I love the modding community, but sadly. The Twitter and all those other toixic people really drove me and many other away from it.

I agree with sticking to mods you only care about, with so much drama and bad people getting found out. It can be tiring always hearing your trust and respect was put on the wrong person. It's okay to be in a toxic community, just be careful about who you support inside it.

Every community has it's bad apples. When a community gets big, that's when you'll see em the most. Eventually they'll leave, leaving the community small yet peaceful, even if it takes a while.

To be honest, I could never see myself leaving the community. This game changed my life for the better ever since I discovered it in December of 2020. To me, it would be stupid to abandon a fandom that keeps me so happy and occupied. Sure it ain’t as good as it used to be, but that doesn't mean it's bad.

SAMEEE i learned how to animate REALLY good, and i slightly got better at composing! And my drawing skills improved a ton as well.

I truly think that as mods are progressing, the devs are like "Oh shit we need to add stuff that can compete with that" and it's going to trap them into an endless cycle of overdeveloping their game.

I love how people immediately forget that, just because we gave them money, doesn't mean they have to immediately have to give back also damn, at the very least, the devs will have 35 weeks in fnf (Week 1-9 (including week 8, and Tutorial) a possible 10/9, + the 15 additional weeks, _AND AFTER THAT,_ the 10 week epilogue) The things they had to do? They have to: Make 25 additional weeks (including the 10 week epilogue) Make all new art for said weeks Make all new music Make the ERECT difficulty for every week. Add multiplayer compatibility, which means adding 10 DIFFERENT CHARACTERS Make a mobile port And maybe make new songs for different characters! That's 24 songs for each week, WITH CUTSCENES. A character creator and a sharing network. And if you think, "wow that's not alot, they're being lazy" (which i assure you that you aren't thinking this) then i ask you to *do it yourself*

Not to mention, they also have to remix all the music. So that's 35 * 3 for just the original songs. So if each song is around a 2 minutes that's about 105 songs at around 3.5 hours. Then double that for the remixes. 210 songs with 7 hours of music. Most albums don't even release in a year with that kind of volume or scope. And this is all done by just KawaiiSprite from what I know currently, so yeah they'll definitely need some time

Honestly, in this day and age, community is such a loaded word. This is coming from someone with roots in the Brony fandom, where, even there, there was static and strife...once it got bigger. I try never to get involved with 'fandoms'. I just like what I like, and move on. Not like there's really anywhere you can get involved with fandoms these days anyways, since the internet has boiled down to essentially 4 websites: Twitter, Reddit, KZread, and Tiktok. I miss forums.

Phantom has stated in a twitch stream a long time ago that he's fine if there are people that fall out of love with the game and anyone still around to appreciate it he's happy they've love the game for that long. Plus if I'm being honest. A smaller community might be a good thing. Less toxic and annoying people to deal with if this becomes more of an underground fandom.

I think the game’s community might return to at least 50 to 75 percent of its original popularity when the full game gets released, and then the full game will be as timeless as undertale and maybe have the good element of the GD fandom, level creation.

Man, this is June 2023 for me and the game has gone down hill way more, still no updates, there hasn't a popular FNF mod in forever and most FNF yters have quit yt/moved to another game and most mods have been taken down.

tbh I reckon when the next update releases, the "dying" community won't seem so dead, in my honest opinion most people who liked fnf are still likely into it and will play it when the new update releases, they are currently playing other things because other games exist and are not really talking about fnf currently because there's not much new, I feel like everyone is writing this game off as dying when I think it is just dormant.

So, I always had a very unique kind of concern for the game...barring maybe one or two aspects, can the official game even keep up with mods or bring anything new to the table at this point? Obviously one or two things WILL be super duper unique, the devs bringing us something that modders couldnt and all, and there's no doubt it will be high quality, but I feel like modders have skyrocketed SO much in the metaphorical arms race here that it worries me that the actual game wont be able to consistently keep up with all the unique innovations and presentation of certain mods out there. From gameplay mechanics, cutscenes and dialogue, so on and so forth.

