . If not for this documentary perhaps nobody actually knew its existence except the beneficiaries and patrons. It has came long way first founded from Cheng Hong Siang Tng Temple. Yes it is Buddhism welfare society. But because to practise the sacred teachings of Song Dafeng to help others. They consolidate all programmes and resources to emerge as Cheng Hong welfare society and deciding to not mentioning too much on religion. This is to reach out to more needy people regardless of RACE and RELIGION, an important decision for closeness and true equality love, A selfless act of 大爱。 It don’t require one to be a Buddhist to seek help and certainly not to be one as a prospect, everyone is equal and respected for what they are who they were. It doesn’t matter. if everyone would kindly donate or volunteers , it would really do practical good to those in need . As I am grateful to be a Singaporean, I am proud as a Chinese and Buddhist who follow the teachings of Buddhism and Chinese cultural traditions to help others regardless of their race, language and religion. 🙏

Appreciate this series and all that Cheng Hong staff/volunteers are doing to help the deceased have a dignified send-off. May I suggest for Cheng Hong staff/volunteers to carry a pair of gloves, in case you need to handle the belongings of the deceased? This is to protect yourselves as there may be bodily fluids on the items. Unfortunately, as our nation grows more developed, more people are becoming isolated. I'm afraid I will be one of those people who might die alone. I am not old yet but would like to draft a Will, in case anything happens. It's difficult because I have pets and I worry about what will become of them should something happen to me. I have neither family nor close friends.

Definitely the number of elderlies dying alone will rise significantly especially in e next 10-20 years when my baby boomer generation will be in our 70s n 80s. Not enough is being done to help elderlies to inform someone when they are in danger before dying. We need a type of monitoring system by what's app where if an elderly doesn't 'check in' by what's app, e authorities or organization will call elderly, if no answer, then someone must go to the home of e elderly to check. I'm sure this digital service can be invented easily n offered to elderlies so some organization can be alerted when the elderly don't check in digitally. So at least the body is discovered within a day or two n not a few weeks which will inconvenience the neighbors. This will affect me directly as I'm an elderly single lady living alone w no children n not close to family members n few friends. I always hope that I will die in hospital n not at home. I don't want my decomposing body to inconvenience my neighbors n other ppl.

He says that way cause he's in charge of muslim burials and answering questions given by CNA in their Muslim burials perspective, they can also do Muslim burials. If CNA interview a taoist or hindu priests, they will also say the same for their own religions. Cheng Hong handles all death of any religion so that why you hear them talking about all religion.

In land scarcity Singapore, Muslims are the only ones who can do land burial. Others all have to be cremated/sea burial without a choice. Yet some of them like saying they’re treated badly/oppressed :(

Not true, there are some with 8 kids and all 8 die before them and then they die alone also. Or all 8 kids never even bother to visit or call and then the elderly will die alone also. Have kids or no kid, it's whether the kid visit the parent or not. 😢

True I even encountered some end up divorced, or even married with children do you really think nowadays kids will take care of the parent. Why nowadays some elderly know they have to be independent on themselves even they might have kids.
