Above I believe someone is using a fake Parker the Bass Head account to contact me. Could you please let me know if this is legitimate or fake? It's in the comments above.
Never tried their subs but their mids are some of the best out their for the price. I have 2 of their MD8 on a taramps smart 3k at 4ohms and it takes that power nicely. I'm going back to their MR8 because they're some of the cleanest sounding vocal heavy mids.

Big Jeff is the new kid on the block with JP already having been there for awhile & I think it’s the best thing that could happen for all of us sq & basshead guys. I greatly appreciate them both & I’m extremely grateful for their presence in the car audio world…oh yeah, can’t forget Sky High Car Audio in there…sky high is also great, but they seriously need to rework their online website, It’s a total pain in the culo to navigate…. Waiting on some 8 gauge ofc subwoofer wire from them right now & forget about finding out where it is as far as the shipment chain..

I've never heard of big Jeff...thanks good deals
Look like it did fine to me. I really dont think anyone out there will push it as hard as you did with that 3 minute sound track. Sure it gives a idea of it will make ot through without any problems but I hope nobody takes the video the wrong way. Like you said in the video, music goes up and down and allows a subwoofer to cool during the time it is playing instead of hard hitting test tone for a period of time. I might have to check into a pair of 15's or 18's for my next build I'm working on.
I agree running separate wires and summing them at the terminals or soldering wires together into 1 because of tiny terminals does suck. I had n NVX vcw few years back n it had tinsey terminals. The AB elites 12s I built a box and put together for buddy had small terminals I had Y them together with soldier.

Put the torture test to some subs you have lying around...if you don't mind if they blow. Parker rules. Big Jeff the basshead has a good ring to it as well. Great video love the spl tests!!!
Very surprised that it took that out of the box free air. That's pretty damn good for a budget sub. I should also mention that most every subwoofer manufacturer states that in free air environment the subwoofer RMS is about 1/4. So this subwoofer actually far surpassed that.
You should use threaded inserts in your boxes instead of wood screws. I started doing that and you can move subs in and out without ruining the baffle
DB is my favorite brand.
Great video
From what I seen a good test box for subs has been qbomb I have had bdc4s and comp c’s in there and they are relatively different on what they require for space but they both preformed outstanding in the qbomb

@Chuck_Sanders
Жыл бұрын
@@ParkerTheBasshead I see your point, but nobody is playing/burping subs in a free air environment. Doing the tests in the enclosure is actually more optimal, as 90% of subs aren't designed for infinite baffle/ free air. I personally, would start testing in the enclosure, as that's how you'll truly torture test the driver properly. Plus your viewers will get a better idea, if which subwoofers handle rated power and which ones cooling is better than others. 👍 for a good review.
@jarrodbrennan121

old school rule of thumb is you half the rms for free air. some subs are underated some over rated. also using a random ported box to test a woofer isnt exactly fair to the sub. box size and port tuning matter.

Have a question, I can do with your opinion. If I have a 2500 watt amplifier but wired it to 2 ohm and it's rated at around 1200 Watts, would I necessarily have to upgrade my electrical or could it safely operate with an Agm, ultra capacitor and a 120 amp alternator?

@@TheRepos296 you should be fine.. when you say ultra cap are you speaking of an actual ultra cap? Like ioxus or xs power? If so I have the ioxus and I've comfortably ran my Rockford 1200.1 which actually does around 1500 off just the cap and xs power battery up front

Parker the Bass Head how did they do on lows with such a high fs of 39hz? Always been curious about that. Probably more SPL subs than SQ I'm guessing.

