I purchased my first charcoal grill, a Weber 22" performer in 1999, Still going strong 23 years later! I keep it covered and use it all year round. Over the years I've added a smokey Joe, Ranch Kettle and a 22" smokey mountain. Love the Vlog.

My father purchased some crappy $50 grill last year and when they were going to do their first grill earlier this year, the thing was completely loose and things had to be tightened down. I just purchased them a 22" Weber Premium for them because I enjoy mine so much and didn't think they should suffer with the garbage he bought.

😅 I bought a cheapo one a while back, although I wanted a Weber I couldn’t afford it at the time. But that lil thing after a few uses did start to come apart. Especially here in Hawaii, the weather just destroyed it. Got a Weber now, so far so good. Love this thing, plus a lot easier to clean and just… it’s amazing. My dream grill. I only need this. Been grilling and smoking meats, gonna buy a rotisserie add on, super excited.

Thank you for the you tube videos. I am looking for part 3 and 4 of your lump charcoal comparisons. I was also wondering why no reviews of the PK grills? I have done extensive reviews and found that the PK grills especially the PK 360 is very solid, getting great reviews. Your thoughts?

My first grill was a $35 piece of junk in college from Walmart. Got two seasons out of it and it looked ROUGH. Put it on the curb for garbage pickup when we moved. Looking at grills now that we moved south and bought our first home. I get people like charcoal flavor, but as far as upkeep and maintenance what is the difference between gas and charcoal? I figure gas would be easier to clean and faster start-up compared to the whole charcoal process. Sorta like the Blackstone for easy cleanup, but what's the difference from the griddle or pan on the stove inside at that point.

I've been a Weber fan for years, I love my kettle. I just bought a Char-Griller gravity 980, look into it, it is a great smoker/grill. also kamato now has a kettle with fire brick insulation in the fire box, it looks awesome I'm looking at getting one of those next. it's a little pricey, they're about 500 bucks. It's a 22-in kettle, it's from kamado Joe, they call it the kamado kettle, but I've been looking at them and I might give it a go. Also love local Ace hardware for grilling supplies. Great video. Keep them coming 💪

😂 I’ll have to share this video with my wife, she bought the Americana charcoal grill, the first red one on your video! I modified it with a grill wok on fire bricks to get better air flow and put a thermometer on it! The paint is peeling off already after a year and it’s falling apart! Anyways I love the performer, I don’t really care for the Weber Komodo, maybe it was put together poorly from ace hardware and the WSM I hate the concept of dissembling it every time to use it! I would love one grill that can do it all without babysitting, so I’m leaning towards the Weber performer or possibly the pk 360, but I’m not a huge fan of the grill layout and don’t care for the vent setup, I’m starting to realize there is no perfect grill! What do you recommend?

I love my Weber SmokeFire but when it came to a kettle, I bought a Slow N Sear and I think it competes and beats Weber in most things. Weber has more options which is the only drawback if you want to use a rotisserie. That does not interest me at this point so no biggie. But the smoke hole, probe port hole, and the thermometer being in a location that is useful, it's a beast. Not even mentioning the slow and sear system as that could be replicated (sort of) with the Weber baskets. That said, I am either looking at a Weber 26" or the Summit for the future sometime. Guess I'm saying there are other great options besides Weber when it comes to kettles.

These are good suggestions. Purchasing a cheap, badly-design grill often ends up discouraging people from pursuing BBQ; I recall getting a tinfoil-thin open grill in the late 2000s and it made the experience so poor and unpleasant that I got disinterested in the whole shebang. It wouldn't stay hot, it wouldn't hold enough coals, it was flimsy and unstable. It took many, many years to get curious and passionate again, and when I got back to it I decided to do some research first and went Weber 22 first, Pit Barrel Cooker next, and a tiny (but well-built) stick burner last. The latter in particular took a year or so to find, as they're not common at all in Italy, and no one had a 1/4" thick one to sell. Took a while, but I'm extremely happy now. I cook outside 3 to 5 times a week, it's become a lifestyle-and it almost never happened because of a poor purchase 20 years ago

1:53 that "cheap" Webber also has an ash catcher, it is the pan that is attached to the three legs, just not a nice as the "premium" one. They both cook meat the same, heh. I've been a fan of char-griller grills and smokers. On my second one after 15 years of using them.

