This show would work soooo well with an “edgy” reboot, it had the elements already! Way better decision than Winx reboot...

I owe my obsession with the enemies to lovers trope to Raf and Sulfus. These bitches had one intense dynamic. I mean, we got the forbidden romance, the hate to love, the fact that they couldn't even touch without it breaking the rules, the constant teasing and competitiveness, the "my angel" lines, the intense stares and the most scandalous kiss scene my 10 year old self had ever seen. As cringy as the show in its entirety seems to me now, I'll never not love Raf and Sulfus.

So basically, summarizing Angel Friends is. The Universe got annoyed at everything and did deus ex machina to end it XD

I LOVED Angle's Friends as a kid, I LIVED for the romance between Raf and Sulfus! I was devastated when the show didn't continue. To this day I still have the opening song play in my head from time to time. Looking at it now, it is amazing how much my child mind edited over the terrible lip sync.

It makes sense but it's not really good. A lot of languages have names mean actual thing. (The closest I can think of is russian, where Vera / Lubovj / Nadezhda all mean Faith, Love and Hope.) But they are not meant to be translated. Same as places are not translated.

In her introduction scene her friend says "She's Sweet, I mean her name is Sweet" and Sweet says "I'm sweet like sugar, ice cream..." and there are a lot of similar lines (like "She's Sweet both in name and personality") so, I think that if they kept it "Dolce" it wouldn't make much sense and the name would lose its meaning (But I have to admit, Sweet is a little cringy as a name in English) (Also, I don't know why I over analysed the translation choices of an unknown Italian kids show, I'm sorry 😐)

It's weird how if the concepts and ideas from Angel's Friends were executed competently, we could have gotten a series like Good Omens. Because the forbidden relationship of Raf and Sulfus and the war between Heaven and Hell give me so much Good Omens to them and it could have been great if it was executed better.

fun fact we Italians created this show, but we never dubbed the second series. So, for see it, I see it in Russian with English subtitles. What an irony ... It wasn't a special, but it was one of our cartoons, what a shame

I adored the comic as a child, and my favorite character was Miki, the badass inuk-coded best friend. I never even touched the cartoon when I found out they cut her.

god i loved angels friends and was also super frustrated with them. The idea and some plots are genius but the execution is so clumsy often

I used to watch Angel's Friends all the time when i was younger, in fact i liked it so much i wondered what it would've been like if they did a crossover between Angel's Friends and Winx Club.

I really liked this show as a teen (cause I found out about it when I was about 11ish, long after seeing every winx club, totally spies, witch and scoobie doo episode. btw I'm a 17 year old from Poland). The polish dub was actually really good and I loved the first season and the movie. Tho I have to say the plot of the second one was not as good, but the relationship of Raf and Sulfus ( Siarkus - in polish) was soooo good. Literally the best romatic tension in a kids animation. I was really bumbed to find out there was no season three, especially since it ended on a cliff hanger.

I’m 20 and same! I loved our dub, it was actually pretty good and imo much better than the English one. This show actually started my obsession on the enemies to lovers trope. The main concept of the show is actually really good and with better animation, more mature theme and less plot holes it would make an incredible show.

I watched Angel's friends in Polish and I remember loving it. Granted I did not remember half of the story, but it was fun to watch when I was younger. Anyway, great video and thank you for reminding me that this show existed.

I'm Italian and I still have the comic!! (not all the volumes but many of them) Guys, belive me, the comic was SO GOOD. The character design, the story.. I loved it! Then, I don't know why, it was abruptly interrupted. In the last volume I got, they announced the decision to make the comic a web comic and to continue it in their official website.. but that never happened. Instead, they made this show, that compared to the comic, is literally trash. I remember being so disappointed! They changed so many things, the quality in general is so low, it looks like a bad version of Winx.. Anyway, thank you for the video, loved it! Edit: ah, in Italian "Cox" sounds very cute actually 😂😂😂

I was going to say exactly the same thing, they totally ruined the comic version, they transformed the story in a kid's show when it was a more teenage story, The characters became some sort of cutie version of the original drawings and everything went south after that. (Ps io ricordo benissimo l'esistenza di un portachiavi a forma di Angelo rosa con un campanellino in regalo col primo volume, me lo sono immaginata? 😅 )

Oltre alla storia e ai personaggi, adoravo lo stile di disegno che sembrava una via di mezzo tra un manga e uno stile più occidentale 😍 Purtroppo lo hanno stravolto così tanto da farlo diventare qualcosa di completamente diverso.. Da uno stile super puccioso, paffuto e originale sono passati a uno anoressico e completamente asettico 😑 per non parlare della caratterizzazione dei personaggi.. È un vero peccato, perché aveva un enorme potenziale secondo me, come fumetto italiano! Comunque sì, ricordi bene, ma sai che il primo volume era tra quelli che mi mancavano? 😭 Io ricordo anche di un braccialetto con i sonagli tutto colorato e uno scaccia spiriti rosa shocking 😂