Personally, I never really seen myself as being part of the community, I just really love the game 😭 I’ve been obsessed with Friday Night Funkin ever since Dashiegames introduced me to the game back in december of 2020. Even all the awesome mods that have been birthed into the FNF world!! But I will say, the community is definitely not like how it used to be, ofc because it was smaller back then. The bigger a fanbase gets, the more toxic it can become.

I personally never lost intrest in this silly game, ive had a hardcore fixation on it for a year and my goal is to get the equipment to make some mods on my own :D But i do agree that i am extremely disappointed with the community, pedo after pedo and controversy after controversy has really gave me a hard time to really feel optimistic about any new mod that gets created. On the plus side, development is still very much underway. The mainline devs have not released any content since forever. Normally, I'd say it's upon us to make the content...but oh my God. So many amazing mods. They are only getting better and better. I'd say focus less on the modding community, because there is quite a lot of drama. Focus more on the content that becomes very popular. Some of these mods are so spectacular, that they could be their own game. Scratching that Funkin itch has never been easier, and to be perfectly honest, my biggest concern is just how will the original developers of Friday Night Funkin top what the community has done so spectacularly. It's worth noting, that much of these mods took over a year to develop, and while I did say they could constitute their own game, that was more a hyperbole than a practice. The reality is, I'm expecting something seriously amazing from the Official game. I am just not expecting it anytime soon. Perhaps, at the latest, in 2023. People are very impatient, because you think kickstarters are like a ransom or something. I don't think the devs for the Kickstarter even thought they would get this far. Friday Night Funkin was literally made as a freeware game for fun, as far as I can tell. Who would have thought a cartoon dude with blue hair and a microphone would be so iconic? To make an excellent product, it's gonna take them time. *After all, they only get one shot to make their first official game.* It has big shoes to fill. Give them time.

I brought this up in your previous video, but you should talk about and explore how many different voices/soundfonts/chromatics there are for boyfriend and maybe even rank them

I left FNF since July 2022. As a fan in 2020, this kinda make me sad. I went from a shitty rhythm gamer, slowly but surely getting better and being introduced to more rhythm games comfortablely. I went from never make music before to making covers then remixes. 2 years I have loved FNF. Then drama hits everytime. Amor, Sonic.EXE, and a whole shit ton of mods, it makes me question if I should leave the community. Then I did. Looking back at old mods, it sometimes makes me want to join again. Since July, I never ever checked on FNF again, instead just focus on music and phonk. It genuienly depressing to see a game that changed what how I used to, slowly getting unnoticed with many people leaving the community. Hearing news, I feel like I shouldn't be back as kids are still ruling what mods should be popular.

They're working on two whole new weeks, They're also remixing every past and new song, Along with adding and charting a whole new difficulty for those songs.

For me, the most I’ve been getting is from old mods like indie cross and Kapi an Tricky, but ai still have some of the new and cool mods like FFBB, so I’m not completely lost, but I kinda lost touch, and really am just waiting for the update, but I still stay in touch with the community, and there is stuff I enjoy.

I remember undertale videos from the guy and the thing I remember is him saying stuff about the blue bone like “i mean blue means stop it is just like my name the blue stop sign”

They're probably adding Erect Mode for every song from weeks 1-8 and/or a crazy-ass gimmick

I know you might not check it out, but I do suggest you check out the Wednesday's Infidelity update, as well as the upcoming Mario's Madness update. Not only are they all full of nice people, but it's also because they're the only two mods that aren't cancelled right now. (Would've suggested MCM but, yeah)

Hmm... I wonder if the modding community will change with the easier access stuff. My prediction is that the base team is kinda too late. Everything large has already been modded in, so most of what we will see on the custom mod portal is just port after port after port. What I do question, however, is what will happen after? Will fnf be like undertale and slowly fade out of the scene, or will it come to a screeching halt. After all, has it already been fading? The fnf community has done about everything they can to make the game new and more difficult. I'm proud of where we are now, but I think it's about time for the next hit game to take the spotlight.

