This is antiwar protest song and very audacious mockery of Vladimir Putin that is called "little vile psychopath" and all brutal dictators that are thinking whole world is their toy to play. "Mama ŠČ" is reference to Russia since this country has been regarded as the "mother" by Russians, and ŠČ is letter from the Russian alphabet. "Tractor" in this song is direct alusion to the Belarus Presudent Lukašenko's actual birthday gift to Putin! So this should be understood as "Mama bought tractor" = Russia has put control over Belarus, then "Mama loved moron" = Russia loved Putin - "little vile psychopath"... Let 3 is very experimental art punk band from Croatia that is active for 30 years and it is known for their provocative but inteligent texts and performances, they're also making theatre performances... Their dresses at the stage are representation of styled military uniforms in combination with drag queen outfit under (provocation to Putin that doesn't like LGBQT people). At the end fake moustaches are their standard outfit while bold man has inscribed ad his forehead "NJINLE" (NJIN + LE = LENJIN), another reference to the Russia, and rockets are reporesentation of constant Russian threatening with usage of nukes! Greetings from Croatia!

I love Balkan 80s rock, so Let3 was right up my alley, but after learning the backstory and meaning of the protest performance and all the layered metaphors and references against war and insane dictators, it's become even more of a favorite. I also completely agree, Croatia keeps getting done dirty. It is frustrating seeing so many complain about the Balkans doing things their way and not presenting itself with an international sound, only to then complain when they withdraw because no one is voting for them, because they complain "well no one understands it." I also really hate when people say songs are "just noise", whenever they personally don't like or understand something. I always will view Eurovision as a cultural exchange, of languages, native instruments and harmonisations, regional languages ((Terra (Galician), Fulenn (Breton)) and dance, cultural traditions, singing styles like white noise (Tulia), chanting (Blanca), etc. What's the point if non-English artists are not respected or have to water down their genre. I sometimes really wish I could vote... because I want to hear songs with important social commentaries, and want to hear your language and folkore, and want more than love songs and slayyyy bops. It worries me that the Balkans are slowly leaving, yet I'm over here loving their entries' the most. Lastly, loosely related, I am so happy people liked Go_A, and I hope they never drift from Ukrainian folk.

Croatia is not the Balkans and it will never be, Croatia is a Mediterranean country, study the geography. The term Croatia as a country in the Balkans originates from the Greater Serbian idea of conquering the Croatian territory, and therefore this term is implemented by the ruling party and, to a large extent, by the media. Croatia is a Central European, Mediterranean country, always has been and always will be. It is a painful fact that many do not want to admit today.

I can imagine, that the chaotic part in the song represents armageddon itself. In the case of nuclear war, everything is destroyed in a few seconds. All of it. People, as well as all kind of art. In their performance, it is demonstrated with a mix of very different music styles accentuated with a Croatian alphabet and visualized through the fast rotation of very different pictures. Strong message!

It is an anti-war opera, it was not written for Eurovision. It is the work of music experts who criticize the state of the world through their songs. they write songs for musicals and movies. It has a deep message. The grotesque scenography imitates propaganda and the costume design imitates dictatorial homophobia. Mama šč refers to Mother Russia. The rest is pretty clear. chaos in music, because war is chaos. ШЧ

it is an anti war song. It practically calls anyone wanting a war - a moron and a psychopath. . The staging, visuals are showing the absurdity of such people. Also, The music in the beggining it reminds of a military march and later on it is like a chaos - like every war is actually a chaos - so it is reflected in the music also. This song actually calls for peace and shows the absurdity of war and dictators (people can say it's about Putin, but I find it relatable to any war or any dictator in anytime and any place in this world).

Every masterpiece has a much deeper meaning. This is not a song for every ear or every mind. At first glance it looks stupid, but everything, everything has a hidden meaning: the singer's clothes symbolize a general whose clothes and conscience are stained with the blood of the victims; a singer in a black mantle-a church that supports the war, that's why he has 2 rockets in his hands. The sound and text are reminiscent of a children's song - the dictator is like a child who perceives the world as his toy and says to his mother (Russia or any other country): Mom, I'm going to war! Then the children's song ends and war chaos ensues. Because war spares no one. Neither the dictator, nor his people, nor those who defend themselves. Krokodil in Russia is the name for a type of drug that destroys the mind. That's why every dictator is a crocodile psychopath. etc...etc...That's just a small part of the explanation. It's hard to explain everything. For example, why does the general (singer) take off his clothes at the end? When he takes off his clothes, you can see his nakedness, he has nothing but his uniform, he is empty. But it also shows that he is only human too. As they say in Croatia: He is also bloody under the skin. That means - he is vulnerable. And he will end up like any dictator.

This was shocking experience at first sight, especially having in mind usual expectation of Eurovision Song Contest - at least what it meant in the past. But recently, for a decade or two in fact, we are witnesses of an obvious decay of all parameters, especially the musical ones, so it has turned into a kitchy show where melody and music is not a merit any more, but glittering costumes and political messages are bates for sensation-hungry audience. At first, my impression was that with this tune of Let 3 ESC is going to get what it already deserves for long time, after years of unsuccessful washed out boring and noninspired crap Croatia was sending there. Now we offered a spectacle, anti-war multilayered show full of symbolism, historical alusions, hidden massages and conquering simplicity of musical material that sticks to your brain almost instantly. Painfully simple melody irresistably attack listener's memory and he can hardly get rid of it soon. Notice also a sort of criticism of ESC presented in glamfashioned extravagance, pointing out how a festival of fine pop songs once gradually escalated to tasteless visual show that has no ambition to offer a pleasure for one's ears any more.

@@pessimusdux Antiwar satiric trolling of current war situation - well - if they really wanted to do that they would pinpointed the USA and NATOs role in this. The proxywar. The lame mocking of one participant in the conflict is just propaganda. And they should be disqualified.

@@inga0201 yep - and 1944 should have been disqualified. Last year Belarus was disqualified - they tried to enter with two political songs. Earlier Georgia withdrew as EBU refused a song with the text We dont want put-in. Verka Serduchka had to change the text from Russia goodbye to Lasha Tumbai. So if EBU follow their own rules Croatias song will be disqualified. EBU rules; "2.7.1 NON-POLITICAL EVENT The ESC is a non-political event. All Participating Broadcasters, including the Host Broadcaster, shall be responsible to ensure that all necessary measures are undertaken within in their respective Delegations and teams to safeguard the interests and the integrity of the ESC and to make sure that the ESC shall in no case be politicised and/or instrumentalized and/or otherwise brought into disrepute in any way."

The comparison that LET 3 are for Putin or against... is the same as the comparison of whether they think that BORAT (Sacha Baron Cohen) makes the country of Kazakhstan laugh... or makes people who think that Kazakhstan is really like that laugh.
