If you haven't read The Infinite and the Divine yet I highly recommend. At times hilarious, as it takes place over a 50,000 year feud between two very different Necron Nobles (Trahzyn the Infinite and Orikan the Diviner) its also a very cool insight into Necron politics and mindset. The Necrons are rapidly becoming my new favorite as well.

I find it funny that we know less about the current silent king and his dynasty than practically any other in the current setting. He was the only one that we know was awake for those 60 million years the entire time though he may have had significant time dilation effects, but even at the speed of light he would have been receiving data from the surrounding galaxies or he was using inertialess drive the entire time and went much much further and without time dilation, if it cancels inertia it cancels the time dilation, though they have that in their stasis technology. I really think he possibly has all the answers to everything in Warhammer lore basically. He has possibly encountered beings that are even greater than the C'tan or the Old Ones, encountered technology that surpasses even them at their peak. There is almost too much story potential there honestly. Though he no longer controls the Necrons, he is said to be so resplendent and irresistible in glory that you cannot possibly say no to him, supposedly if you are a necron or not. I think he got some upgrades out in the void after all this time. Maybe he has a very powerful soul now, which was something he was searching for and maybe he even found a way to keep it in his necrodermis body. Maybe he doesn't even require a flesh or mechanical body now but merely uses it as an avatar. How many god emperors do you suppose exist in the entire universe and how many did he come across?

I've wonder this for a while about the Necrons, what is their end goal? What's the point of them ruling the galaxy? The only sentient ones are the Phaerons and a couple of governor lords, the average unit soldier are mindless at this point, the point of an Empire its their people and they no longer have that. At least with the Tyrannids their hunger drives them, Necrons just want to conquer but with what end? The old ones are long gone so it can't be revenge either.

Maybe TSK has an answer for that, maybe he found a way to get them all back, even their souls. He has searched the entire universe to find an answer to the question of if that's even possible. We know even less about him than any other dynasty currently though. We know what he was but we have no idea what he became in those 60 million years and he was the only one that was conscious the entire time. His armies are op as hell though because they completely wiped out several Tyranid hive invasions and just left without a trace. Not exactly a small feat by any standards. I also heard somewhere that a space marine is the perfect vessel for the Necron consciousness and they have souls to boot, so maybe they found a way to bind any consciousness to any soul, technically it's their consciousness that is gone but the raw data is still there. I feel like they are going to merge humanity and Necron into one race someday and there is lots of lore to back this idea up actually. Number one being that we probably owe the entire dark age of technology to the Necrons that shot a fragment of the C'tan void dragon at the solar system which now resides on Mars, which has been slowly feeding them Necron technology for thousands of years. Mankind and the Necrons are intertwined in ways we can't even fathom at this point. Maybe it was the Necrons that created humanity and not the old ones, we do resemble them more than the old ones. The tao also have that look of a distant cousin so who knows, we could be the intended remnants of an experiment started 60 million years ago. They still had their own DNA after all, they had a myriad of bodies from their Necrontier descendants to choose from and maybe The Silent King dropped off samples on his way out of the galaxy. I get carried away but I like the speculation about this franchise.

They don't want to conquer, they want back what is theirs, also, Silent K (and all those who are still somewhat able to think) are trying to reverse the curse... They need shells, bodies. You also got those necrons who believe it's a gift though.. And by that logic, we could ask the same question about the other factions, what is their end-goal? Not really known except for Orks.

I agree with nim, they don't see it as conquest but reclamation of their territory. Mostly necrons want to somehow reclaim their souls in a reversing of the bio transference, or at least those capable of having wants.

Yes, given to them by a dying ctan as a curse. Unlike the blood angels, flayed ones seem to have a social structure, plans of when n where to attack, and don’t attack fellow necrons seeing them as kin. The blood angels of the black rage are just so far gone and will kill every ally they see if they are in the way of their “Horus” they see while fighting

I get it bro. One day we’ll correct the record. You can even help, if you want. Those who hold such subversive ideas… we won’t have to suffer their existence much longer, in the grand scheme of things. Head high!
