Thank you for mentioning Baltimore's CFL team, eventually known as the Stallions, when talking about Memorial Stadium. They were the most successful part of the CFL's ill-fated expansion into the U.S., making the Grey Cup in both seasons of their existence and winning it in 1995. They likely would've lived on if Art Modell hadn't moved the Browns to the city.

I'm from Metro Detroit, their biggest mistake was thinking they could deflate the roof when not in use to save money. Wrong. A snowstorm ripped holes in it and the dumbasses from Canada who bought it for $555,000 from the dumbass emergency financial manager didn't fix it. For a little while from the mid-2000's to like 2012 it hosted minor league soccer, concerts and monster truck shows. I wish I had gone to some of those things but sadly I haven't been there since like 1998. I miss the building. It was the first and the largest of its type of stadium in not just the U.S. but the world. It hosted 1994 World Cup games. It held the largest indoor crowd record until Jerry World beat it like 5 years ago.

Shea Stadium, the Astrodome, and to a lesser extent the Kingdome, could also be considered part of the 1970’s ‘cookie cutter’ stadium boom. They were all circular and had similar moveable seating layouts to the others. Obviously Shea Stadium has that huge section cut out for the outfield, but completing the circle was an option if the Jets decided to make it their permanent home.

2017, before my dad became ill, I was learning online about the history of the legendary Silverdome. I went there that day of the failed implosion to see the stadium for first time. Way before I was born, my dad used to watch Barry Sanders play. 2017, we went to Ford Field for first time for my high school championship game. Since then, I wanted to take my dad to a Lions game, but he had pulmonary fibrosis, survived 2 lung transplants last year, and fought his final battle with chronic rejection back in June.

They started building a bridge across the highway from which a parking lot for the stadium used to be. The bridge is noticeably unique and I feel like it is foreshadowing something in the near future.

College stadiums tend to last, because their standards don't make them obsolete five years after they are built like the NFL does. They just stay adequate to watch football games and that is it. They aren't bound by the corporate elite like the NFL who has to have pleasure palaces built around a football field

The Detroit Lions played there from 1938-1974 winning 3 NFL Championships (1952, 1953, 1957) and hosted 2 NFL Championships Games in 1953 and 1957. The Tigers played there from 1912-1999 and the stadium was abandoned for a decade before being torn down in 2009. Today the Detroit Police Athletic League bought the site, maintained the field, constructed The Corner Ballpark where youth, high school and college sports are played. Also condos are being built along where the outfield stands used be, it's very cool.
