Even being a progressive Protestant, I completely agree with the RC Church’s stance on abortion. Abortion is murder.

There is a reason the Blessed Mother identified herself as the Immaculate Conception at Lourdes. God's plan for every live, although as old as eternity, begins its presence in this world at conception.

I believe a majority of people that think abortion should be legal would never want that for themselves. When a woman panics over the fact that she's pregnant she needs support and comfort. Not a doctor sucking the child out her womb or dismember it with forceps. Love your neighbor as yourself.

James was the son of Clopas and Mary (of Clopas). Clopas the brother of Saint Joseph. Which is also why Mary (of clopas) is identified in the Bible has the sister of Mary (mother of Jesus). Each of these connections and relationships are visible in the Bible.

Wait, I'm confused. WHY is this priest publicly naming the girlfriend of his youth, in the context of a story in which she comes off TERRIBLY? This is televised and on the internet. Seriously: what value does it add to this story, that the world knows the name of this man's girlfriend who advocated killing babies, and (seemingly) intended to engage in pre-marital sex in college? And it sounds like he REGULARLY talks about this woman, by name, such that his entire congregation can shout back her name?

Obviously, we can all agree that she was 'wrong' -- but it's the sin of detraction to NAME her while listing things she did wrong, in a context where it's utterly unnecessary to achieve the intended good (teaching about a principle). A charitable and virtuous way of telling this story would have totally anonymized it. Unless the name he gives his congregation IS an anonymized pseudonym, which is the only way his action here wasn't super ugly.
