I visited Taiwan a couple years ago for only two weeks and looooved the people there. An old man once stopped me in a park around noon. I was a bit scared as it would not be normal where I live. After a bit I understood he was trying to tell me that the sun was rough that day and I needed to be careful with my pale skin and maybe wear a hat or use an umbrella. He was just super kind. Taiwan is full of wonderful people like that.

Taiwanese people are among the friendliest people I have met in all my travels around the world. Unfortunately, very few of them speak a minimum of English, which makes it virtually impossible to make friends there, but if you encounter a local who speaks English you will see how nice these people are. I just hope China doesn't decide to destroy this thriving democracy and impose their authoritarian ways on their inhabitants.

The Taiwanese girl is well-spoken and gorgeous. I believe I hear heartbreak in her voice when she compares foreign men to birds that land, then fly away. This interviewer is a really good investigative journalist. He gets the Taiwanese girl to open up with her thoughts and experiences.

I've been to Taiwan countless times and the people I've met there were all courteous towards me. I support Taiwan!

Taiwan is so precious. it's way of life took decades of hard work. The entire world should embrace Taiwan. Once it's lost, you will not find another place like it.

One of my physical chemistry professors was from Taiwan and he and his wife had us students over their house once a month for dinner and conversation. They were fantastic friendly people and we still keep in touch. Lots of respect for Taiwanese from my experience with he and his wife. This smiling lady in the video is a good example of their warm personality. Hope to visit there some day.

Thanks, great talk and very effervescent and lovely Taiwan lady. First time I came to Taiwan was 1988 for half year. Now I have lived here for 8 years. I am a Science, English and Chinese Linguistics grad. I work in an engineering company as translator and do some management duties. I have taught English around the world, and still do some at nights and weekends - I like the personal contact and I want to support Taiwan as the independent country that it is. I could say quite a lot, but one point is I have not come across anyone that wants to use English with me. I actually get quite a lot of " Well your Mandarin is good, but what about your Taiwanese 台語？" Actually I know some phrases but that's about it. I learned Cantonese in Hong Kong much faster.

Move to Taiwan and be completely a taiwanese sounds ok for me and I like but lose completely your cultural identity from where you come from idk if is as good.. I like the mixes, because make more rich a culture so even when I move to tw and live my whole life there with the girl I love I still would't want to lose that part of me or must to hide it. Hi I’m a Taiwanese ,in my opinion I think the girl’s advice doesnt mean foreigners should abandon all their culture ,habits or customs .Instead of that ,I think what she wanted to tell the foreigners is that ,maybe most (western)foreigners are used to the way of how they treat people (such as giving kisses in cheaks ,giving tips ,expressing negative feelings in a more direct way ,etc.)there’s no absolute right or wrong,but maybe some of the Taiwanese will misunderstood these acts and might feel weird in the first time ,so the girl said that foreigners should try to adapt the lifestyle and the way how people treat each other in Taiwan ,so that they can trust you more when first meeting you . btw,different cultures are so welcomed in my country ,lots of people are interested in learning foreign customs and knowledges,so feel free & chill to visit Taiwan,big welcome ❤

I think Taiwanese English’s pronounce are better than Korean , and also some Japanese .

Ehhh, you can do basically everything in Taipei without Mandarin, and you can do most things in Kaohsiung, Taichung, etc with very, very limited Mandarin.

I think all girls want same the stuff as every other girl wants in any other country...same checklist. Hong Kong, Thailand, Philippines or Singapore where English is spoken widely are fantastic places for a single western guy to work in too. The nightlife and partying is great at Lan Kwai Fong in Hong Kong and at Clarke Quay or Orchard Road in Singapore. I would pick Hong Kong as the best place.

Its cheaper there but not anything extreme. Maybe a meal will cost 5 bucks at a restaurant that would cost 9 in the USA.

Mostly cheaper, with some caveats. Restaurants and nightmarkets are cheap, but grocery store prices are about the same if not a tad bit more than USA. Electronics, some are cheaper, some are higher, PC components mostly are cheaper, laptops and phones mostly more, actually. Rent varies wildly, generally cheaper than USA. A single room (usually no cooking allowed) and a private bathroom is about $180-300 local rate per month, in some districts/cities a two bedroom apartment is about $400-500, some $1000-2000. Outside of Taipei it's mostly cheaper, but you lose a lot of convenience. Where Taiwan really wins is in convenience but also that transportation and healthcare don't kill your budget like USA. Public transport is really developed, there's not really an obligation to get a car (though outside of Taipei it's not a bad idea if you're really settled...) subway fares are usually $.50-$1 each way. A half hour or so taxi ride is about 1000-1200NT, or $33-$42. Bus or trainfares to nearby cities is about $3-5 and everything's clean and top notch quality. Taiwan is very two wheel vehicle friendly, pedal or motorbike. If you're a legal permanent resident you get almost free health insurance ($15 a month) but even as a tourist it's not a bad idea to go to the doctor or get any medical stuff you need done. A hospital visit for me with a chest x-ray and labs was only $42 with no insurance. Most prescription medicines besides narcotics/stimulants/etc are OTC and reasonably priced (antibiotic eyedrops that are $200 in USA are $3 there...) I could go on longer, it's cheaper, but on a foreigner salary (or if you come on vacation with a few grand to burn over time) you'll never be a "rock star" like in poorer countries in SEA, where you'll make $2000-3000 when local wage is $120. Min wage in TW full time is about $800ish now, so your quality of life would be like making 40-50K a year in the States but with your taxes actually being used for something productive.

A few things are more expensive (like beef and dairy products, and weirdly enough fresh produce in the big city, at least in grocery stores), a few things are the same (like internationally traded goods such as electronics), and most stuff is cheaper. Rent is a LOT cheaper, I got a luxury apartment with all utilities paid in one of the more expensive areas of the most expensive city for like $650/mo back in 2017-2018. Eating out is also dramatically cheaper. Despite beef being several times more expensive than the US, a good steak dinner can be had in Taiwan for about the same price or a bit less than the US. Everything else is much cheaper. You can get a pretty good meal for $5 if you go to the right places and adjust to local tastes. Another thing I noticed is that random small household items tended to be cheaper there, too. Like you might expect a dog food bowl to be, I don't know, $10-20 in a big box retailer in America, but in Taiwan it would be $2-5. Just small stuff like that tends to be cheaper. Same thing with clothes. You can get decent quality women's shoes in a 3-for-$10 deal. Not amazing stuff, but well-made enough to last several years of light use. Also healthcare in Taiwan is absurdly cheap. They have an amazing healthcare system in terms of both cost and quality. Their doctors are very well-educated, to very high standards, and work very hard to take care of you. The big caveat is that Taiwanese wages are quite low. If you already have money, IMO, there is not a better place to live, assuming you enjoy the city life. But working there is not as clear cut a choice. I could make probably $40k USD in Taiwan, but living in America I can save $80k/year.

Some are, some aren't. Overall, Taiwanese men just aren't as masculine or outgoing as Western men, so the competition just isn't as strong for women who like that kind of thing.