I knew the community petering out as the full game is being worked on. I knew this would happen immediately. I didnt expect the petty drama but... Eh I guess annoying kids will be in the fandom no matter if this is obviously an adult oriented game. I'm just going to wait for the full release and not worry about all that too much.

this video is pretty relatable to the end, at least for me. It felt like drama was about to start and I didn't feel like picking sides or dealing with mediocre mods (at least in my opinion ). The only thing that could've kept me in this community is some big mod like tricky phase 3. I'm not saying its any ones fault that mods felt mediocre, its just poor timing with the game feeling boring at the time (due to me playing it so heavily) and a growing love for other games like Valorant. Throw in some drama between kolsan and spete and im out (btw how did that go over? I had left right at the start so). This game really was fun but its lost its charm for me, over all tho this is a nice clarification video sorry for seeing it so late i just thought i would leave this here lol.

I only came back to the community cuz I accidentally wrote “fnf vanossgaming” on the yt search engine while searching for vanossgaming’s fnaf gmod videos. I found an fnf song but dubbed by Vanoss and his Friends. It was fire and now I want a Vanoss Crew Mod.

Fnf changed me ever since I played it in 2020, even tho the community is shit at times I love the game and has many for it💙💙💙

It’s like I blinked and went from a medium-but-hype community around week 4 to a GIGANTIC MASSIVE ADORING FANBASE around week 7 🤣 Seeing the fanbase evolve in realtime is crazy

IMO, the devs are doing a poor job of communicating about progress on both the full game and this new update [which, I guarantee you, will probably amount to nothing more than 45 minutes of extra content]. Without any direct words between fans and devs about what's happening and when, we're left to ask; what's taking so long? How big exactly is this update that's been delayed for 4 months [supposedly in development since October of last year]? When will this "shit fuck hard?" How big is the team? The Kickstarter 'updates' tab is only for physical rewards for backers, and even those have been rolling out at a pretty slow rate. PA and Ninjamuffin did tweet out some informal 'updates' recently, talking about how they're working on refining the game's engine, etc etc. That's all good and fine, but what about content? How much of the game is planned? How's work on the 60+ songs and remixes going? What about those cutscenes? So many questions. Given how high quality mods are nowadays and how quickly savvy modders can churn them out, I don't think the devs are excused from criticism. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels disappointed with the state of the game.

It’s probably been a year and some since that kickstarter I honestly can’t remember but for the longest time I’ve given them a pass. I’m not too keen on hearing about anything but the full release or at least an update. When fnf first came out the dev team wasn’t that experienced I mean the game was made in a day so it’s understandable that the game needs a lot of work. Transparency is needed though and it’s a shame we haven’t gotten much from them but at the same time I don’t want people trying to leak their content like they did week 8. I probably won’t do some questioning or digging until 2023

FNF is a game that has brought me joy, and still does. People are commenting stuff like “why haven’t you left the community?”, It’s a passion project / hobby for some people, I just wish people would get that, I just hope the community gets better with less conflict (this will probably never happen, sadly)

I know I'm late, but I also had to get myself away from FNF. After wk 7, I primarily followed the shaggy mod (still do.) In fact, the shaggy mod 2.5 was the last thing of FNF I've played before officially not playing the game anymore. I wanted to focus on the franchises I care about as well as work on making a manga series.

I don't blame you for not liking a lot of mods nowadays, because of all the disgusting people who decide to join the community. Also because of all the damned leakers, mods keep getting cancelled left and right. Like the Vs. Sonic.EXE mod; it was leaked so many times to the point where they cancelled the mod. Not just because of that, but also because of how stressful things were, and being late for deadlines.

I thought the Sonic.exe Mod was cancelled because of Failure of Communication in the Dev Team.

i just want to wait until the next update is out. i dont care when, i just want to see it sometime. i dont like people being rude to the developers

On one of the new fnf CDs with the OST it had a date that said April 3rd I’m pretty sure so I assume the new update will be released some time in April 2023

It went from eh 🤷‍♂️to cringe real quick due to cosplayers and people singing the songs. Not to mention suspicious modders having allegations and the lack of updates. It kinda fell off.

