just finished my open water 10 days ago, still waiting for my certification but in short it was awesome... except that my buddy blew his eardrum and got a terrible infection but he was in good spirits and was able to finish the course since the symptoms hadn't set in until two days later.

We're full-time vegan travelers (who met working for Sea Shepherd) and we went straight from our open water to advanced back to back. We just bought a bunch of equipment too and can't wait to live underwater for as long as possible. Thanks for all your helpful info and tips!

Fun fact, so I have a steel rod in my femur and found I'd be really sore after diving, then I bought scuba pro fins amazing! They are made to keep your legs in the ideal form, they were a little straining when I first tried them and after a few goes they helped my form so much and barely feel any leg pain now

Hi Katt! Recently I just bought a pair of fins and boots, because I normally wear shoes that are bigger and have some space in front, then I bought the boots in the same way... Later I tried them in the pool I realised my feet were not fixed in those boots which made a bit harder to swim... Do you have any suggestions that can improve this?? Thank you in advance!!

Hello Katt. I know this is an Old Video. Last Sat I had a Snorkeling Class held by a local Dive Shop. Bought my own gear. As I i need Rx Lenses. Things went pretty well. Considering I have gone snorkeling in about 30 years. Until, I went to Tread Water in the Deep End. Developed Cramps in my Calves. I was able to get myself out of the middle to the ladder. Wonder if maybe the Fins I was using were the cause? Sherwood Elite FF. Stiffer than I am used to. Got some Good Speed out of them. Wonder if I started with the Rubber or Split Fins first?? There was also a Scuba Class going on. At Least 12 Divers in the pool. Working around each other. Wasn't an Olympic Sized pool. L Shaped at a local Swim Club.

You would use the snorkel on the surface, before descending to your dive, swimming to the designated descent spot, and just in case you surface far away from the boat. The snorkel helps keep your airway clear incase of large waves

I always think regs are more personal than a bcd, so I would go for regs. You will know the service history, where the mouth piece has been and don't forget regs are a life saving bit of equipment, so they need to be looked after!

Hey Katt, I've been diving for quite a while now, and when I started I didn't know that I was going to be all serious and all, so I (just) invested in Scubapro Jet Sport fins (which is not bad at all), but seeing your video and seeing many divers using the Scubapro Seawing Nova, I feel really jealous (they look so cool). I haven't tried diving with the Seawing Nova yet, but my question is, is it really that good? Is it worth to upgrade from my Scubapro Jet Sport that I already own? By the way, check out my latest dive, close to a popular landmark in Timor-Leste, the Cristo Rei Statue: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mXV9t5OvcpbAoZs.html.

  • @OceanPancake

Personally, I think the seawing novas are miles ahead the jet sport. Jet sports are a good basic fin, they do the job, are not too heavily and generally durable. When selling in the shop, they would be my go to fin for starting divers. The seawing novas however do give you a significant amount of power with minimal effort, they look cool and the amount of engineering that has gone into them to make them this efficient is fantastic. I absolutely love them and have met very few people who were unhappy with them. If you ever give them a try, you will find the jetsports heavy in the water and giving you less propulsion. If you do have a chance, I would say ask to borrow some from a felow diver :)
