Everything you experience is mediated by change is an important point. Also using labels in the context that that they either improve or worsen self efficacy in individuals is mediated by their unique interal expectancies beliefs about what that particular label means to them. What is important is that the person has a clear idea of what is happening to them in such a way that they are able to use their own language to make sense of it. I.e. people who believe they have schizophrenia and take their medication are going to do better than one who take their medication and don't believe they have schizophrenia. However, individuals who take their medication and believe they have schizophrenia won't necessarily do better than those who take their medication but have a clear alternative language though which to name their symptoms and experience. Patients who share an inclusive language with their doctors are going to form a better therapeutic alliance with them if their doctors don't understand their own made up language and lens though which they speak about symptoms and illness.

The blues vs PPD is a helpful delineation. If only people said my mood feels down, instead of depressed. It would help to eliminate some ambiguity.
