Many years ago I flew to Hawaii with my parents, stopping in LA. Tony Curtis came on the plane in LA and sat next to my Dad for the flight to Hawaii. They had a lot to speak about as my grandparents immigrated from what is now Slovakia (previously Czechoslovakia) and his mother from a part of Hungry that is now Slovakia. I have a picture of me sitting with him.

In June of this year we three years since my niece who was from Las Vegas committed suicide in my house in Mississippi... I have sent sold the house and moved North California and trying to make a life here.. in plumas county...

I know that cemetery well. My mom, dad and brother are buried there. You drove right past their places of rest at about the 14 minute mark, although they are back a ways from the road. I must have walked past Tony's grave a hundred times and never knew he was there, I just remember seeing that Shiloh bench. Thanks for sharing another interesting adventure/story with us Jordan! Keep up the great work!

*I was friends with Todd's Mother. Debbie was such a character.* She loved Liberache, if I recall correctly, she called him Libby. Always with an endearing note in her voice. I also knew Tony in his latter years he never lost his spunk. Last time I saw him we were getting our cars serviced at the Cadillac dealership on Sahara Avenue, in Las Vegas. I was married to an entertainer for 12 years, he was managed by Sinatra's people and through his work I met many folks un the industry. Many memories. Todd looks great, I send him most positve thoughts. Met him at Debbie's Casino, on Casino Center Drive. Fun times!

He was one good looking guy in his younger years that's for sure. I wonder why Tony cut his children out of his will and what did his will say, do you know? Maybe he left it to care for neglected and abused Horses. Thank you, Jordan, and Jah another great vlog and very informative! 😊 A special Thanks to Todd, he is awesome! Just a wealth of information. That story about Tony being within binocular-view of the signing of the Japanese surrender - did you know that Prince Phillip was actually on board of the ship and witnessed the signing of that surrender? I believe that Prince Phillip eventually met Tony Curtis during a royal command performance when the film “Houdini” debuted in 1963. Crazy serendipity, right?

An unforgettable Tony Curtis movie - a real gem - was "Captain Newman, M.D." (1963) with Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert, Bobby Darin & Angie Dickinson. It's set in 1944 with Gregory Peck playing a psychiatrist in charge of a neuropsychiatric unit at an Army Air Corps hospital in Arizona. This is a movie filled with pathos and laugh-out-loud comedy (much of the latter supplied by Tony Curtis). Bobbie Darin was a superb actor who left us too soon.

Jordan, this was very good, your hard work is truly appreciated by many. an old urban legend started by Debbie Reynolds that Tony in the movie The son of Ali Baba, he said " Yonder lies the land of my Faddah". Tony actually never said that, he spoke his lines quite well. Thought I'd put that to death for those that read my post. Being 80 I remember Eddie Fisher and the Coca Cola hour on early TV , I was a huge fan. Unfortunately the way he dumped so sweet a girl as Debbie and married Elizabeth Taylor I was among those who turned on him. Over the years I got over that and I have his last hit recording "Games That Lovers Play" in my 1961 Seeburg Jukebox.😛😛😛

Have you ever interviewed Todd before, and did he show you what's left of his mom's memorabilia collection? At a time when there was very little interest in movie memorabilia, Debbie had a genuine sense of the cultural value of the costumes, props etc she purchased. It's a real tragedy that she put so much money and effort into collecting so many items, only to end up selling them.

My favorite Tony Curtis story: Tony and Walter Matthau were friends when they were two struggling actors in New York. Tony went to Hollywood and became a star while Matthau was still in New York chasing acting jobs. One day, Tony was in a limo driving through Manhattan when he spotted Matthau walking down the street. He rolled down his window as he drove by and yelled "HEY WALTER, I FU**KED YVONNE DECARLO!"

I loved Tony Curtis. I saw so many of his movies in the local drive-in. Some of my favorites were "Operation Petticoat", "The Great Race", and "Boeing Boeing". It's funny how he made impressions of Cary Grant and then starred in "Operation Petticoat". His dysfunctional early life explains why his personal married life was so shallow. I just found your site. This is a nice break. I enjoy old Hollywood.
