What a tremendous talent this man was. Everyone who heard him on the radio in the '60s had their day instantly brightened. He may have had issues (who doesn't?), but he was a very real person, and is sorely missed.

I never realized how much his music was incorporated into my childhood. RIP Roger.

Not just a great voice, not just a great performer, not just a talented guy but a genius song writer as well! People like Roger seem to jam three lives into one and are taken from us too soon! You will never be forgotten!

I think Roger was one of the most underrated and underappreciated writers in his lifetime. Still one of my all time favorites

I loved his voice as the narrator in Robin Hood!

Woke up this morning at 2:30 am from a vivid dream about the past and found myself mind-singing "Engine, engine number nine, running down the railroad line......." Went online and watched Roger sing the song with lyrics. Then I found this site and learned what happened to this wonderful part of my youth. I was born in 1937 and also served in the Fourth Army about the same time as Roger. They say you can't go back. They didn't know about the impact that Roger Miller had on some of us little folks. RIP my friend, see you on the other side. You done good, real good.

I'm 16 years old and I recently started my album collection at 14. Which I take pride in, and have been a fan of his albums since I was 10. Long story short I saw this video and just had to click. I always wondered what happened to him. Only in his 50s? That's so sad. I hope he wasn't in pain. He'll be remembered forever!

Talent like that is very, very rare, thank you for the gifts you gave, and no Roger, you won't be forgotten

My dad loved his songs and I sang them in the car with him. I thought he was so funny and his serious ballads were very touching. If there was a more talented songwriter, I’d like to know. Some people you never get tired of missing. Mr. Miller is one.

Absolutely love Roger Miller.His song "One dying and a burying" really struck a chord with me as I was diagnosed with leukemia a year ago.Alive and well I still love his music

I will never forget Roger Miller. I met him in person when i was a high school freshman. We had a good conversation that I will always remember. Not long after we met he skyrocketed into stardom.. RIP Old Friend...

I remember all these songs from my early childhood! Thank you for reminding me of them. Great singer and icon of that era. 💕x He will never be forgotten, I'm sure.

I so enjoyed listening to and watching Roger Miller as I was growing up, he is a special part of my youth... Rest in Peace Roger Miller you gave us so many awesome memories and we still have your awesome songs to listen to... My local radio station still plays many of Roger Miller songs, plus you can request them too....

What a gentleman. Had the pleasure of meeting him in Tesuque, New Mexico where he lived many years ago. Very generous with his time and a firm handshake. Thank you for the memories Roger! You will not be forgotten.

The year I spent working with Roger playing bass in his band with Thumbs Carllile and his unique style of playing guitar taught me lessons that made me a much better musician and songwriter. Glen Campbell recorded a dozen of my songs during the 9 years I spent with him playing bass and fiddle on the road and his years on CBS with his own TV show.. Working first with Roger set me up to be ready for such a break. I do so miss them both.

Grew up on his music and I have all my father's Roger Miller albums. He's my absolute favorite country singer and I know all the words to all his recorded songs. I love his music.

When I was young we traveled a lot as a military family. No matter what state we were in his songs entertained us. He made the time fly by.

Even his speaking voice was incredible just loved his music so much and voice.

I'll always miss this man, his music and more than that his sense of humor made like seem not so tragic and a lot more bearable, God bless you Roger, wish you were here

I met Roger Miller. He was a wonderful guy. He signed a bunch of my albums.

I grew up on this kind of music (parents were big fans) but never really appreciated until I was in my thirties. Now I drive my kids crazy by playing it!

Rest In Peace Roger. You are " King of the Road ".

I'll take two things away from this one Roger miller is a genius he never got the credit he reallly deserved. and 2 so called country music nowadays flat sucks compared to country back then.

In the late sixties, he won just about every Grammy you could win for about 4 or 5 consecutive years. It was basically no where up he could go from there! So, yeah he was appreciated. Just it was in the good old days. In the 80s he wrote and scored a Broadway show, that ran for two years, 'Big River'. 'Big River' won seven Tony awards - including Best Musical. He got ''some" credit. Maybe not enough? Today's country music doesn't come from the country, though. Excellent point there. Great content. בס״ד

I saw Roger Miller live when my dad and mom snuck me into the NCO club where he was entertaining GIs. I was not old enough to get in. Roger started out good, but drank through out his entire performance. By the end of the show he had fallen off the stool they brought him several times. The GIs thought it was hysterical. I was a huge fan, could sing all his songs. I didn't laugh, just felt sad as he was half carried off the stage at the end but still stayed a fan.

I loved Rodger Miller. I will always remember his singing, and his wonderful humour. Thank you sir.

One of my favorite artists as a child. "You Can't Go Fishin' In A Watermelon Patch" & many others are forever imprinted in my memory. Thank you Roger! Fun songs & fun times!!

3rd generation Roger fan here. He will be remembered forever. My nana played him on record for us when we were kids.

Being from England and, at the time in 1965 when he sang his song, I was one of the rosy red cheeked little children from there aged 9. It's a shame that his lovely song 'England Swings' wasn't included here. Apart from this, thank you for posting. I've always liked his humour filled laid back style. King of the Road is a timeless classic, iv'e loved it forever.

