What Engineering Failures Can Teach You: The Leduc Liquid Nitrogen Disaster 2018
On November 15, 2018, 3 men went into work at Millenium Cryogenic Technologies in Leduc, AB, Canada. The company used liquid nitrogen coolers to service oilfield equipment. At around 2pm, 911 arrived in response to a distress call. They found all 3 men dead from nitrogen aspyxiation.
How does something like this happen? Nitrogen accidents are extremely rare. How does something so inert become so deadly, and what mistakes led up to this?

Good video !
Safety is so important.
OMG! What an unfortunate accident that could have been easily avoided! Thank you for this great informative video! Would love to see more of these. 👍
Outstanding video… I remember that day.. we should all remember that day, and this video reminds us, we should never forget that day… Involuntary yes… Tragic even more yes..RIP 3..🙏🙏🙏
Kinda morbid but I really like engineering disaster videos. If you wanna lean into this you should do 10 minute videos and more clickbatey titles

Thanks. Ya a little morbid for me too haha not sure about doing future ones. I’ve worked with cryogenics, and this actually occurred in my hometown and I was always curious as to what exactly happened. When I read the OHS report, I figured it would be a good case to share.
Great video! Can’t believe the fine was only $500k for three deaths
Wow.. this hits deep😢
