    I’m an HR manager and I can tell you that I am busy all day long. HR can be amazing or annoying. There’s always the good side and bad. It’s difficult to do your job sometimes and make sure the company is compliant when management or the owners of the company isn’t on the same page. It really makes life difficult. Dealing with toxic workplace and toxic employees is stressful. It’s also a downer when you walk into a room and it falls silent. I’ve had people tell me I make them nervous or say that whenever they see me people think they are in trouble or about to get fired. It’s a unique job and you’re privy to lots of extremely confidential information. Management will definitely make you do the dirty work. Hiring people and giving pay increases and promotions is always awesome. Terminations and disciplinary action not so much. HR professionals do wear many hats; teacher, counselor, paralegal, accountant, analyst, writer, proofreader, etc. you will always be busy! I enjoy working in HR though it wasn’t my first career choice. It’s not for everyone though.

    Hi, if there are no new recruits for several months what do you do on a daily? I work at a company where the disciplinaries are almost always similar and policies and procedures are in place to guide the proceedings. The HR rep is almost always just the organizer and observer (from my observation). Their involvement is usually dictated by the experience of the chairperson.

    I went ahead and typed out my day to day for anyone that is curious. Granted every company is different, this is what I do as head of hr for a firm of roughly 30 people. My current day to day: At 8:30am I go to zip recruiter and pull 30-40 fresh resumes to cold call throughout the day At 8:45 I reply to any emails I may have gotten throughout the night At 9:00am I begin to call the fresh leads At 9:30am I begin to log the employees arrival time to ensure everyone is on time, and I welcome new employees to the building/ giving tours/ new hire paperwork At 10:00am I call any late employees to make sure they are safe and on their way to work At 10:30am I send out confirmation texts to all of our meetings for the day From 10:40am-12:00pm I focus on cold calling and recruiting for new employees From 12:00pm-1:00pm I take my lunch From 1:00pm-4:00pm I focus mainly on calls, helping my team continue to learn and grow, help the Market Director with any issues he has, and help new starts find their footing within the company From 4:00pm-5:00pm I do call to offers for those who did well in their second interview, send out new hire emails, and log all data in Microsoft Excel From 5:00pm-5:30pm I send out all zoom links for meetings for the next day, reply to any emails I missed throughout the day

    I worked at a mid size tech company about 8 years ago, the CEO fired the whole HR department in one go, he just decided it was completely unnecessary. He kept a handful of people to run payroll in finance etc, basically important stuff like that. It was the best place I ever worked, nothing changed just everyone was happier without all the unnecessary BS, forced ‘fun’, stupid posters and all company emails that everyone ignored.

    Im sorry for my words of course. But one of the most stupid professional is HR Specialist. I'm Java Spring Boot developer I know my job every well but because of out of minded questions it's already 5 time that I couldn't get job. I remember when I was my 3-rd interview HR Asked me how many gas stationa are there in USA. I cannot understand the main meaning of this empty quesrton since now. Im so sorry but I strongly hate HR Specialists and consider it useless profession in this world. Sorry once again

  • @HRGirl411

    @HRGirl411

    I don't think it's an HR Specialist thing. I honestly believe companies are struggling with creativity. They don't know how to properly screen candidates so they come up with bogus questions that do not amount to a hill of beans. I would only blame the process, not the person because unfortunately the ones who are new to the profession are relying on the decision makers, who are really disconnected from reality.
