What Happened to Every #1 Recruit Since 2000?!

Спорт

Not all #1 high school recruits turn out to be NBA stars.
In fact... 15 of the 21 #1 ranked guys from 2000-2021, never made an NBA All-Star team.
In this video I take a look back at what happened to each and every one of those guys. As you'll quickly find out, the range of outcomes is vast.
We've told over 1,500 basketball stories on TikTok, and now are taking on KZread with a full head of steam! We will be posting a new video every single week so make sure to TURN ON that notification button. Also, don't forget to subscribe if you're new for all kinds of NBA and HS hoops stories.
As always, thank you for the support!

No slander. While Wiggins did average 20 points for the Wolves, he didn't do anything else. He averaged fewer rebounds than Rubio. On losing teams, anybody can average 20 ppg with enough shots. i.e. Jeremy Lin averaged over 20 when he was with Knicks.

@@LuckyJackson2020 Excuses! Wiggins averaged more shots than KAT, who wasn't a traditional Center and soft as a tissue. My point about Wiggins is he didn't do/didn't know to do anything besides scoring when he was with the Wolves. Plus, he was widely inconsistent. One night, he would score 35 points and looked like Kobe, the next night he would disappear.

As a Warriors fan, he's exactly who I wanted us to have. It was just bad timing. The season where he could have gotten minutes and developed, he got hurt too. (shrugs) Before the injuries, he had some dang good looking games. Missing his first 1 1/2 seasons is what ruined him. I don't regret us not taking Ball. Ball doesn't become Ball on the Warriors, either. Where does he get the minutes to develop? Rookies rarely come into the league ready-made. You need to get playtime. I still insist if any team but the Pistons took Darko, he might have become something. He played a couple minutes of garbage time a game. You can't get better doing that.

I recommend that if you plan on doing entire eras or decades maybe just stick to one decade at a time and go more in-depth. This video felt rushed as you had to pack so many players into the short time you gave it. 10 min per era/decade would have allowed you to give each player their due respect. i.e. you didn’t mention Dwight Howard’s accolades, his finals appearances, or his eventual championship. Even if as a role man. It gives you more material to work with and better research would get you more views. Good luck.

The video left out Jabari Parker. He was skilled offensively but didn't have a consistent outside shot. Also he's undersized and couldn't play defense.

Kerr is to Wiseman and Larry Brown was to Darko. They drafted a kid that needs playing time more than anything, but then can't /won't / don't give him any. It would seem moving him would be in everybody's interest if the kid is going to have any shot.

Wiggins did not live up to the #1 overall pick. He was not an all-star and widely inconsistent. He's good with the Warriors because this team doesn't need him to be a star.

@@mr.g937 Wiggins is not a bust because he has improved and helped the Warriors win a title. But you are right, he has not lived up to the #1 pick because #1 picks should a perennial all-star.
