Getting more done than me. No seed in ground here. Bunch of ground ready but trying to get hay done in between rains and breakdowns

It would be interesting to see what the actual population of that field ends up at. My corn planter typically plants about 3000 seeds/ acre higher than what my book says it’d be at.

Other years when I check it is pretty close. It's probably just in my head but it seemed to be taking more than I figured.

Nowadays most guys just push a couple buttons on a screen to set things. I try to show how the older equipment works. I just hope it makes sense when I say it as it does in my head. 😂😂

@@Mad_Farmer912 we've had a 7000 for 8 years now and I never knew they made two different styles of sprockets. Either way it's a big step up from the 1240 it replaced. I hope your crop does well. I'm interested in seeing how the open pollinated and non GMO corn does

Nice to see you get some seed in the ground. What do you plan on using to control the weeds??

I don't know what the current generic name its called but the equivalent of Bicep, a mix of Atrazine and Dual. If I come across one somewhere I'd like to get a cultivator and do a follow up with that.

Good year Dyna torq long bar short bar tires the side walls will crack really bad long before the tire is half wore off. Have had them tire on 2 different tractors, fairy good traction but don't last

The Ford came with them originally and I took them off in less than 1000 hours, they were useless. I won't ever put long/short bars on anything again. Currently I'm on my second set of Firestone 23° radials. They've averaged about 5000 hours each. This tire, the tire guy has is a long bar. He's hinting more to the Goodyear because he's seen sidewall cracking problems more with the alliance tires. The alliance sidewall did seem to have more flex like it wasn't as reinforced as much.

@@Mad_Farmer912 that style of good year your talking about might be ok, never ran any gy after them other ones fell apart except on trucks! I've never had any alliance tires crack at all ( yet) and I have them on a few, but titan tires I've had them crack bad not as bad and quick as gy the titans you could get most of the tread wore down before you started having problems with them splitting apart!

@@bryanginder5903 the only GY tires I've run were th DT 710 that were on my IH when I got it. They're the short/short tread that look like 4 wheeler tires. They were decent but were more suited for hay crops like a turf tire. This GY tire is older but I don't see any weather checking and the tread matches the good Firestone tread depth closer and tread design closer.

@@Mad_Farmer912 I'd say go with that tire give it a try! I know that goofy tire tread your talking about, don't see much of them any more out here, they were supposed to be good wear for on road travel

@@bryanginder5903 people wonder why farmers keep junk around. I took those DT off the IH because they were 34s and got step up rims to put 38s on it with Firestone bias tires. After the wore out I bought the Harvest Kings that were new I have on it now off a neighbor who decided to do something different and wanted to sell them. At some point I sold the DT to him for his Ford 5000 for the same reason I'm looking for a used tire, don't want to spend the money on a new one. If I kept them then I would already have a spare to get by. It's only junk till you need it. 🤣🤣
