What Happened to the Mongols After Genghis Khan?

After Genghis Khan's death, his son Ögedei became the next leader of the Mongol Empire. He expanded the empire's territories, conquering parts of China and advancing into Europe. After Ögedei's death, a power struggle ensued, and Möngke, a grandson of Genghis, was elected as the new Great Khan. Möngke continued the expansion, capturing Baghdad and launching campaigns in China. However, disputes within the empire arose, and Möngke died in 1259, leading to the fragmentation of the empire and the rise of different regional Khanates.
