That's a plain lie Arabs were a minority in Egypt Egyptians didn't wanna speak Persian, Latin or Greek despite these nations conquering them for long time. But with how nice thr Arabs were to them and how much they loved Arabic language, they decided to learn it. This small amount alone is not enough to force an entire population of Egyptians to change their language to accomodate their rulers. In fact it took Egyptians generations which is around 200-300 years for them to fully change to Arabic/Egyptian dialect. This fact alone tells us that the people themselves wanted this change, no one forced them to abandon their language and religion. Whoever stayed loyal to their traditions are still alive till this day 10% of Egypt's population stayed on the Coptic Orthodox Christianity and they are still freely practicing their religion. If the Arabs were cruel blood thirsty sand warriors then non of them would had survived till this very day and they would have gone extinct like the Pharos have gone.

Smartest comment in the comment section, Muslims want their religion worldwide, so in their mind everyone goes to jannah and is saved, but then villainise pretty much every Christian for wanting the same. Empires like the British, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Etc are seen as extremely disgraceful, while the caliphates, Omani empire and Ottoman Empire practised slavery much later and earlier then these empires, didn’t have any sort of reform at all. Spain and Portugal didn't even exist when those territories were taken. Europe was going through a dissolution of an empire. That separation generated 3 other main ruling states. What , generally speaking, is known today as: - France - Italy - Germany It was during the reconquest that Portugal was founded. Which happened on 1139-1143(officially recognized). Spain on the other hand was founded on 1492.

Egypt was conquered in 641 by Muslims with an agreement with the people of Egypt and not forcefully. The byzantines were kicked out and the Christians of Egypt were happy about it. And till now Egyptian Christians still exist. Those who didn't accept Islam paid the jizya to the Islamic caliphate which is very normal because it is literally likely a tax. Everyone pays taxes to the government. During that time, some accepted Islam and some remained Christians and they were unharmed because of the agreement they haven't with Muslims. Now most of Egypt is Muslim.

And Omar ibn Al-Khattab رضي الله عنه allowed the churches to be kept, tell me how there are still surviving ancient churches in Egypt? What? There's still a sizeable Christian population in Egypt and their Coptic church is intact to this day. Christians and Muslims live side by side in Egypt. You've obviously never gone outside of your basement, but when I went to Alexandria, there was a huge Christian population

@@r.a1301 Most of the Christians and native inhabitants (males) were wiped out by the Rashidun Caliphate. I would imagine that it was some of the women that kept the Coptic tradition alive. The Coptic language is derived from the ancient Egyptian language.

When you consider in the 7th century Egypt was one of the most fertile places on earth and had an absolutely massive population. Compare this to the completely infertile land and tiny population from the Arab peninsula at the time. How the hell could they kill and replace all the Egyptians?

Its actually the opposite. When Christians came back, they turned spain into darkness. The Golden Age of spain was during the reign of Islam. So many beautiful poems were created at that time in Arabic, and saying how beautiful it is and how happy everyone live. But nope, chirstians came and ruined everything. Thank god the architects and old buildings that the muslims built are still there. Even Christians couldn't do the same lol

As a Spaniard I can say that in Alicante we celebrate "Christians and Moors" which is a massive event were we recreate the way we reconquered our town/city in those times, a piece of local history with lots of music, gunpowder, food and drink 🎉

Being Filipino, we inherited the tradition from Spain. Officially called, 'Moro(s) y Cristianos' but is more popularly called 'moro-moro'. Although it originally commemorated the reconquista of Iberia and victories over Muslims in the conquest of the Philippines, the themes of the Filipino versions are more fantastical tales.
