I don't know why people from the west think of snake charmers when they think of India. I'm nearly 26 and I've seen one only once in my entire lifetime. It's not too common here

@La Vie En Rose we want to know about other people and other things and other cultures thats why we kind of move to other countries and to learn something new and to improve our country's soft power and that also indians are smart and hard working people if you hire a indian in your business or company than he will work hard to make the business or company the best and competitive amongs other companies or organization or business

Are you serious? You western people are just jealous of our developments. First of all, There are EXTREMELY rare snake charmers in India, which are only in the rural areas, second, this video is trying to represent only the rural and undeveloped regions of our country. As being an Indian, I am extremely offended by this, and probably this video should be removed.

They literally begin in a city, with several Government officials, busy streets filled with vehicles, and a reference to the computer industry. The story isn't about snake charming, but about the people that once did so, and still exist, whether you like it or not. What you should actually be offended by is that the government of this state has failed to provide for the impoverished communities which have lost their livelihoods so that you can feel good about your image. How in this day and age can the Indian Govt still fail to even give its own citizens identity papers and the right to attend school?

Middle class and rich Indians are desperate to be recognized as a modern country , and in this pursuit, they overlook the reality of many poor Indians, some of whom used to make a living as snake charmers......middle class urban Indians reject anything that portrays their country as poor or dirty ( which is a reality )... They are only proud of their soulless generic shopping malls and metro .....they reject authentic and traditional Indian imagery and traditions

I'm sad for snakes , this comment may be my own opinion but then it's always an ongoing problem in our country , specially in areas too far away - snakes are more afraid of people than they are to be seen biting people with poisonous venoms , they are food to those who are good at hunting them and are simple living but not too poor people , just like dogs are even if laws are made , you can't tell if they hide or butcher their own many animals like dogs , some become strays, people like them are too long used to such practice.

It is wrong. The charmer sews the snake's mouth so it can't attack them. The "dancing" is a defence mechanism. Eventually, the snake dies of starvation since it can't open its mouth. The starvation process can take months. It's horrible.

The issue which you have shown is a problem of a village not of whole country. Many of the snake charmers are engaged in different jobs and leading a good life. Don't blame on our system.
