What Exactly is a Serious Problem Faced by Modern Russian Air Forces?
Since the end of the Cold War, the profile of Russia’s Air Force is one that has not evolved so much. Consequently, there has been many serious accident took place. The most recent one is the killing of three pilots and injuring a fourth due to ejection system of a Tu-22M3 bomber accidentally activated during pre-flight checks, and the low altitude not allowing for the crew’s parachutes to open, had killed Collonel Vadim Beloslyudtsev, the commander of the bomber unit at Shaikovka airbase. Moreover, the accident took place on January 2019 when the two Su-34s collided while conducting training over the Sea of Japan. Only one pilot was recovered from the water alive. Additionally, just four days later, a Tu-22M3 attempted to land at Olenegorsk airbase in the Arctic when a sudden (and, in their defence, unpredictable in that region) blizzard was passing through. The main landing gear hit the runway with such impact that the aircraft folded in two and exploded on the runway. Those are, to name a few, among the long string of incidents and mishap happening to the Rusian Air Force.
