    Great summary. I’m looking to get back in and that was a great refresher. A business degree in information systems is a nice fit but also a diverse business degree such as international business accompanied by disciplined experiences in consulting or audit to give you experiences with frameworks. You can be an introvert as long as you are excited and have passion. Not the kind of job you can isolate yourself even if you are a one person team. If you are introvert, you will rely more in understanding BA approached and use it as a checklist/plan. No matter what though, you have to have knowledge, at least at the high level of IT frameworks and how solutions are implemented. Unavoidable and integral.

    You should be using data to drive decisions and solutions. That data can come from many different sources including interviews, observations, surveys, website analytics, etc. Business analysis comes in to play when tying back the original requirements to a business requirement. What is the ROI, what value does the functionality provide, what artefacts/training is required to support the functionality that is being developed? These are just some things to consider when tying UX principles in with business analysis.

    As an introverted person, does it mean that you can't become a business analyst, or it's just a misconception?

    Nope, just find your preferred approaches to preparation, reassurance, and quiet focus to get your best results. Being reflective is great for listening to what you are being told, and scanning for logical flaws or opportunities for improvement.

    Being an introvert or extrovert, it doesn’t matter because all jobs require some level of good communication and in this case you would be relying on your work and analysis but also making sure you’re able to communicate the work effectively to the stockholders and other people.

    I’m an introvert and a business analyst, and I’ve grown my presentation and reporting skills through on the job experience, and through training. I realized that I need to learn how to code switch to fit in, so I started practicing mimicking business characters from movies. I realized that I needed to learn how to report findings and summarize updates to my bosses, so I took a training course. I realized that I needed to learn how to BS and network with people, so I forced myself to go to stupid happy hours and work lunches. It’s annoying, draining, and can cause anxiety but I found ways to manage, and it’s great working remotely 3 days a week.

    These Gurus never tell the real thing they just talk about general stuff. In the real world the biggest problem with BA job is that you have many roles and it gets hard to select one of those because your available search will be small then 1) BA-HR 2) BA-ERP 3) BA-CRM 4) BA-FINTECH 5) BA-ServiceNow So it’s not too many BA jobs it’s actually too many domains … when you search for a specific domain then jobs are limited … and that why it is super hard to get into BA jobs

    The whole concept of "leading without authority" means absolutely nothing outside of a start-up or small company. When you're working for an organization with 30,000+ employees, there has to be a formal regulatory body to enforce policies that enhance processes for streamlining efforts.

  • @Andyruuuu

    I disagree in large organizations you can be working with multiple teams, clients, and outside partners. People aren't waiting around for an authority to tell them what to do. They are collaborating on the solution together and a business analyst can lay down the foundation and steer the direction of the project.

  • @diinferi7485

    @diinferi7485

    @@Andyruuuu I disagree. BAs operate off of the direction and requirements that they get from the customer and their leadership (the regulatory body I mentioned). They are relays back and forth between the customer and the functional team with the support of the people above them (the regulatory body) to ensure that the capture is appropriate, fulfills the requirements of the customer, is approved based on funding, and is in-scope of the mission of the organization. The regulatory body above the BAs (program manager, enterprise architect, lead systems/software engineers/devs, etc.) assist in the approval of the requirements being built and ultimately have the final say when it comes to SME level building. So, there will be some waiting around depending on who you’re supporting, what you’re authorized to support, reviews on the requirements that you’re capturing and relaying between the customer and the functional team, etc.