I’m with you Craig, it’s Weber or nothing. I’ll likely never buy another gasser because, well, they’re inferior in taste. Period. But have two Weber’s if I want the convenience of time. Which is almost never! The kettles get used all the time, they are the primary cookers. I did just grab a Smokefire and a GMG Davey Crockett for camping and lake trips so in the early stages of pellets. Leaves some to be desired coming from charcoal.

Got an employee discount from one of my customers who owns an outdoor store, on anything I wanted after the pandemic started. I did my research. I wanted something portable that could do it all, and then some. I selected the Weber Summit Charcoal Grilling Station ( different name now ) and have become an expert in slow cooks and smoking, along with grilling. The table is great, and you can hang up the racks, and put hot things underneath. Comes with a better plate than the new model, that you can open up on two sides for indirect cooking A Fireboard 2 Drive completes this system by monitoring temp.s and keeping them consistent with a blower system. There is a hole already with a plug to put the blower in. SnS Grills recently reintroduced their low profile slow n Sear with water trough, that fits this model. Was pissed when they stopped making it. Also ordered a cast iron griddle and drip pan to make my system complete. Folks always compliment the looks of my cooker, which I use all year long.

You said many times do not disrespect your loved ones with a cheap shitty grill and was almost boasting about how you could afford or someone should be able to afford an expensive grill. Just remember some people are not fortunate enough to make enough money to get high end items and sometimes those cheap shitty grills are a prized possession to some people.

It's not about expensive grills or high end items. A cheap grill will cost $50 and start falling apart after a year or two. A Webber kettle starts around $100 and will last more than a few years even outside in the rain. Ten year warranty on the Webber kettle grill.

This is a difficult time of year for this but still good. As to the local bbq store, if you got one great. But many folks don't have one. If big box is all you got, make do. Also to consider although not recommended is folks like Amazon and e-commerce people. There are great purchases to be found used like on Craigslist. Thing here is you were kinda hitting two groups. The new first timers and the folks who have been doing the bbq thing awhile but are now graduating to something better and perhaps more of a dedicated technique, like a dedicated smoker. As the new year comes and goes I think it would be great for your veiwers to address this again but in different videos. It's also important for ALL of us to not get to full of ourselves and disrespect a type of cooker. For some folks for example a propane grill is actually a great thing. They perhaps only wish to grill. They don't like cleaning up much and they want quick grilling after work and go to bed. However some of us like to go all in. I do agree Webber makes great products despite there roll out problems. Let's just go back to the roll out of the " Smoke fire". Or the Summit. They should have just called it what it is, a Kamado. With some great advantages over traditional Kamado's, like no ceramic to some day ( some sooner than others) Crack. They are not" immortal ". When I'm asked if you can only have one cooker what would it be ( also if it's your first cooker ) I say hands down the 22" Webber kettle. The reason I recommend the 22" instead is the price ( first time buyers) and the additional accessories available to the 22". As to the much more pricey equipment, well. If you were to ask me 3 or 4 years ago what would be the most I would spend on a outside cooker would be? I would have said not much more then about $500. Well times change. I received my Large Lonestargrillz Insulated Vertical Smoker last spring. I'm placing my order for the large Lonestargrillz Santa Maria grill tomorrow. Plus I currently have two offsets, two 22" WSM'S, two Propane Vertical cabinet water Smokers ( they have been reduced to mostly smoking salmon, absolutely perfect for salmon), various portable Smokers, both propane and charcoal. And yes my Webber 22" kettle. Opp's, almost forgot my Lodge cast iron sportsmen grill. It's basically a hibachi, love it. Ok I wasn't bragging, just pointing out our prospective of what you should have or get has changed over the years. By the way I love your kettle collection. So I hoping to see you revisit this again but in two different videos. Let's be kind to the folks who are just beginning to join our crazy world. Last thing on the Webber 22" kettle for the new cooks. The 22" ketcan do anything. Grill, bbq and smoke. Grill a steak, smoke a turkey or smoke a brisket. That's a great place to start. Looking forward to seeing your accessories video. Always looking forward to seeing new " toys" 🔪😁
