What Does Focusing on Yourself Even Mean - How Do you Focus on Yourself. The Ultimate Guide to Self-Care for Men: Expert Advice from a Divorce Coach - The ReneSance Man: As a seasoned divorce coach, I share valuable insights and practical advice on practicing self-care for men who are going through a divorce or recently became single. I address a common misconception that self-care for men is limited to private activities, emphasizing that it encompasses much more.
The video starts by highlighting the importance of prioritizing oneself, as many men tend to neglect their own well-being while focusing on their ex-partners. Sadly, women are often more adept at self-care and encourages men to learn from their example.
Self-care is presented as a comprehensive approach that includes mental, physical, and social aspects. I emphasize that these three dimensions are interconnected and vital for overall well-being, using the analogy of a stool with three legs.
The mental aspect is highlighted as the most overlooked aspect of self-care. The coach discusses the emotional turmoil experienced during a breakup and the toll it takes on mental health. Seeking professional help, such as counseling or medical advice, is strongly recommended. The coach emphasizes the prevalence of depression among divorced men and underscores the importance of seeking appropriate treatment.
Engaging in enjoyable activities is encouraged as a means of self-care, particularly during the initial stages of a breakup. The coach suggests pursuing hobbies or interests that bring fulfillment and distraction from negative thoughts.
Mindfulness is introduced as a powerful tool for self-care. The coach acknowledges that mastering mindfulness takes time and effort but emphasizes its transformative potential. The concept is explained as being present in the moment, avoiding dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. The coach shares personal experiences with mindfulness and encourages viewers to develop the skill.
The video concludes with an introduction to focused attention meditation as a means of cultivating mindfulness. The coach explains the process of meditation and how it can lead to increased focus and self-awareness. The coach humorously shares a surprising personal experience of getting sexually aroused during consistent meditation practice, indicating that such experiences are normal.
Through this informative and engaging video, viewers gain a deeper understanding of self-care and learn practical strategies to navigate the challenges of divorce or being newly single. The coach's insights provide valuable guidance for men seeking to prioritize their well-being and thrive after a breakup.

“We destroyed our social circle when we were married!!!” So true!!

Rene.. so true when I met my wife, I don’t think she had any friends that were close to her most were out of town. So at the time I was working out the gym and something I started doing on my own and I was running with a few guys. I had met on the track. They invited me to run with them so I started running regularly. This was during my marriage. So I invited her to run with us because there was another lady who ran and I thought it would help her have a friend. she never really stuck with the running so being the blind kind of man that I was, I gave up my gym membership in order to take care of her and the kids once life became very busy. And you’re absolutely right. Her circle grew and my social Circle got smaller… eventually I had very few friends that I talk to other than at work because I was busy being the “family guy following my wife and kids in the grocery store”… nowadays when I see that I shake my head and say wake up guys as I am shopping for my own groceries. Well, back to the story everything you’re saying is absolutely right. We destroy our social circles trying to build our family and then whenever divorce comes, we have nothing around us for support. It’s interesting how many women shelter houses there are, but there are no men’s shelter where men can receive help and protection ! Isn’t that so interesting how the courts is so one-sided against the man, but favors a woman. Thankfully, I did some of the things that you mentioned in your previous video about self-care, getting out and dating and focusing on being relying on myself to pay the bills, pay the groceries and take care of the house . And you know why it works everything you’re saying on here works ! Working out, staying in shape, going out and dating changing your wardrobe, all those things were to give you a better self image, and boost is your confidence. Keep up the good work. For a long time I wanted to create a video like this for men because I saw the void in men’s support groups that did not exist when I went through my own divorce that was really no one there for me, but some family, which was few and one or two guy friends who really could understand . Luckily I had a good friend who saw me through a lot of the process. In fact, he went to court with me as a support in my corner. Lastly, another things I would like for you to address is how the church can turn against the man in favor of the woman always assuming that it’s the man who’s at fault and abusive. I think our culture is slowly changing this mentality. I did end up with custody of my two daughters for seven days a week every other week, which is becoming somewhat normal now with most marriage divorces. Thank you for reaching out to men, because your right divorce is very hard on us, and we are left with the void of we’ve gave our best years of our life to a woman who did not appreciate us .! Thank you for being a wonderful coach online to other men.! Thankfully everything I did to help myself. Please excuse any typographical errors as I’m going through a medical situation at this point.

Thanks brother. One clip that didn't make the cut because it came across rude was "No, absolutely not and multiply it by zero."

Yo!!!, No lie, I study his technique. when I get an idea, I write it in my "Notes" on my phone, just dictate it. My inner circle knows that when I watch a program or something and I pause it, they know what I'm doing. David, I'm going to challenge you, challenge you to say what you think in as little words as possible. Whatever you feel, know that others feel it also. We're not that different, some are just more afraid to say it than others. The that guy. Thank you for your response.

Terrific. Do you know the strict definition of what apologetics is? I try to use as little apologetics as possible when I speak. It's basically explaining yourself.

Your point about self care is on point but also 100% subjective. Women by no means are better than men and vice versa concerning self care. Hitting the gym makes sense for guys based on how we're built. Sure, not the be all end all, but as you've said physical exercise does wonders for mental health. However the gym should be part of the solution, not THE solution. Mindfulness is part of the work and in a relationship both people need to do this. But if one or the other checks out you can't get pulled down by the mental/emotional undertow.