In would say that because the fan making of mods is so easy and that there is such a large fan base. It kinda disguises the main official game entirely, I completely forgot that there was the og fnf XD

I, alongside many others, waited months for any kind of video, be it mainline fnf or any mod. Literally any of the dozens that have come out since you left. There's been a ton from Trippe Trouble being the new standard for mods. The sonic exe revivals Vs Garcello update Rumors of vs tricky to be updated Explaining why Mid fight masses deluxe was deleted The vs entity mod And a ton more content. Sure, the communities might not all be great or even good, but you weed out the bad ones, find content, and we come back. I waited 4 months for you to admit you did nothing. The entire community waited 4 months for you to just say "Yeah I was off base, my bad." We know already. We picked up on that 2 months ago when your prediction didn't come to happen and a lot of us are sick of waiting. All of that being said, I hope you find content you enjoy making. I understand how much of a rut this must be and how hard it must be to climb out of it, but I'm sure you can do it. As for the mods explained videos, understand that a huge amount of your audience doesn't want new stuff, they want mods explained. Whatever you choose to do going forward, just make sure you're happy doing it. Don't make this a slog or a boring job you do for views, but as a project you do for the passion in it. Stay safe, stay healthy, and upload again soon. We'll all be waiting for a new video.

i almost jumped when i heard the ultrakill menu theme

I left the fandom after sticking with it through the drama When i first joined the fandom it was late 2021 and i left fnf probably at the start of 2023 When i joined i didn’t know much what happened, before i joined the fandom i knew what FNF was and i thought “it looks stupid” but when i saw a video of it i was hooked. The first drama i learned was the whitty drama but because i joined in late 2021 it already happened or so. I then caught up with the drama but i was still interested in the fandom. At the start of 2022 i stop being in the community in a while and moved to MHA a way worse fandom, then to fnaf SB then to undertale then i came back to fnf. It was hard for me to let go of the fandom, but suddenly i lost interest. Most of the mods were just creepypasta mods, the main game is stuck in week 7 and the fandom is a lot worse...I never thought i would leave it..Right now i’m starting to consider joining the fandom again but it’s still undecided.

good stuff takes time, tf2 took over a decade to make, and its one of the best games of all time.

I forgot that this game has existed 💀

I was obsessed with this game, and used to play it all the time instead of paying attention to my online classes my junior year. I was so invested in the story and the characters and the music. Then people started making really awful mods, and kept shipping characters together even though the main characters are literally boyfriend and girlfriend. I loved the animation style (very 2000s) and the DDR gameplay, but just like with every other great indie game, the fandom started to ruin it. I still hope it doesn’t fade into nothingness

After 4 months, the legend has returned!

i joined the community because of the gameplay,song and mods. mods are m favorite things about fnf, it got interresing songs,artstyle and unique idea but then i quit because they are too many creepypastas mods and not uniques idea and just things that came from the other fandom.

Fnf is one of those games that takes years to complete, like undertale that took 3 years to complete I believe

now that i think about it, i miss 2021 friday night funkin’, the game was just so fun and amazing and there was so many creative mods. i discovered it around novemeber or december 2020 and this was before it became popular, the reason why it died is because the game got boring, the main game never got updated and the community is disgusting.

What happened to Friday Night Funkin'? They are still developing the game stuff like that takes time. Like you said it's annoying when people complain about the game taking a while they have a small team it will come out eventually people need to be more patient

it hasn't even come out yet dude...

the reason fnf is dying quickly is simple not the base game, but the community itself. Mods have become repetitive in terms of visuals, charting, songs, etc. Mostly everyone has stopped playing fnf to move into other rhythm games since theres a big lack of difficulty charts. And obviously the drama between modders, becoming the main reason why people stills talking about fnf.
