yoojung has really really soooo much to offer and is constantly booked and busy, and i'm really happy for that. i just hope the other members get to shine a lot too. suyeon is a vocal legend -- where are the OSTs? lua dancing machine -- where are the covers? there is sooo much potential for all of them but fantagio is looking for profit (astro, ong seungwoo) than pushing a group up in promotions...

this is why gugudan disbanded. only sejeong got all the attention and some attention to mina as well. no one knew the other members. even i don’t. the same thing is happening to weki meki. all the attention is going to doyeon and yoojung. doyeon even got casted in my roommate is a gumiho. and again, i literally don’t know any members besides doyeon and yoojung. i know some names but idk their faces, meaning others don’t know the rest of the members even more.

Weki Meki have been really busy with their solos activities this year. Yoojung has been MC in plenty of varieties shows. Doyeon has been casted in three dramas, Lucy two movies, then Elly and Sei in a webdrama it’s hard to have a comeback when everyone is so busy so that’s why it took a while for a new comeback. They announced recently that they are preparing a comeback so let’s all support them !!

you failed to mention a lot of things that contributed to this: - how they literally created coined the term "teen crush" in kpop and everyone credits them for that, they brought something completely new to table - the fantagio 2018 scandal - the shift and "natural" decrease of sales when a group goes from a mini to solo albums - the rest of the solo work they have been doing in conclusion, this video felt very empty. how are you going to title something "what happened" and then ended it with "i dont know..."? it feels like you didnt do your research and also chose the history covered very carefully to make meaningless conclusions

Their debut IDLYGF was polarizing and I was on the love it side. Speaking of love it/hate it, I wish Picky had gained more traction. Such a rollicking bop and a well done, hilarious video. My favorite of their singles. Their b sides jave depth too.

Everyone was super confused by Weki Meki’s concept since the start since it wasn’t quite girl crush but it wasn’t cute or pure either. Not to mention their debut song was kinda messy but they improved that a ton. I genuinely think they helped start the rise of the “teen crush” concept but with newer groups coming out with similar concepts and “noise music” the attention def shifted away from them unfortunately. Hope to hear more from them soon!

Nice point, IDLYG is slow, then fast, then rap . But somehow I like Weki meki . I've noticed they're a kind girl group . More power to their careers

Honestly I just think it stems from not having a breakout hit song that sort of becomes a reference point. Sure, their fans can discuss on and on about how much they love their music but it is contained in that bubble. Not a single Weki Meki song has solidified itself in the consciousness of the public (the audience they want to win over). I mean, hits can happen unexpectedly. Brave Girls Rollin’ or EXID’s Up & Down pretty much revived those groups from near disbandment. Or it could be like Momoland, who truly broke out with Bboom Bboom but failed to keep up the momentum. Regardless, WM doesn’t stand out because no song they’ve been given has stood out to really put them in a league higher than where they are now.

i honestly don’t understand how they got less and less popular when the music was getting better in my opinion

We never forgot. Fantagio just gave up on them as a group. They continue to be one of my favourite groups of all time, they're on almost all of my playlists, I rewatch their dance practices and live stages constantly and watch their vlogs whenever I can. I suppose I just wish that they would release more music as a group. Their last album may haven't been a smash hit, but it had some of the best tracks on it I have listened to in a long while. It's definitely worth the listen if you're looking for new music. Kpop is confusing, you never really know whats gonna stick with audiences, but I know that Weki Meki has star power and a unique sound with talented members.

Weki Meki deserves SO much more its actually insane. In a way, they remind me a lot of F(x). They have such an unconventional sound that I know years down the line people will say, "the group was ahead of its time". Unfortunately, we live in a k-pop time where the bigger companies shine with their groups. Fantagio is only surviving because of Astro and Eunwoo, and Doyeon lets be real. They are the most exploited and over worked by their company. I hope the future is bright for Weki Meki. I heard they're in the process of preparing for a comeback so lets hope fans come out and support their album. Or they get a breakthrough song because this group deserves it.

Honestly cube is another thing entirely, if they can drop Soojin from the get go and basically not give G-idle a CB in 9 months (and counting), let alone CLC. They're bad basically and I heard that the decision to drop Soojin was already decided the moment that scandal came out and I still dk until this day if it's true or not

@@tcndiamond7726 that's a bad decision honestly bcs G-idle is like one of the leading 4th gen GGs can even compare to ITZY in terms of digitals and their album sales is one of the biggest if not biggest Cube has ever had (With Pentagon) and then they dropped Soojin from the get go, as I said, I heard they dropped her weeks after the scandal came out, which means if Soojin didn't leave on her own will, cube didn't even bother to do fact checks and everything like Pledis. So yeah they're an abysmal company that's all I have to say lol

I first heard about them during their Crush era and OH MY GOD I was immediately hooked to them. It took a little while for them to climb up my personal tier list but they're definitely up there now. Their title tracks **chef's kiss** their b-sides **chef's kiss** their choreos **chef's kiss** and they also have great dynamics between the members. They certainly have the recipe. But in all honesty tho, I don't know what's needed for them to have their big break :( What I do think is that fantagio could've done way better in promoting these girls consistently. I've also heard this before that their fans only exists during comebacks and not during theor hiatuses :(

Cool came up on a Playlist a few weeks ago, and I've had it stuck on repeat ever since. Its such a good song, and I really wish it would have made them a top group! They deserve it.

New Rules is one of my favorite K-Pop EP's. Every track on it is a banger. The excellent English translation of "Cool/100 Facts" ranks right up there with the English version of Red Velvet's "Bad Boy", in my opinion. I saw one of their dance practice videos in which they performed "Cool" with astonishing synchronization. It's a shame such talented group isn't getting the attention they deserve.

8:11 I have a theory that's it's to do with streaming culture. Despite popular artists having a large fanbase, the fans still stream the music like mad. Not that the artist doesnt deserve the views but it makes it hard for smaller groups to chart since their smaller fanbase can't stream to the same extent. That's why I dislike streaming culture among large fanbases.

Hi! Great video, as a Ki-Ling(weki meki fan) myself, I can agree to alot of points that were raised. But Weki Meki has been doing well recently, they just had their 2nd Official FanClub recruitment as well as alot of activities for some of the members. Though, i feel like the video title is quite misleading, im sure a lot of people have not forgotten about Weki Meki, rather since the lack of activities, they are not a talking point as of recent.

They’re the first group I saw live and in person. It was amazing and I love them so much
