Flair was way bigger star in territory days and sting coming there as young guy outside of this business who was not tailor made pro wrestling guy or liked by veterans and no one could understand his hype but dusty and flair did and oh boy ric put him on map. It’s a small detail, but I appreciate how Punk actually stayed down and took a beating from 2.0. In any other promotion with any wrestler with an ego, they would’ve had their “hulk up” moment and started whooping in a 3-1 assault, but not Punk. Punk’s going out of his way to make the young guys look good, and I appreciate that.

Another small but excellent detail: when the beat down was happening and then Darby's music played for the save, the heels didn't stand there with their mouths open like idiots. Instead, Garcia instructed 2.0 to take care of business on the outside while he handled Punk alone in the ring. Subtlety. That's missing today in wrestling.

Seeing Sting and CM Punk together in the same ring together gave me chills, bro. One of the best wrestling moments in 2021

Really are you that excited that you waited nearly 8 years for CM Punk to return to wrestling and his first match is with the scrawniest, smallest, metro sexual looking wrestler in the world. On top of that clearly Punk is winning so what does this gain. There is no feud. Punk wants to fight him because he reminds him of himself and he's his favorite wrestler. Why not have Punk kick the shit out of him early and say "You're never gonna be like me". And then say he's back to set the record straight that he truly is the best in the world and go on a tear as a loner beating everyone. Punk also slipped up with a smile when Sting said it was good to see a GTS right before his eyes. It's so dope to see someone with the star power of Punk being excited to be acknowledged by a legend like Sting. This has been great booking so far. I hope Punk and Darby have a dope match. I could see it when Punk told him the most dangerous thing he could do was wrestle CM Punk.

Sting has found the perfect balance for the 'legend' wrestler - keeping himself relevant, while recognizing that it's not his spotlight anymore, and fueling those that follow. Allin has perfected the staredown, the calm intensity. Does he need Sting? No. But is he benefited by him? Yes. Punk... remains to be seen completely, as he's still in the honeymoon adulation period after his return, and hasn't really adopted a gimmick yet, but hopes are high, and the talent is definitely still there.

@@JacobBen94 MMA is more than just fighting. CM Punk simply didn't possess the necessary skills in order to succeed wheras in wrestling he is trained and therefore is believable. Brock Lesnar got destroyed by Alistair Overreem way worse than Punk did by Gall or Jackson. Is he not believable enough for you?

Sting looks amazing, after that brawl sting didn’t even look winded. Punk looks like he’s in a much better place mentally. He actually looks happy and in shape 💪🏽

He also has a dynamic and edgy personality in which made him popular you know? If brooks didn’t have a ego , would he be the cm punk that everyone loves , eh Idk.

I love the slow burn that AEW has been doing with Darby. They've put a lot of time and effort into him, and it's bearing fruit. Pairing him with Sting was a brilliant move. Futures bright for the kid. He's going to be world champion one day.

Darby looks like a little kid standing up to his dad for the first time 😂

Sting/Taker is the real dream match that didn’t happen. If we could go back to the 04-05 time range, Sting/Rock or Sting vs a young Orton would have been interesting also. Never thought of Sting vs Punk, but that would have been interesting.

AEW literally dragged me back into wrestling over the last couple of years after a decade and a half not giving a snuff... and boy am I thankful they did. 😁

GTS is CM Punk's best move. And it's great to see it again.

Crazy thing is, as dark as he looks, that is just the Stinger personality. Like that is how he did promos with the blonde-hair and colorful facepaint. Even when I was watching Wolfpac red and black Sting in 1998 when I was in Junior High, I always thought his appearance and his personality were so diametrically opposed haha.

Never in a million years would I think I would see CM Punk, Sting and Darby all in a ring together it’s so fucking amazing
