When your finger tips do get calloused, pulling a hot plate of food out of the microwave and placing it on your finger tips to carry over to the table is a guitarists mutant X-men power. Yeah, it may not be the best mutant power but it comes in handy saving food from being dropped on the floor. Especially, when you're really hungry and your watching something on the Tele. (Why I'm I starting to develop an accent?)

Dagan, you are so full of energy and knowledge. You are an energetic and adorable! I love your humor and energy. I love all the topics that you cover. You make all the topics easy to understand. One can also get a really good idea of how the different guitars sound, by your superb ability to play.
This is a lovely little overview! I appreciate the encouraging, positive tone and the real-world examples of “this sounds kinda like this style, or this artist” and that there wasn’t machismo about playing smaller or inexpensive guitars.
If I lived in the UK, I'd go to this store just to talk to Dagan.

That was very helpful, entertaining and straightforward! Thank you!
Nice video, loved how it was well explained!
Dagan is the man! Been watching for a little over 2 years now hes one of my favorites along with Tyler from music is win
I know this was from 5 years ago, but I just came across it. As someone from the USA, I will watch this video multiple times just to hear the words, "plectrums" (instead of "picks"), 'CAPPOS' (instead of "capos") and "bums" (instead of butts). 😁 Oh, and the video is clear, concise and easy to understand! 😊
Another great video. I really wish you folks would give clinics to American music stores on how to make their stores fun and inviting. Could just be my luck, but when I go into most guitar stores here in California the sales associates are rude snobby jerks who obviously don't want to be there. Didn't mean to vent. You guys are awesome. BIG fan.

Great thanks! You're adorale and have a nice, warm voice and vibe. 😊👍
very motivational towards the end :)
The body of your acoustic guitar really makes a difference on the style you play. I was considering a dread for fingerstyle but the responce of the top was way to slow. I will remain with my 000 for now :)
Not sure this was the 'size' guide I was looking for. I get guitars come in different sizes (obviously) but I was hoping for guidance on choosing one based on torso height, arm position, etc. Still, informative. I never considered choosing one based on genre, just is it bright or mellow

Hello - Thank you for all the informational videos on guitars - they are very helpful - Could you also post a video on "What is the best guitar for Percussive playing?"
I'm happy this video is out there. I can't tell you how many smaller-framed totally new beginner students are sold gigantic dreadnoughts which they then struggle with and quit. Then they try a little 000 style or gretsch jim dandy, and you can literally see their eyes light up and they go ""Ohhhhh! I had no idea a guitar could be this easy to play!"

My mom bought my first electric guitar or guitar period from my old preacher. It was a Michael Kelly that looks like a Starcaster. We bought it for $300 but it's retail is $1,100
Okay this helped a lot, understand way better ideally I'd like for my first. Dreadnaught for all that sound range, dont mint mind that its larger then others. Perhaps after some proficiency an electric one acoustic.
Very Good, Thank you 👌
Not a single member of our Bg group has less than 35 years experience on their chosen instruments. Our banjo player is 67 y o. Plays a Gibson RB250 Mastertone. He aklso plays his D35, a Kentucky fiddle, a Steiner fiddle, and a Dopera Bros resophonic "Dobro" guitar. I'd like to name our band "Old and outta tune"!!!!
This man is made for the camera 🙌🏼 I swear he moonlights as a TV presenter 😅
Strangely, the first dreadnought acoustics didn’t bear the Martin logo, but were made for the Oliver Ditson Company with production beginning in 1916, marketing being centred upon New York and Boston. These models had 12-fret-to-the-body necks, slotted pegheads, no pickguards and with unique inlays and soundhole rosettes. However, in terms of construction, they featured mahogany backs and sides and spruce tops; since becoming pretty much standard with makers of dreadnought-style guitars worldwide.
Dagan you are amazing
Flamenco and classical guitars are slightly different from each other but are both Spanish guitars because they both originate from Spain.
Hey! thanks. Fantastic video 💜. To me the dreadnought was cumbersome, ooo is my size.
My first adult, expensive guitar (1968) was a classical. Given my smallish hands, that thing, with its unplayable flat, jet runway fretboard killed my interest for 50 years, when I finally got a nice small-body steel-string guitar with a comfortably radiused fretboard.
7:28. I couldn't agree with you more! I just bought my Yamaha Dreadnought last week, i was finding that even though i'm not particularly good on the electric yet, i found that if i picked up an acoustic, i couldn't play it at all. Also when a group of us would go out, there would always be someone with an acoustic guitar and it made it an awesome chill sesh!
Cheers Russel Edward Brand...kool previews indeed matey...tata..
I play accoustic bass guitar in an amateur bluegrass band, but I've played standard guitars much longer (70 years). Started on standup bass 5/8ths size. When I got a chance I played our banjo player Martin D35. Shunned buying a Martin as a result. But in the last year I've bought several Martins trading up. When my pal bought his D35 it was a 68 model he bought in 69. $550.00. Now D35 prices have skyrocketed. Next on my radar is an upgrade to a Martin accoustic bass guitar.
Yeah, the parlor and other small bodies came first. Orchestra models and THEN the Dreadnought. The Jumbo's come along after looking for more volume and bass.
Thanks, I’m a ukulele player and I’m trying to find a nice small guitar I can use.
Question: i really love the yamaha apxt2 acoustic/electric guitar. Im very tiny with very small hands. Is the neck regular width or is it small? I have a hard time reaching on big neck guitars.