Nice but you really need to review any Resilient Sounds subwoofers. Come on Parker you really need to review the Gold or Platinum series🙂💯
My full car audio system is Timpano and I have these same 2 x 12" in my car and they play really amazing. I have the Timpano 3k amp on them. I had them in a ported box first sounded amazing, now i have them in a 4th order bandpass box tuned to 49hz and they sound even more amazing. The bass line matches up well enough for my midrange of 8 x 8" Timpano MD8 Slim in my 2 front doors
Nothin’ like the magic smoke!
I was thinking about grabbing a set of these so glad for your review I know that they would not hold up to what I have but for the price and if somebody ran some lower wattage on them they would be great for that application but I need something that could continuously handle what I throw at them for RMS power thank you for the video brother always keeping it real it's not like it's a bad sub that thing was moving I can't wait to see what the other subs do of this brand there's always some that do or I could do what's rated could just be one of those subs that it just can't go full-tilt like it literally has to break in for some time before you can do that to it the torture test thing but stay up and stay Bassin and keep the videos coming brother 🔊🔊🤙🏼
I think skar used that frame in one of the discontinued subs while back
“Well damn”-Gucci mane voice lol
I Still have one of there subs. There ok for starters nothing wrong really, just don't expect them to take crazy power. That being said their bullet 6.5^s are something else. they take crazy power and very very loud, you'd be surprised what they sound like too. You should try them on for size . I was and still am impressed. I'm keeping them Thanks for reviewing these subs. Great fun. 👍
But we all know the enclosure is what decides how well the sub plays
best places to get subs
Subwoofer power ratings are an expression of what the speakers are supposed to handle while INSIDE the enclosure. The pressure from the backwave helps to stabilize the motion of the cone and prevent the woofer from over-excurting. This is why sealed woofers handle more power than ported. By running RMS power to a woofer in a free-air situation you are significantly overloading the voice coil and suspension. In essence, you're testing a product in an application it was never designed for. To then draw a conclusion and broadcast it to your viewers (that the woofer can't handle its RMS rating) might be a bit irresponsible
@davidmarles9409
Жыл бұрын
What you said about a sealed box is true but not for a ported box since playing below tuning frequency causes unloading and the sub acts like it's in a free air setup. This test was an extremely tuff test on the sub but it is a very accurate test. In a sealed box heat is trapped inside the box and the sub can get very hot very fast. This test was valid for what it was....a torture test as he said. Pretty apparent these are SPL subs with a high fs of 39hz so he did to them what SPL competition does.....beats the hell out of them!
@e-mailuser9811
Жыл бұрын
It's true that sealed woofers trap heat inside the box, but companies can take that into consideration when coming up with power ratings. What they don't factor in, is free-air performance.
@davidmarles9409
Жыл бұрын
@@e-mailuser9811 that's not true. Many many companies rate there speakers for free air use. You just have to pay attention to the manufacturer suggestions. Which as I said before for most subs they specifically state in free air the speakers RMS power is cut in half or sometimes a 1/4 of it's rated power. Also you assume all manufacturers specifically say to use a sealed box when in fact many subs on the market are designed specifically for vented/ported boxes. Any sub with a QTS parameter of .7 or higher is suitable for free air play.
I say grab an American Bass "King" right when they come out! 4.5 inch voice coil, 6,500 watts rms!😳

I only like running copper coils they sound way better and take power better because copper doesn't contract and expand as much as aluminum.
My wife has two of these 12s in a build and they absolutely pound it's on 3k does 149.8 db in a trunk of a 2006 Toyota Avalon on a hot day
I would love for you to test the Ground Shaker 30 Hz box for two 12" inch subs the Box is amazing it has Bracings on the inside I can honestly say that it is amazing and I know for fact it will do better then the skar box I think it's $280 and it takes a week or two to show up they ship out from California and I know if you buy the right hardware screw's the ones you have to hammer in from the back and the Allen key bolts for the front it's a heavy box but that also insures if you invert your subs that the Box is not going to tip over that would be great for a video and see what the decibel reading for each box with the same subs in both boxes one that's tuned lower but is a little smaller in CF compared to one that's bigger an tuned a little higher just to see what the difference is based on what you pay for I own the Ground Shaker 30 Hz box and I can say it's been amazing 🔊🔊🤙🏼

Yeah yeah yeah
I don't think an rms rating is at free air. More like around recommended enclosure specs. No way for it to build pressure behind the cone to keep it linear.
