Actually, you got lots of answers: Are Loki & Sylvie siblings or the same person? Same person, confirmed. Who is the "Man behind the curtain" ala Wizard of Oz? "He Who Remains" Who is in charge? "He Who Remains" Does pruning destroy people/things? No, it sends them to the void at the end of time, so they can come back (ala Mobius & Loki), can survive there indefinitely (all the Lokis, Mobius, Throg in a Jar), or potentially be consumed by a living cloud of entropy. Will Loki & Sylvie kiss? Yes Is Ravonna Renslayer in charge? Sort of, her other life is as a principal, and she is high up in the TVA, but she still gets info from Miss Minutes & still gets orders from above. What happened to Hunter B-15? Locked away, but gets free. What happens if Sylvie stabs "He Who Remains"? The Sacred Timeline frays and branches. See, questions answered... however, every answer is replaced with many branching questions... how very appropriate for a series about maintaining a single focus and preventing a branching tree of knowledge & infinite possibilities.

He Who Remains is a variant of a character called Kang the Conqueror. As he explained that there’s many more of himself. This is was the variant that was able to conquer the other versions at least in this time line. This sort of means that what happened in the first part of the MCU was an altered universe which means that what happened was meant to happen according to He Who Remains. It was to keep the other versions of himself from defeating him or some other characters that weren’t present in the MCU such as the Fantastic Four or the X-men. We know in reality that Marvel was not able to use these characters but now they can use them instead of rebooting them it’s more convenient to say that they were not allowed to exist in the altered universe because they could have possibly defeated He Who Remains and restored the universe possibly allowing a different version of Kang to conquer the universe.

And this is how they also explain Captain America going back in time although they said in End Game that was not possible. It's not but they didn't know there was a single timeline. It also explains why Steve didn't prevent any of the things he knew would happen. Everytime he tried he was pruned by the TVA. I really liked Loki for correcting the MCU mistakes and give them an in-world explanation.

  • @BYERE

    @BYERE

Slightly more simply put, He Who Remains wrote and micro-managed the "Sacred" timeline, pruning branches so that no other varient of him ever exists. He won the Multiversal War by default, removing all the other players before they could sit at the table. With him not longer controlling the timeline, all those varients pop into being, starting the Multiversal War all over again.

Nathaniel Richards lived in the 31st century. He discovered the long-lost Space-Time Platform invented by the most dangerous man who ever lived, Doctor Doom. With it, Nathaniel Richards traveled through time, and if you've seen ENDGAME and the final episode of LOKI se01, then you realize "traveled through time" = "traveled to other universes" in the Multiverse. As he did, transtemporal variants of himself were created. This is where the Dynasty of Kangs originated. The Kangs are, more or less, wicked variants of Nathaniel Richards (Kang-Prime). It is the Kangs who collapse their dynasty or council, and wage a Multiversal War, killing each other, and wiping out entire timelines/universes. The one that wins it all, the ultimate Kang the Conqueror, becomes "He-Who-Remains." Nathaniel Richards is the 31st-century descendant of REED Richards/Mister Fantastic, leader of the Fantastic Four, and archrival of Doctor Victor Von Doom, the most dangerous man who ever lived and inventor of the Space-Time Platform without which there would be no Kangs. Reed and Doom lived in the 1960s. Went to college together in the late 30s, early 40s. They were two of the most brilliant human beings ever to live. The reason for introducing the Kangs is to introduce us to the Fantastic Four and Doctor Doom.

i personally like to look at the Multiverse as a a forest. Each Universe a single Tree within a large endless forest. Each tree having their own branches, alternate timelines. Summed up: Forest - *Multiverse* Tree - *Universe* Branches - *Timelines* The MCU we've been following since Iron Man (2008) is one of these trees. it has branches that we see highlighted in Endgame and Loki. Alternate histories that give birth to branched timelines or people simply interfering with past events like the Avengers in Endgame. Another tree in this massive forest (multiverse ) would be the Fox X-Men films. They exist within their own tree with alternate timelines as well. Both MCU and Fox films connected by being in the same forest but divided by separate trees. If a tree's branches are left unchecked they could overlap and clash with neighbouring tree's causing mayhem and who knows what. The Sacred Timeline was simply the term designated to the collection of realities that were isolated after the Multiversal War with the MCU being the mainline Timeline of which everything else branched off from. Keeping them "save" from his variants who existed outside of the Sacred Timeline with the final events of Loki opening up the Multiverse once again. Pretty much by having an isolated timeline He Who Remains could make sure his variants never rise to power.