Is there an acoustic guitar in the size/shape identical or almost similar to an electric guitar? My acoustic guitar now feels bulky since I started practicing more and more on my electric. Thanks!
Its weird that my guitar very very looks like a classical but its actually a steel string guitar... because it has bridge pins and i saw inside it has bracings...
He's such an amazing salesman!
this guy is awesome
What is that Fender you were using to explain the benefits of an electroacoustic guitar?
I don't like big dreadnought bodies. The old parlor guitars are the best size imo. Nice and small. Usually I'd be playing plugged in anyway so the volume bonus you get from the bigger bodies is nullified. I own a vintage parlor guitar from 1909, which the previous owner electrified. Great tone!
Gosh darn it this guy's charming

Very helpful advice. Perhaps a bit-slower delivery? That would help in absorbing all the info. Thanks.

I never visited PMTVUK because I'm from India BUT I JUST LOVE PMTVUK SO MUCH ❤❤
I am stuck in a rut learning to play as I am still on the first module for six months only now I have horrible wrist pain plus my hand falls asleep. Why? I have small hands (6.5in from wrist to the tip of the longest finger, and 7.5in from tip of the thumb to a fully spread out hand's tip of the pinky) so to reach the half the strings I have to bend my wrist which is giving me carpal tunnel. What would help as the Squire is too much for me?
I'm 16 and I was thinking of buying a guitar 3/4 because it's cheaper. Just until I can learn to play it, then I'd buy a nicer, aucustic one. But would a 3/4 guitar be too small for me?
I'm 5'4 should I go for drednaught or medium ??
Which ones are the best travel size guitars with pick up?? Not so expensive though haha

as a kid I never knew there were different sizes for guitars, so my parents bought me a guitar that was literally like the size of my body. u telling me there were different guitar sizes and I could've saved myself the struggle of playing a massive guitar- T.T
What is that type of guitar in 2:45? Please help.
Does anybody know in what direction the guitar prices have moved over the last 10-20 years? I am asking because it seems rock music as a whole has been going through a period when it’s much less popular. Well definitely electric guitar rock is less popular.
Though I could listen to this guy all day... This video was about everything, but why I came here: guitart sizes.
I've been playing guitar for years and he could still convince me to buy one of these beginner ones 😂😂
I love the presentation of this vid, but it would be nice to hear some suggestions for different sized adults. Myself, a 5'6" woman with small hands is going to have a different experience to a child or a tall bloke with big hands. Though thank you for pointing out people like Ed Sheeran use smaller guitars, it makes me less embarrassed to be buying something that is marketed to children 99% of the time.
I like the Yamaha one but... what size is it?
why dont they put fret markers on classical guitars? my memory is shot, i need them.
