What Happened To ‘80s R&B Group Guy?

Ойын-сауық

Teddy Riley, Aaron Hall, and Timmy Gatling came together in the late ‘80s to form Guy, an R&B singing trio that displayed traditional soul vocals over hip hop beats creating a never-heard-before sound dubbed new jack swing. They went on to achieve numerous hits as well as inspire a crop of other groups and solo artists to embrace the new music genre. Behind-the scenes, though, things had already started to fall apart from the very beginning and only got worse as time went on until it all came to an abrupt end.

They say that Aaron hates the nickname, but hell he earned it lol 😂. Great video 👍🏾

Whewwww when I saw this recommended for me I clicked so FAST!!! Ever since I started listening to Guy myself a couple of years ago I've been completely in love since! "My Fantasy", "Don't Clap, Just Dance" and "New Jack City" are my three favorite songs by them! Those jams are just so funky! I remember hearing their music played when I was extremely young in the mid 90s and it never dawned on me until very recently that they're not really known outside of the black community as most of their hits were only R&B hits. I don't understand why after 30 years they haven't had any honors at award shows and they're NEVER mentioned among all of this '90s nostalgia that's been going on the past few years, yet there have been several songs lately that have sampled their classic hits. Guy is such a beautiful and important part of R&B history. I hope they get their acknowledgment and flowers soon while they're still here. They have bangers for days to be honest. P.S.: Aaron Hall seems to be a huge mess though in his personal life and I believe needs mental help.
