@@David-gj9qr I think there are problems with the companies lowering pay for their drivers depending on the amount of tips the app knows they receive. So they aren't getting paid properly because the companies are basically counting tips as their own pay.

I love food delivery apps. Every time I can't decide what to do for dinner, I go onto one of them, find something I really want, get to the checkout page where they tell me what the total's going to be after all the fees, and then say "eh, I'll just get something out of the fridge." Saves me a ton of money on eating out.

We all get the food we want, accurate, and the guy making the run gets a free lunch. it works, try it fam.

So in turn, the restaurant adds like 30-40% markup to every menu item if you order through a delivery app. In the end, I don't know why or how this has become a better option for restaurants than simply hiring a driver.

With gig economics tipping culture is only a tiny fraction of the problem. Take uber drivers for example, they pay for gas, insurance, car maintenance, value depreciation, and are contracted as self employed so have to file as 1099 under taxes. Yet uber takes like a 85% cut and massively overcharges the passenger (passenger assumes its all going to the driver, so they don't tip). End of the day after expenses the driver is making less than half of min wage.

I've been a professional delivery driver and in customer service for decades and now I'm a contractor for a couple of delivery on demand services and this is really true and really funny. As most of these services operate in the red, I don't like customers getting hit for a ton of fees and have never liked any type of gratuity. Way back if you rendered good quality service with professional courtesy, then that would most of the time convince people that you had rendered good customer service and earned a tip. This whole entitlement system has been a massive negative for anyone in any customer service industry. Though in all honesty it just means you have to work harder, especially if you care about doing a good job and taking care of your customers.
