Reading all these comments had a two-sided emotional effect on me. On one hand I feel some sort of relief knowing I'm not the only one going through this. All those doctors I went to, saying everything was fine, all those tests that came back "OK", doctors saying I was just anxious and that's it. On the other hand, I feel terribly fatalist about this because it all seems to point to the fact that my condition won't get better in the short term. Maybe it never will. I'm 27, got covid March 2021, I never had to visit the hospital, never had a fever, barely had a cough, O2 saturation always above 95% and still... I have palpitations from the moment I wake up until I go to sleep and I can feel them on different parts of my body but mainly around chest, neck and head. My breathing feels weird all the time, like my lungs always keep asking for more air no matter how deep I breathe, I get tired so easily, everything I eat hits like a brick on my stomach, I can barely exercise anymore, my body experiences anxiety-related symptoms without being anxious at all, I feel dizzy sometimes for no reason, I have a lot of trouble focusing during work or studying, my memory isn't the same, I just don't feel the same. I'm not me anymore. Hopefully there will be a solution, even if just partial, to this in the future. I'm not optimistic. Thanks, Wuhan Institute of Virology.

@@rupertperiwinkle4477 Hi! No, I was not vaccinated then. Vaccines weren't available in my country at the time. I got two jabs of the Sinopharm vaccine on August 2021. No improvement on symptoms. This describes exactly my situation. I developed trouble sleeping roughly 2 months ago. Whenever I sleep I don't seem so get enough oxygen. The problem is that doctors don’t listen. When I visit my physician she just keeps telling me how healthy I am even before she’s done testing on me. I think it’s sort of a mind game on her part. If she tells me I’m healthy I’ll believe it and go home. But going to the grocery store requires a three hour nap due to the fatigue. It wasn’t like that before I had COVID.

I agree - millions have suffered ME/CFS from EBV (mononucleosis) and borreliosis ("chronic Lyme disease"). I remember when fibromyalgia was widely considered a phony disease/disorder. For what little we know about any of it, there is no reason to believe they are separate mechanisms. On the plus side, there has been a lot more research into the syndrome because of the sudden surge with COVID-19. It is one of the worst things that could happen to people who have developed the syndrome through COVID infection, but one of the best things that could happen to those who were already struggling with it when nobody cared. There was no light at the end of the tunnel for them, and now there is a glimmer. Help is on its way.

I’m still a 12 yr old kid and I’m still recovering from long covid. I have to walk with a stick, and I had to spend my 12th birthday alone. I got it in January and I’m fully vaccinated. My mom was concerned I might have gotten a multi system inflammatory disease that can be found with kids with Covid so I went to the hospital and they did a million tests and said I was ok. My blood pressure was high and it was a bad experience because I could barely walk down the stairs at the time. They gave me a round of fluids and sent me home. My mom is still worried for me so we’re taking the summer off to help me get stronger and it’s working so far. I walked 3 miles in nyc the other day! (I was tired afterward) but yeah. Not a lot of kids go through long covid but I’m glad that it was me over any of my friends. I’m still glad I was healthy and I was a dancer. I lost all my muscle tone and thought I would die. I still get very tired and after doing something big one day I need to have 1-2 rest days to recover. I definitely matured while having covid and I was facing big grief as well because my dad died around 5 months prior to having covid, and I had time to process my feelings instead of being distracted with school and dance and friends. Don’t recommend

That's when you are lucky. I know people that are still ill after more than 2 years after getting covid. But still after one and a half year I have some crazy symptoms like hearing my voice only in my left ear when I open my mouth, dizziness when moving my head, exercise intolerance, skipping heart beats, allergy to histamine, joint pain, low-grade fever, nerve damage, left hand numbness and many more.

Have you been tested for Bartonellosis? It's a another disease that can be transferred by ticks and new studies show that most people with "Long Lyme" have active Bartonellosis. Since both, Bartonella and Covid will lead to vessel inflammation, blood circulation problems, as well as neuro-psychiatric problems, as both diseases can pretty much infect the same cells, it's no surprise that symptoms are quite similar.

Got Covid in May 2022 after attending an indoor concert unmasked (don’t do this). I was fully vaxxed and STILL got a really bad case. It’s September and I still have symptoms but not as bad. I’m a hiker and two months post Covid went back to hiking. The first hike normally would have taken 5 hours….took 9 and I was in agony going down (back and hips). I stuck with it and I am about to do a 300 mile section of the AT despite still having mainly gastrointestinal and hip issues. I will be doing my PT on the trail and I’m sure digging more cat holes than normal. To all of you suffering…..continue to push yourselves HARD!!!!! It takes a LONG time!!!!!

