@rambysophistry1220 idk. There's just something about criminalizing ones right to exist if they don't have a house that feels like it's in need of a pretty significant word to illustrate the legit change that has just happened in our country. Dystopian is used so frequently it just feels like it's the only word yet it doesn't really have any umph anymore...

My city had the largest tent city in the state about a year ago. Our previous mayor was elected with promises to fix homelessness, but later infanously said she didnt have the "bandwidth" to deal with it. So she waited until 500 people moved to a vacate plot set aside for a new future freeway, and then let the county sheriff force all of them to move somewhere else. Only recently, we got a new shelter, but the shelter is in an industrial area with no sidewalks. Now even thar shelter is closing. All the shleters around here are run by religious institutions, so somebody who isnt that religion or is atheist will forced to either listen to it, or stay homeless. My city built slanted slabs into the bridge's seats because homeless people were sleeping on them. They put spikes on the walls so they can's sit. They put fences under overpasses, making crissing impossible for regular pedestrians. All they had to do was build more housing and services, but our government would rather spend MORE money to ... not do anything.

I cannot fully express how comforting it is to hear someone else say how screwed we are. I am around so many people who are so high on copium they can't see the threat right in front of them, like the "Dot and Bubble" episode from the new Doctor Who series. I try to explain to my coworkers why I am so anxious all the time right now and they just keep telling me it will get better. GETTING BETTER EVENTUALLY DOESN'T CHANGE WHAT'S HAPPENING RIGHT NOW!

The current economic system requires at least a 3% unemployment rate to prevent runaway inflation. Criminalising a homeless population lies in direct opposition to an essential component of the very system that creates them. It's absolutely monstrous.

As someone who grew up in the 80s and remembers all the dystopian sci-fi, it's frustrating. The warnings have been there for decades, and all anyone ever wants to do is turn a blind eye and pretend it's all fiction. There has been a push for a peaceful left wing revolution for years now, and every time it gets shut down by liberals(often with hypocritical hostility). And now they want to blame everyone but themselves for ignoring the issues. I don't know what the right move is either. What I do know is whether or not we've been trying to make a difference, us older gens owe the younger ones a massive apology for continually passing the buck. Now a whole new generation is going to have bear the burden of it.

Or homeless shelters are set up nowhere near a bus stop. I'm technically homeless, but between family and friends I have temporary places to stay so I won't end up in a shelter. I have PTSD from severe peer abuse and 90% was from girls. Even as an adult I'm afraid of large groups of women I don't know. And as a trans man, I guarantee they'll place me in a women's shelter. So I'll be in a place full of PTSD triggers as a passing man.

Thats how you survive its not fear , its situational awareness.. the best thing about Non complicated tool making , is their extremly reliable and can be used in defense .. bow , and flint , and hand axe are tools 1st and defensive as well. They don't get gunked up by loss of oil and miss firing , and you can readly find more resources to make new ones . Kinda not the same situation of fire arms in such a case.

10:08 'at a certain point just going about your daily life is gonna involve committing crimes' is so real. for the past year ive been taking the bus as my main mode of transportation and cash as my main form of payment, and since i look young i exclusively pay the 'youth' fares or not at all. for 8 months i took the bus 2-3 hours each way every day to get to work, taking 2 buses im my hometown, 1 regional bus to cross a river, and 2 trains to get there. in my hometown they didnt give out tickets after you paid, meaning you had no way of 'proving' you paid for the earlier in cash so you would need to pay again. the regional bus is twice the cost of a normal fare and you have to pay it, you cant use a normal fare. then you pay for a fare that lasts for 2 and a half hours. since my work naturally lasted longer, it would mean if i were doing it the 'right' way, i would have to pay all over again. in total this would be 7 dollars to get one way, 7 dollars back, if i properly paid every adult fare. instead, i skipped all fares except regional, and hid the printing time on the ticket when taking the regional bus back several hours later, costing me $1.25 a day instead not only is this horrible, it gets worse! normally an adult bus fare is $2.50, but recently it was changed to smth like $2.70. not only is this more expensive for no reason, it is so obviously directly affecting the people with lowest access to technology who only use cash. 2.50 you can just carry around quarters, but 2.70? actually impossible. its disgusting, especially counting that its more expensive to have bus fares and hire bus cops than it is to literally just make the bus free for everyone i was not and still cannot afford to pay proper bus fares because of the genuine evil of it all, so my life consists of constantly being wary of bus cops who could throw me out or have me excluded or fine me
