Wilt Chamberlain AVERAGED 37.6 pts and 27.0 rebounds per game in his ROOKIE season. To put that into perspective, even if he had retired after that rookie season, both of those would stand as single season records not just for rookies, but for any player in their best seasons. Only Wilt himself has ever broken either of those records. He was also blocking a LOT of shots back then as well, but they weren't officially recorded yet at that time. He was already the BEST player in the world before the end of the season, and arguably before he even played his first NBA game. Nobody has ever been anywhere near that impressive in their rookie season. Wemby is great, but this was NOT the greatest rookie season of all time. You recency bias is obvious.

We can only project how much of an impact he would've had if he played minimum 36min (based on his late play at the end, it's massive). It's a shame they did the Sochan experiment, the Spurs would've had quite a bit more wins if they went with Tre from the get-go.

With just him added to the celtics team, from the prvious cellar dwelling position of 29W-53L, the celtics went on to have the league best record winning 61 games. They also went to the eastern conference lineup where they eventually lost to the much talented Sixers led by Dr. J. at six games. The next year on his sophomore year, they won the NBA championship. I assume you’re talking about Larry Bird. But you’re missing tons of context, my friend. One there was a huge coaching change that year. Two, their leading score Archibald was injured in 1978 with a torn Achilles. He was still recovering, which is why the team was so bad. He was the leading the league in both scoring an assists before his injury. So the team in 1978, 1979 was hit with the injury bugs, which is why they fell so far. In 1980 they recovered from their injuries, change their coach and added a superstar rookie which led to one of the greatest turnarounds in league history. Huge larry fan, but let’s not pretend that it was ALL Larry, context matters.

We all know Michael Jordan holds the eternal record for most points in only 15 regular seasons in the NBA and won 6 titles (40%). Jordan is the NBA GOAT and this fact will be written in stone for decades to come. LeBron and others scored more points *in more than 15 regular seasons*. My respect to LeBron James for playing more than 20 seasons and his record of more than 40,000 points in the NBA, but he did not surpass MJ. LeBron spends $1.5 million a year on training and nutrition, and missed the chance to break Jordan's record of 15 regular seasons. LeBron did not win 6 titles even in his 20 regular seasons (2003-2023). Larry Bird and Magic Johnson chose Michael Jordan as the NBA GOAT, because of MJ's plays that they witnessed. Wilt Chamberlain was tall and athletic, but he didn't win 22 NBA awards like Michael Jordan did. What would have happened if MJ hadn't retired in 1993? I would have obtained more records and even an additional title... Phil Jackson believes the NBA GOAT is Michael Jordan: kzread.info/dash/bejne/o6CAscWYqLXIj8Y.html Phil Jackson won 11 rings: . 6 rings with Chicago Bulls and Michael Jordan, and . 5 rings with Lakers and Kobe Bryant. NBA GOAT Career Points Per Game Ranking: 1.Michael Jordan 30.12 points 2.Wilt Chamberlain 30.07 points 3.Luka Doncic 28.40 points 4.Joel Embiid 27.85 points The NBA record for points in a single game is held by Wilt Chamberlain, who scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks in 1962. Bill Russell has 17 NBA awards, including 11 NBA championship rings. Jordan has 22 NBA awards. I dropped the mic right here (enough data). Jordan was MVP 6 times in 6 NBA Finals and won 6 titles in only 15 regular seasons. Jordan has 6 NBA championship rings (6 MVPs in those finals), 5 times regular season MVP, 3 All Star MVPs, 1 time named best defender of the year, 1 time rookie of the year and other awards. Jordan was the NBA's leading scorer 10 times from 1986-1993. He left the NBA for a year and then won the same award from 1995-1998. In the 86-87 season MJ scored a record of 37.1 points per game. MJ won *Regular Season MVP* 5 times which is *tied with Bill Russell* (Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has 6 regular season MVPs in his Hall of Fame career with the Bucks and Lakers).
