Ahhhh shooot I’m excited!!!! New drop alert!!!
Got my Dayzee DAC today! OMG is it amazing! Had an AKM J2 in my system and thought it sounded amazing. The Dayzee blows it away. The bass control is like I have never experienced. The separation and detail off the charts. I hooked it up and planned on just demoing a couple songs ended up spending almost 2 hours listening! Could not stop. Things the real deal. And I just got the standard unit no upgrades. I honestly do see how it could be any better! One happy customer.

I too heard it today...and just the standard TI's were very impressive. The dual mono design is going to give it that much more resolution if your system can resolve it.
The Geshelli Dayzee with the big Sparkos SS2590 units is definitely *superb*! I listened to it with the stock TI OPA1655 for several months, using a 12V 50W linear power supply. With the stock op-amps all the qualities I mention below, are there - but upgrading them extends/expands all of these to what I consider to be ultimate. So many passages of music that I used to think were congested and overdriven - are sounding open and clear. Many recordings have 3D space and instruments - many sound almost like "new" music to me. Harmonies and counterpoint and discord and really subtle details - all come through - and I have to totally re-adjust my perception of the music. Bass is simply just right. The extension and weight and clarity is flawless, for all intents and purposes. Soundstage on good recordings is YUGE, and many are 3D - even some that I would never have thought had this quality. Clarity - is far more than "just" extended treble. It is a coherent whole - and it covers the entire spectrum, ideally. In my opinion, the Dayzee is balanced and neutral and also dynamic and clean. Nothing is out of place - and everything is in place. I have had all the Geshelli DACs that have AKM chips (except the very first JNOG), and they are all wonderful. For me the J2S with the AKM 4493 is the perfect entry point. I have not been able to listen to any of the Burson op-amps, but I did listen to about 7 or 8, and for me the Sparkos are my preference.

When you stated that "So many passages of music that I used to think were congested and overdriven", was that in regards to the TI op-amps in the Dayzee? And then it opened up after installing the Sparkos?
@NeilBlanchard
11 күн бұрын
@@michaelwright1602 This is something the stock Dayzee does very well - and then after upgrading, it is *extremely* good at doing. Clarity and the ability to "untangle" dense /complex music - are a hallmark of the Dayzee, with both the stock TI OPA1655 op-amps; and to an even greater degree with the Sparkos SS2590 op-amps.

I graduated last year from J2 AK4493 to J2S with 4499EX and the big Sparkos SS2590s (with minor trickery to make them fit). Have Burson V7V also. IMO, unless one is forced to eat nothing but ramen noodles for the next 6 months, I would skip the cheaper options for J2S and Burson V7V or J3 PRO with SS2590s. Good luck finding anything better sounding for under $1k+ USD.

Hi Brian! Hope you have a great weekend and thank you!!! I will tell them all as well!
Nice to see the different offerings. That Dayzee is something, but well out of my range and would not fit in my rack anyway. I'm about 85% analog and 15% digital if you count CDs. I do stream, but only for occasional background noise and research, I can't stand formally listening to it. For formal listening I go with vinyl records or CD. That said, I have never had an outboard DAC, I just have the one in the CD player or the one in my preamp. I think the dac in my current CD player (Marantz ND8006) is likely alright or good enough, I'm not sure. The dac in my preamp though sounds slightly harsher and thin. One would think that is not the case given the cost, but the focus in design was really on the analog side and overall circuitry, which a good job was done there (partly why I bought it). The dac and headphone amp were afterthoughts in my opinion. (The headphone amp is pretty poor, so I got an outboard and solved that issue). Anyway, I am curious about getting an outboard DAC to see IF there is any notable improvement to my system's sound for CDs and other digital stuff. I have been told there will be by many, but who knows since we all have different listening experiences. I know nothing about DACs beyond the very basics. I know I am tired of ESS as that is all I have ever experienced in all the CD players and such I have owned. I'm looking for a more natural sound. An R2R DAC would have a more natural sound, but they are expensive and not many on market. I know nothing about op amps or the differences between them or between DAC chips. I believe there are no differences between DAC chip brands, but the differences are in implementation of them. I may be wrong or perhaps partly correct. My getting an outboard DAC is pretty low on my list, but if I could try one I would choose Geshelli Labs indeed as I have been looking at your DACs for the last almost two years and when the time comes, I would need to talk to someone for some education (what op amps do and the differences, etc.) in order to select the DAC I want to try. I also can't get spendy so I would look at the J2 or J2S. I would also need to arrange something in case it does nothing, like cables. Again, it will be a little while though as it is not high on my priority list to get an outboard DAC.
I'm really thinking about purchasing the Archel 3 Pro and this new J3 Pro. It seems like a good combination. These videos are super helpful. Is the Clear Plexi case option only available on the Dayzee?
@RachelGeshelli

I think you will need a revealing nearfield system to really hear a difference. Although I way be wrong, I think i prefer the cheap TI chips over the Sparkos...I think?
Is it possible to listen to the devices in Germany?
Honestly I think people sleep on the 1656s. I think they are 95% as good as any discrete op amps and kinda make you question if its even worth upgrading.

do all the dayzee's come with the flush metal front plate? is it possibly to get the same circular glass front plate as on the j2? that front style gives a wood border to the face plate.... cause with the metal plate....you cant see the wood from directly in front. the all metal faceplate is a bit of a divergence from your earlier design language....if the dayzee was huge and looked like a j2 or with the buttons n stuff...id be sold.

Is swapping out op amps similar to tube rolling? What are the differences in the sound between the different op amps?
@RachelGeshelli
14 күн бұрын
The difference in sound is going to be based off your listening experience so what I hear may be different then what you hear! Randy’s J2 4499 review went over what he heard differently with the sparkos I believe! But it is all relative to your ears!
any chance of getting the DAYZEE with I2S HDMI input?
@scottmuhlbaier1945
7 күн бұрын
I specifically talked to Geno about this IP today when I noticed the same thing and he basically stated that the fact that there's no standards shied them away from adopting this (to this point). It's also much more complicated to get the timing right. They specifically work hard on the USB input to make sure it would sound as good as the i2s.
Would I need to go through the web site to get pricing info? Would like to know how much I need to save up for a Dayzee.

Sparkos 2590 dual
Why is the DAYZEE so huge?
@scottmuhlbaier1945
7 күн бұрын
As Rachel said it's a completely different beast. It has basically two DACs inside with the mono design (unlike the rest it has dual AKM 4499/4191 chips). Also it has dual outputs for both RCA and XLR balanced. All that needs significantly more space for the connectors & to let the components breathe... but also it's larger size allows for some of the nicest woodworking designs I've seen on an audio component. That's why it's not very heavily advertised and you basically you have to inquire about it for the details. It also takes them hours and hours to meticulously make... so they only allow US orders at this time so they don't get overloaded. I heard it today and it sounds fantastic with just the stock TI op-amps.
OP amps? Personally if it has OP amps it doesn't sound musical, especially when listening at home of an evening. DAC's without OP amps (good ones) are in another league.
