I used to own a i30n and I'm still on the group pages, and seen this guy, doing what was necessary to get his car up and going, fair play to him, he never begged for things, and seems a top bloke.

Great ending, glad we got to see him with a smile on his face again. Calvin, you are a great man…we need more Calvin’s in this world.👏

I've been on the road 49 years and taken several occupational licences , don't let one bad egg spoil your fun mate. Retired and still clocking up 10k a year batting between Lancashire and the Jurassic Coast....it's in my blood. Great news you're keeping the motor and staying positive.....respect 👍

Is it just me or can we now say this car has just hit legendary status in terms of giveaways snd builds? A great story. Richard seems such a nice guy and whilst the crash was a downer Im glad its coming good now. I knew Dazza would be involved again....it makes sense.

ive been driving trucks for 30 years and i would never try and come up the side, offside or nearside of a truck on a roundabout. even though we have large mirrors, there as still blind spots. for the time it takes, just hang back

As I said in the vid, it’s changed my faith in so called professional drivers tbh.. had a similar situation just last night with indicators going left and right sides.. 🤦🏼‍♂️ Main thing is I’m alright so to speak and the car is been repaired.. :D massive lesson learned and now the legal battle is on..

@@garymckie5998I know mate, you will probably know where it happened at DIFRT crick and will know the layout there as I explained in the vid.. imo he was clearly distracted and didn’t check over the shoulder.. its one of them.. I’ve got more pressing issues to worry about currently tbh.. im ok cars going to be ok that’s the main thing..

Common occurrence on that roundabout, probably on most roundabouts now. Lorries turning right often stay on left-hand of roundabout, that's why I am weary about overtaken them on roundabouts. Glad you're ok and nice to see that car back on the road soon

I get that he looks at driving differently after being in a accident because it was same for me after I was in a accident in passenger seat of a friends car… for years I was petrified as a passenger in a car. I remember going to work in a Nissan cabstar pick up truck with my dad driving and I was thence and holding on for dear life until I got out. Yeah so I understand my guy and how he feels. One thing I can say is it will get better….

As a driver of a lorry Always always stay back and give a lorry right of way on a roundabout because they will move lane , same applies with pulling in front of a braking lorry , you wouldn’t believe how much room he needs and how he’s thought about that braking even before you jump in front of him . Glad the cars being fixed and it’s all worked out . Never argue with a lorry as you will loose

I30N is a nice car but the wheel hop is annoying when the car attempts to put down the power. The 250 bhp car was on springs which didn't hop.

I fill so sad for this gentleman I know how he fills. 1998 I was hit from behind at speed and squashed between the car in front of me. The car was bad Doors stuck closed from impact. Still got back problems now from it. And I agree Driving these Days makes me nervous.

Our story is not what happens to us, it’s how we respond to what happens to us. This chap is it.

I got rear ended just before Christmas in my type r, cracked my crash bar and took the paint off my bumper, would of been a sadly a write off if insurance was involved, but lucky driver paid up and glad to see the i30n will be saved again, i was stationary and got hit made me loose confidence in driving

Hold back from artic on roundabout never go up inside to be safe

My wife got hit by a lorry on the m6 in her Hyundai i30 I decided to buy it back and source all the parts. 3 years on and we still own the car and drive it every day👍🏻

7:00 I agree that no one should be driving without insurance but cmon £4300 for a 1 litre car worth £1000 when I have a clean record and I’m 21 and all of this because I live in north London joke ting

I had a guy lose control of his car and smash into me, sending me off the road and into a tree. I felt massively anxious driving for about 6-8 months. It has changed my attitude to being on the roads, but I am back to enjoying driving cars again. Hopefully, he will be, too. Wish him well with the repairs.

Nice follow up, I know how I would feel, but love his positivity! I'm sure the car will attract crowds if all done for the event!

It hasn’t worked out yet, it’s now a legal battle as said in the vid, I’m having to fund all the repairs and paint myself.. costs are a fortune!

The right lane is known as the overtaking/fast lane. Doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to overtake on a roundabout.

As I said in my initial comment, the right lane is known and referred to as the overtaking lane because according to the law - that is what you're supposed to use it for. Hence the term, drive left pass right. So when he said that he was in the overtaking lane, he was not saying that he was going to overtake in an intersection, he is saying that he was using the RIGHT lane when the accident happened in the intersection.

I'm a HGV driver and this is unfortunate. Dominating both lanes is a choice by the HGV driver who regularly uses that road, this action upsets many car drivers not realising they're currently being protected from loosing their pride and joy.

Cheers bud.. I still believe he was distracted in the cab and didn’t do the required checks before moving over… worst thing is he could of gone down the road about a 1/2 a mile and came back then turned left and everyone would be happy.. 😔

Nope.. sections 184-190 of the Highway Code covers roundabouts.. It’s as per as I described in the vid for large videos..

@@richardlahiff1529 I said unwritten rule, my dad was a driving instructor for nearly 40 years and always told me not to drive on the inside of Lorries on roundabouts and tighter bends due to blindspots and their tendencies to cut lanes when turning. Unfortunate situation though and I hope you manage to get it all sorted and it’s back on the road soon, seem like a really nice fella with some unfortunate luck👍🏽

My number one rule when driving never ever drive beside an hgv stay back out of their way , it amazes me why so many people want to drive alongside these large vehicles even on motor ways drivers think it's clever to sit alongside of hgvs have you ever seen a large tyre blow out it can kill , I'm retired now but drove hgvs for 15 years believe me you will always come off worse , try to do a course on defensive driving to will save your life and your families 👍🚑

Great guy .

I really feel for the bloke and he seems like a decent guy, but when he said he doesn't have much luck with cars, he has to look at his part to play. Regarding the accident on the roundabout, I would always hold back if there's a lorry knowing full well that they may need to cut across the lanes, regardless of the size of the roundabout. The lorry driver may have been at fault, but the chap could have been savvy and be cautious and saved himself the heartbreak.

Insurance company’s are a joke I had a person reverse into my stationary car and the insurances wouldn’t agree fault and done it knock for knock. There’s no point in having insurance really

Tried our best to help him with parts on the Facebook group but these cars are a nightmare to get parts for unless it’s through the stealership for god awful prices unfortunately
