I feel obligated to share my experiences. Optometry was good to me and my family during my working years; however, those days are gone. I fear that idealistic graduates are walking out of schools ill-prepared for the reality of the employment/private practices. I have a son who is a commercial airline pilot. He earns, in salary/benefits/ about twice what an optometrist makes. He had to work his way from small commuter airlines but at least he was not going to school and incurring mounting debt. Never discount the value of " employee benefit packages"... typically optometrist are not offered benefit packages... buying single person health care is very costly. I regret sounding like Negative Nancy, but I think perspective students must realize they are being fed a picture of a world that does not exist outside of academia.

Currently taking O chem. It’s not too bad. It’s just lots of memorization and lots of practice problems if you want to get an A. As for physics, go to class, study daily, do practice problems, get a tutor, and find a study group. You should do good if you take the steps needed.

It looks like a lot of people did not know that even the wrong eye drops given for the wrong eye condition even pink eye can lead to blindness which may not be the optometrist fault as they are not only a doctor of eyeglasses because they do not perform eye surgeries like opthalmologist since people are so specific, most should at least know the theories of angles of reflection and refraction according to Sir Isaac Newton in middle and high school for those who did not even graduate high school and assume equally intelligent with at least some eye doctors!

I am an Optometrist. On the contrary of your view towards people not taking good care of their eyes, I love hearing my recurring clients complains of their eyes often because more money can be made. In fact, I would intentionally prescript my clients with slight deviations which is enough for them to come back to make another pair of glasses within 2 - 3 months. I do this at least 3 times yearly for every client. Additionally, I would always find fault in them for not taking good care of their eyes while encouraging them to upgrade their lens quality (honestly, it is redundant and expensive), giving them a perceived assurance of their eyes being well protected. MONEY, MONEY, MONEY, IT MUST BE FUNNY. IT IS THE RICH MAN'S WORLD.