It would seem to me that if the Vagus nervous system is exposed thru inflamation, there could be a big relief is the nervous system is regulated, i started having symptoms of fatigue where i could not excersice as i’ve always been active. I tried doing some upper body work and arm strength in my room to see what my body could handle, At first i felt as i was going to faint and began sweating nervously and feeling like my heart would not be able to continue. But since i’ve always been stuburn about giving up, i decided to play a positive health affirmation along excercising. Surprisingly i started lifting without that feeling of fatigue, nervousness and sweat, My thought is that our nervous system has been somehow hijacked and takes a strong mind to cross that barrier of Fear. I would advice always listen to your body, if you feel like you really can’t then build your strenght slowly until it feels better. Also recommend, Doing breath work, and meditation. It can’t hurt. I wish everyone the best.

This is so interesting to me. Partly because I had COVID twice. I still had long COVID from the 1st time when I got it again. But also because I've had something that feels very much like this for almost 30 years. I just found out yesterday that I carry the antibodies for Lyme disease, which I have suspected for many years. I think that COVID is one of a handful of infections that can cause ongoing illness even after the infection is gone. I am very eager to understand this better.

Some people do. I don't remember them tingling, but I do have some loss of feeling in my fingers and toes. If you think you have any chance of having Lyme disease I highly recommend getting tested immediately. If it's caught early it can still be treated with antibiotics pretty well. But the longer you go untreated the harder it is to cure. Actually, anything that is causing tingling in your feet should be checked out. A lot of things that cause that could be serious if left untreated. But I think most things that would cause that can be treated pretty well if caught soon.

The great hope is that the new focus on the apparently identical Long COVID syndrome will finally bring relief to those who have acquired ME/CFS through Lyme or EBV infection. The syndromes seem to be virtually identical. You now have a lot more comrades in beds. I believe the reason for foot dragging is that there was no glory to be had in taking on one of the most frustrating disorders that relatively few people suffered from. Now the disorder is still frustrating but could actually have serious consequences for economies around the world. There will still not be an ME/CFS march on Washington (sorry about that) but it can no longer be ignored. When we control the virus we will have to clean up our mess this time.

Fortunately, a majority (maybe only a bare majority) will recover completely. The tragedy is divided among those who die outright and those who are left functionally disabled for indefinite periods. After two years we still don't know much about the disease in terms of how it affects its victims. We can't predict who will be mildly ill for a week or two and return to their lives, which will be stomped into the ground in days, and which will struggle with debilitating fatigue (would be more accurately called Chronic Exhaustion Syndrome) or "brain fog." As I learned more about Long COVID I was struck by the prevalence of athletes, particularly marathoners, in the most severely affected by the lingering effects. We are still in the early days of dealing with this menace. Vaccination is a big plus in escaping the long term effects but even that is not 100%. It is just our best bet, aside from being dead serious about staying isolated.

The study skewed towards older men since that's the population of the military veterans. It's good they did the study, though, very useful. Another limitation is that a questionnaire was used asking people if they had and I would assume pick from a list of symptoms. A study is better when instead of asking patients they look at medical records of what doctors found.

Gez was running half marathons in training before he was infected, was infected in the first wave two years ago, and is still struggling with ME/CFS. In general, it appears better health going in is a risk factor for long term aftereffects. There is no viable theory why this should be so, but it is a striking indicator.

@@flagmichael I think it may be that some athletes or people with stronger immune systems end up with their immune system working against them - maybe left over traces of Covid remain in areas of the body hard to purge - like when Covid crosses the blood brain barrier - and the immune system starts attacking the body or creating huge inflammation to get rid of the left over traces - one concept for treatment is to knock the immune system off line. Kind of like using antihistamines or steroids to do so for allergies.

I'm really sorry to hear you're having such a rough go right now. Please make sure to speak with your medical team, you know, the people trained and educated in treating illnesses and diseases, before trying anything that random people on the Internet tell you will "cure you". I was desperate for relief as well, still am, but safety should ALWAYS be your priority. Make sure that you aren't allergic to things recommended to you, make sure you have clearance to start moving more and monitor your body etc. Rest when you need to and don't get into the mindset of pushing yourself constantly. Yes, going a little further each time is sometimes good, but your body has limits and they're not as easy to recover from as before (trust me, I've sent myself back into the hospital several times from this "crutch" mindset, you don't want to go through that) and it will push your recovery further back. Take your time on this. And know that sometimes, no matter how hard we try, how many things we try, how much we pray it want it, we may just be stuck living life differently than we planned and that's not a failing of ours it's just how things go sometimes. I'm now disabled and in the process of going for benefits, I can't even walk from my seat to the next room without fainting and have a whole bunch of other symptoms that are constant and debilitating. My therapist is helping me cope while I come to terms with this new reality.