All of time is options, frequently just yes/no... starting with does the big bang happen... you are close, the multiverse is a single organism forest... all the trees began from a single point, and while above ground the trees seem seperate, they all in fact stem from deep below the surface having a single point of origin, the trees further out from the origin point, the "younger" trees are the ones that took longer to say "Yes" to the big bang, ergo they didn't start to sprout as soon as others... now, while on the surface, the trees can have similarities (names are the same, similar life events) at the core they are different (Medieval Theme Avengers & X-Men vs Nazi Rule vs Zombie vs Animal vs Dinosaur vs Apes vs Cartoonish vs DC vs Amalgam vs Prime)

What you need to understand Ashleigh, is Sylvia is the equivalent of Loki on her timeline but while each version of a person in different universes based on alternate timelines and such is the same person, they can also be their own unique individual selves. It’s said we are a product of our environment. This is true also of our experiences. Changes of the timeline mean things are subtly or not so subtly different and that means we can end up with different memories and a different personality. I’d argue that makes us different people to our alternate timeline equivalents. So when Loki kisses Sylvie, it’s the same personas him but different (I mean very obviously so, born a woman in her timeline not to mention all the other differences in her life etc). If it’d been a Loki much more similar to him then it would’ve been more weird. Probably best not to think about just like trying to think about the ultimate nature and meaning of the universe ain’t useful to the old noggin.

And I'm not on Patreon, so I'll cast my vote here: Please, please, please continue with the MCU! I've enjoyed your reactions to this franchise so much, and I can't wait to see more.

Scarlet Witch is within time while Loki is outside of time. Episode 9 of Wandavision is a specific point of time and Loki is beyond time. Every moment of Loki theoretically lines up with every moment of the MCU. Besides, the showrunners have said it was just a coincidence.

Classic Loki is heavily implied to just be what happened to the Loki we saw “die” in Infinity War. Meaning his big Ride Of The Valkyries scene, recreating Asgard out of light, was the final act in that character arc.

Just mentioning WE had to wait almost 2 years from Season 1 until 2, so feel the frustration. Season 1 did answer most of the questions, just opened up a new set of them. The big thing of this is now the Multi verse just became a reality, which begins affecting all our remaining characters.

When these shows come out, they usually do a two-episode "event", then release the rest an episode every week. So each season/series unfolds over two-three months if it's not binged.

Some Lokis are versions of Loki, but some Lokis are so different that they're basically completely different characters. Like Old Loki is essentially the same Loki, but the only difference is that he survived Thanos and got old. Sylvie was born different and lived a totally different life. She's essentially a totally different character. She just shares some common background up until like the age of 10.

Episode 5 was an Easter Egg fest. Polybius, the mythical videogame. The Thanos copter that he used to have in the comics, “Throg,” and of course, they’ve been drinking Josta soda all season. I miss that stuff from the 90s. And lots more Easter Eggs too.

At the time of the original airing of Loki Season 1, the cast for Antman: Quantumania had already been announced at least one year prior, and it included Jonathan Majors as "Kang The Conqueror", a great actor who everyone said was going to do great things in the MCU (all before his falling out of grace recently with his legal woes). Jonathan Majors showing up FIRST in the last episode of Loki Season 1 was a HUGE thing for fans, because it was expected he would make his MCU debut in the upcoming Antman movie. Majors still got to appear in Antman: Quantumania (as Kang) and got to film Loki Season 2 (incredible series) before finally getting dropped by Disney/Marvel, leaving the upcoming "Avengers 5: Kang Dynasty" film in limbo (do they recast Kang with another actor, do they scrap that villain and go for someone else, etc.)

There was a big buzz around who was in the castle at the end of time. Is it Dr. Doom? Is it Mr. Fantastic? I can’t recall completely, but I think the reveal of it being a Kang variant was a bit disappointing. Fun fact: Remember Loki is a frost giant. So he didn’t need a blanket for him AND Sylvie. All just flirting.

26:01 If you play the finale of WandaVision simultaneously with this finale, He Who Remains’ expression changes just as Wanda changes into the Scarlet Witch. So it’s implied that Wanda unleashed the chaos that stops him from seeing this future, which allows Sylvie to kill him, which opens up the Multiverse. (Which is why you shouldn’t watch “What If?” until you watch this.)

You missed a huge part of He Who Remains' speech. Go back and listen again. It was a multiversal war between all of himselves. All super scientists, all bent on ruling all reality. He put an end to it by eliminating the other timelines. As long as he kept the single timeline and looped it, there would be no time ending multiverse war. That is why there was a statue of him, his variants are now in a super war for EVERYTHING lol

Yes. We got one episode per week, coming out on Disney+ every... Thursday, I think. So, consider yourself lucky that you're getting to just binge straight through this, while the rest of us got left with a week-long gap to process each cliffhanger. Even for Loki season 2, it was cliffhangers every week, and... count yourself LUCKY that you'll be able to watch THAT one in one go. I'm just sad that it's going to be a good while before you get to Loki season 2. Knowing what happens there, so many of the things you said in this episode gave me a good laugh XD And I don't mean that to be unpleasant. More... hindsight is a real bitch with this. But... you'll find out about that. Also, Jonathan Majors was the actor they set up to play the next big-bad of the MCU. However, with his recent trial and conviction, Marvel has dropped him HARD. So, they're having to figure out what to do with all of this now. Still, I LOVE the character development that we have seen from Loki through this show. Yes, he's the god of mischief... but like his brother told him... he can be so much more than that. Working toward that goal... now, I don't know about you, but that sounds like a pretty darn glorious purpose to me. THOUGH! If you wanted to fast-track a little bit, you could jump straight to Quantumania and then to Season 2... just saying.
