What Happened to Oracle Arena? ABANDONED?

The Golden State Warriors became a household name while playing at Oracle Arena. But the story of this historic venue dates back to when the team was in Philadelphia and the city had the Raiders football team of the AFL thrown at them. The city of Oakland thought that a massive sports complex, which became the the Oakland Coliseum and Oakland Arena, would make the city the national headquarters for professional sports, and help give the city an image nationally for economic development that was seperate from neighboring San Francisco.
The first four decades proved lackluster at Oracle, and a massive renovation completely demolished the inside of the arena and was rebuilt. The Golden Seals and the Oakland Oaks (led by Rick Barry) called the venue home in addition to the Warriors, who joined the last of the the three.
The Warriors drafted Steph Curry in 2008 and were bought by Peter Guber and Joe Lacob, who brought on the legendary Lakers president Jerry West to transform the team. Steve Kerr was hired as Head Coach and the likes of Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, Harrison Barnes, Andre Iguodala joined the team over the next few years. The team went to four consecutive NBA Finals from 2015-2019 before moving to the Chase Center in San Francisco, including 3 vs Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Join us in this video as we explore what happended to Oracle Arena. Is it Abandoned?

This feels more like the history of Basketball at the Coliseum than history of the Oakland Coliseum... Anyway, my stomping grounds as a child and Teen, as both my parents worked there, my Dad was a ticket taker and mom was an usher. I grew up there, was able to get in and see many shows and got to meet some really special and famous people, but oddly to me it was where mom and Dad went to work and took me a long. We were family friends with one of at the time 3 General Managers, Harold Miller, who has since passed, I'm sorry to say. Lots of awesome memories there. Concerts, train shows, Camping shows, in fact Coleman Debuted their pop up trailer camper at the Oakland Coliseum, I was there for that. On concert with the Rolling Stones they had a plane fly over in the Baseball stadium and drop rubber dolls! And a Metallica concert saw the destruction of the grass, lol! New Kids on the Block, Prince, Billy Joel, Bette Midler, David Bowie, Tom Jones, Oakland A's Games Stereo Shows, Mc Hammer, Michael Jackson, Eddie Murphy Raw, Monster Truck and Mud Raley Shows, Big Foot, Hulk Hogan, Aundre The Giant, The very best Car Shows you can imagine!!! Oh man, I'll never forget this place. I'm sorry to see it end up here. I became a Firefighter and paramedic and had since moved out of California, so to see it fall into a ruin is very sad to me. Warrior Games, Circus shows, got a chance to meet and keep in touch each time they came to the Coliseum Gunther and his Son of Ringling Bros Circus, the many ICE shows, just WOW a truly wonderful place for a kid and teen to hang out at back in the good ol days. Fair well what I called the Giant Drum on it's side. I had always wanted to work there like my Dad. Before becoming a Firefighter, I did work across the way at the Oakland Airport, as I took checked in at the gate like I recalled Dad doing when I was a kid, I stared across the highway seeing Dad those years back. He was proud I became a Firefighter now retired Captain. Oakland Coliseum Arena....Seems like a life time ago now. ❤

32:32. “Hosted a kpop group”. Not just any kpop group. It was Twice. From the videos of their concert, it looked like the audio quality in Oracle is quite poor compared to other arenas they played in.

Kansas City A's moved to Oakland 1968, then hockey San Francisco Seals moved from the Cow Palace in San Francisco to Oakland. San Francisco Warriors played half their home games at the Oakland Arena and otherwise at the Cow Palace starting in '66-'67. That changed in 1971 when the Cow Palace was dropped, but they came back in 1975 for the NBA finals. Raiders: they had no place to play in Oakland originally. They had to play at Kezar and Candlestick during their first two season, 1960 and 61, then at Laney Jr. College from '62 to '65.

Not entirely true. The roof and exterior walls are the same as KeyArena. They couldn’t demolish the roof and exterior walls as they are deemed an historic landmark for being built originally for the World’s fair in the 60’s. With the at being said though, you’re right.