I had the pleasure of seeing him perform with Glenn Campbell at Knotts Berry Farm back in the day when great acts played in its theatre. Loved his unique voice! Have made sure my girls knew his music. Best way not to forget someone, pass it on to future gens.

My father was a huge fan of Mr. Miller. I grew up listening to his music all the time. He is to blame for my lifelong love affair with guitars and music. He will not be forgotten.

Whoever made this video did a Super Job!! I will never forget Roger Miller , I grew up with my dad also singing and humming his songs.. I remember watching him on TV shows and my mom and dad and myself laughing as the silliness! That's what we need now is just for some good old fashioned silliness and without any bad words etc.. What happened to the Good Old Days? Well, that's why they were good.. back in those days..

Memories of Roger are memories of my dad with the same old cassette tape being played until it nearly wore out. I wrote to Roger's widow Mary a few years back thanking her (as I couldn't thank the man himself) and she wrote me a wonderful note back. RIP Roger, you'll never be forgotten in this family as now all my children love your music and I'm working on the grandchildren.

Thanks. Roger was a real maverick and a genius at writing memorable songs that just about EVERYBODY loved to hear and/or sing.

I would go roller skating in a Buffalo herd anytime with Roger, one of my favorite singers back in the day and he still is now. Its very sad that we usually lose the best ones much too early in life...RIP Roger Miller...

Yep, the best ones don't stick around...... why would they anyway? The world's a clusturfuck now. They are here for a short spell to spread light into darkness. Few left as our entertainment industry has been infiltrated by darkness. We will never see the likes again. The music industry is a fukn shitshow now, just like most other industries. This is why we find ourslelves holding onto these awesome people of yesteryear, cause we are starved of decent humans in the mainstream these days.

Roger's song from Disney's Robin Hood, "Oo-De-Lolly", was most recently the Android television commercial's theme. Most adorable commercial ever! A forty four year old song that is still popular today!

Thanks for doing this for Roger ( as well as all the others ). I was a huge fan of Roger Miller, even though I wasn't born until 1962. I turned so many of my friends on to Roger Miller, who didn't even know who he was.........but they sure knew several of his biggest hits. Once I introduced them to many of his other songs, they also became fans.

"Im a, man of means by no means, king of the road!" Not only was this just an amazing song, but it also was in the outstanding move "into the wild" Chris McCandless loved this song

My dad had Roger Miller records and I fondly recall listening to Roger Miller when I was about 5 years old, I’m 54 now, no one else could rhyme the word Purple in a song

He was quite the guy. My dad introduced me to Roger Miller years ago and we still jam out to his songs together..Still can't get whackadoo down though..

"River in the Rain" & "Old Friends"

I was extremely blessing to have played bass in Roger's road band in the 70's. It was one helluva ride! I remember so well when he wrote this song. I think we started playing it the next show....you know....after we sang it in his suite til 6 or 7 in the morning! Hahahaha! Uh.....true story. And there are plenty more where that one came from. RIP RM.

Roger Miller a true legacy of American country music. He will be always remembered.

I remember a show with Waylon and Willie and others and they said they'd follow Roger around with notepads because he would constantly say crazy awesome things and they'd think "man! That'd make a great song!"

Quite an amazing generation, those born in the 1930s. Wow, what a decade of talent born in those years. I've been binge watching these "What happened to...", and almost all of them were born in the '30s.

What a legend so sad he’s not with us anymore . 😭

King Of The Road put the wanderlust in to all the teens back when it was safe to hitch a hike...back when being a Hobo was a cool thing to do,

One of my great regrets was when I was around 13 my dad and two brothers and I attended the San Diego County Fair in Del Mar and Roger Miller was in concert at the Grand Stand Stage but my dad said it was up to each of us whether or not we wanted to go see him or do something else. I was surprised to be given the choice and decided not to go just because I liked the idea of being considered old enough to choose and they all said how good he was and how funny. I have always regretted that decision and over the years have come to really appreciate how great he was.

Absolutely love the man. He could put a smile on your face with his wackier song's, but could put a tear in your eye with his ballad's. They we're always so heartfelt. You could almost feel the aching. Out of all the rendition's of "Green Green Grass of Home" I've heard, Mr. Miller's is by far my favorite! Nice little video by the way. R.I.P. Roger. Happy Holiday's everyone!

Thanks. Didn't know much about his career before his novelty songs. I read that he produced everything by himself in his basement studio.

'Old Friends' great song! he also had another great song 'Little Toy Trains' I was living in Nashville in 1985 when 'Big River' his Broadway play came to town...it was wonderful and Roger did a rare performance as Pap Finn. I believe he was most proud of his song .. 'We are Pilgrims' from that show. ..very talented, clever and witty guy

Also Reincarnation, Franklin Park Circle Hero. In one appearance on the Tonight Show, I recall hearing him talk about all the uppers he used to do, a habit that he had just kicked. He would keep a handful in his pocket, and pop 'em like candy. Good thing he kicked those, or he might not have made it out of the '70s! Fred

I hadn't known/realized that he could play multiple instruments. Wow! That's cool. I've loved his music for years, but never thought to find his biography. I should have. He always makes me happier. RIP Roger. Thanks.