Hai ragione è un super peccato che abbiano distrutto il fumetto aggiungendo personaggi a caso e togliendo i personaggi originali, a me ha soprattutto distrutto come hanno stravolto i devils che avevano uno stile molto meno "Puccioso" e più rock😭 Ps: mi sono anche ricordata dell'esistenza del portachiavi argento a forma di coccinella lol

The story in Angel’s Friends is super good. The delivery is super bad. It sucks because I was actually invested at some points in the show and then the bad delivery ruined it :| Also I kinda liked the episodes with the humans?? Idk it was sort of nice to see, my favorite one was the grotto arc. Also they hardly used the ‘Angel’s Friends’ spell lol

One thing you didn't know about, which not many people do, is that it was actually based on a comic of the same name. The main plot was different but the premise was somewhat the same. The main difference besides the character designs is that on the comic the angels and devils are much younger, and Raf was actually in love with a human. There's actually a trailer for the comic on KZread in english dub.

I'm so stoked someone knows this show😆❤️✨

Oh my gosh I use to watch this show called “horse land" and even had the toys/dolls for it. Basically a fever dream now but it would be cool to make a video on it!

U didn’t watch the movie, I am guessing? Since it concluded the story when Raf and Sulfus actually found and went through to become humans. I loved the movie, it also brought some old characters.

There is a movie, but it is set between the first and second season. In the movie, Raf and Sulfus don't decide to become humans, but they actually find out about a way in which they can become humans, the 'Path of Metamorphosis.' In the end, they promise each other that they will consider wether the want to go through the Path of Metamorphoses so that they can be free to love each other, which is where season 2 starts off. At the end of season 2, that's when they decide that they will become human, but we never see that happening due to the show's cancellation.

I clicked immediately I saw this show's name. This show was my whole childhood, before I discovered winx club, this was my favourite show. I'm soo happy someone is finally talking about it 🤣🤣🤣

Lel I have watched both winx and angel's friends as a kid But man as a kid you just don't notice anything

So fun fact, the studio that animated this cartoon (Mondo TV) also animated that one bad Titanic movie and get this: propaganda North Korean cartoons. You can't make this shit up even in your wildest dreams, but it'a all true, 100% accu-rat

i just loved this series and whatever u guys say, it will never make me think bad of it, that s how it goes, did not know this was an italian animation... woe

This show is like watching someone press the A button 1 second too quickly

seeing "angel's friends" just resurfaced some hidden, repressed memory i never knew i had, wtf

I think it would have been better if Malachai wasn't killed like that. It would have been much better if they had him go back to his life and see him and Raph building a relationship maybe even giving her advice in s2 leading to a better writen conflict between her and the other angels

I personally LOVED “Angels friends” but I think that season 1 was better and I would love to see season 3

I have one memory of this show. I was once walking, at age 4, on a street reading a magazine/comic of ANGELS FRIENDS, and fell over onto my chin: broke my chin, had to go to hospital, and thought it was the fault of angel's friends: the demonic characters OR SOMETHING. Forgot about it for 12 year...Now I reMEMBERED THE SHOW

I honestly have no idea what's going on with Pretty Cure. I knew of the first season from, like, the 90s and then suddenly there's 30 more magical girls

My super obscure magical girl guilty pleasure!! Honestly though, I like a lot of the concepts of this series. The shoulder angel/devil in battle thing, the lore, the big bad trying to get the MC's to hookup for her plot, Raf's family mystery with her kidnapped mom and henchman dad tied to both Big Bad's story etc Kind of wished they where in a better executed series.

Is no one going to talk about the live action adaptation of this series called Darkly that was about a darker storyline of Angel’s Friends where Raf and Sulfus are killed by Reina and reborn as humans without memories? It was made for an older audience and I found it when I was looking into the Angel’s Friends series awhile back.

I have an OC that has an angel aesthetic for her magical girl design and I got that from a dream I had, and my brain must have subconsciously took the design of the main character of this show and just, modified that in my brain I haven't even watched or heard of Angel's Friends until I first watched this video

easy way to know if a cartoon in our channels is made somewhere in production by italians: Protagonist is blonde with blue eyes, or more easely look at the animation, italians use a LOT that kind of motions and movement style

​@@sarasthoughts ranging from movies to series with a better quality than The Legend of the Titanic: Gladiators of Rome, Tommy e Oscar, Angel friends, Martin Mystery, Puppy in my Pocket, Gormiti Lords of Nature, Huntik, Extreme Football (I prefer the prequel anyway), Regal Accademy, Dinofroz- If there is a group, the MAIN one is surprise surprise the stereotype I wrote. Of course, is not for EVERY single cartoon with italian involvment, but is getting way more than a simple coincidence. Nothing against characters with both those characteristics, just letting people see it is always either the main character, or the more important one. In comics appearance is not always like that, but the personality trope is (Edit: I thought you wrote in another comment where I also added personality trope in italian comics, ignore this last part xP )