My career path is that of a welder NOT a doctor, I was gonna write of my LC sob story but ill just put the understanding of stuff that just got me out of 2 years of misery. Once you understand the problem its then easy to fix, the problem is you don't know who/what to ask for therefore, we ask the wrong questions in the wrong places. Going to a doctor, asking for help is like asking a panel beater to overall your car engine since he works on cars all day. Doctors treat symptoms of sickness. Not sickness. You have to get an understanding of this first. The human bodies priority is its PH level NOT the oxygen content, it does this mainly by moving co2 ( breath)via the lungs which affects the PH in the blood stream aiming for a very narrow window of 7.3 + - . The kidneys also do this function but it takes them about 3 - 5 days to have an effect . They do this by removing acid/alkali from the blood stream( urine).there's other buffers as well but we'll leave them out for now. ANY sickness, hypoxia, altitude sickness, hyperbaric treatment and ANY endurance type training will generate ROS stress through the Krebs cycle. Basically if the Krebs cycle happens under hypoxic conditions then it spews out different acids compared to an oxygenated cycle. ( The difference between aerobic vs anabolic exercise) One of your bodies best defenses is to make glutathione to counter the ROS. IF, however it gets depleted via the immune response then it has NAD+ which it can use as well to block the ROS, ( when we are young and healthy). Its at this point that, ALL chronic illness starts, cause the cells start going mutant( inflammation, cancer etc.) . So in Covid which starts out as a respiratory infection, the ROS increases unchecked, inflaming the lungs and affecting the gas exchange meaning the co2 starts building up in the body. This increases the PH and its left to the liver which, makes bicarbonate to become the next balancer, the bicarbonate is filtered out by the kidneys except, they take days to fulfil that role! This is probably the time that the NAD+ starts getting depleted . The kidneys end up with an enormous ,unbeatable task to get the PH back to normal. The respiratory muscles will be working very hard at this point releasing lactic acid ( ROS) and potassium into the blood . The potassium is filtered out by the kidneys but, as the GFR is reduced(AKI) then the excess potassium will affect the heart muscles by letting sodium into cells thereby changing the heart rhythm ( palpitations ,athrirryimas, etc.) All this is going to lead to random and ever changing symptoms . Eventually you will die. BUT! The answer lies in front of you. Restore your glutathione reserves and top up your NAD+ . Your body will take care of the rest and repair itself in its own time. For this you NEED TO GET AN IV ! DO NOT WASTE your money and time on oral capsules , its destroyed in your stomach in seconds by the acid. Reduce ANYTHING that adds to the burden of ROS in your body IE, alcohol, smoking, stress, some medications, sugar and any exercise you break out in a sweat( anabolic) Lastly, if you want to turbo charge your recovery ,do a 3 day water only fast prior to doing the IV ( the water fast is brutal and you might feel terrible during it but your body will thank you afterwards!!) I can say I'm basically recovered and got my old life back these days, I hope you do to.

It is viral persistence. I know it coz i am long hauler and was bed ridden until month 5 when I was treated with favipiravir antiviral. Within 1st day my shortness of breath was gone. My hundreds of symtoms went away including month of fever. Antiviral made me functional. So yeah.. it is viral persistence. It would be great if Antiviral trail is done on long haulers.

People with ME/CFS that's been triggered by viral infections also have success being treated with long term antivirals (if you're reading this and have been diagnosed with long-covid or ME/CFS, look up Dr Chia), I wish it were the norm to treat us this way already and we could've avoided so much suffering. People with long-covid and ME/CFS are often ignored because all their tests come back "normal"... It's maddening.

All long covid symptoms are cardio-related, caused by the spike protein. The spike protein causes micro-clotting in the smallest capillaries. These micro blood clots can be determined by a D-dimer test. The spike protein microclots can also come from the vaccines which create the spike protein.

I had COVID, hated the idea of "dying" because the media blew it out of proportion , countries too, and wasn't sick for in a very long time, tried to do home cardio to feel more alive ... Beginning of school on Monday after isolation, I choked on water the night before but since it was late I didn't try coughing too much, and now after getting tired I can feel my heart just isn't the same, although I felt good before Monday, although it's not like I was exercising everyday. Not sure whether it's the possible heartburn, water in lungs or COVID aftereffects, but 19 yo now and feel like my body is just ready to throw away, also I am asthmatic, so not great. But now really my heart is just not there anymore, not vaccinated, but I don't think COVID is the reason, as I said I felt in perfect shape after isolation and felt mildly sick for 3 days tops, probably the stress it caused did the more damage than it could've done...

Yes you are doing the right thing focusing on your overall health - funny how the mainstream media and hand-picked government medical experts NEVER stress that the most important factor in all this is losing weight and improving the overall health. Funny how they also vilified all early-onset treatments very early on in the pandemic. Wonder why.

I have long Covid(had Covid in early March 2020) and I was like you in the sense that it didn't set in right away. I went a few weeks without any symptoms at all between getting better from the virus and then getting long Covid symptoms. It's important to have documentation of your progress or lack of in a medical setting. I've been struggling with this for 2 years now and still haven't been approved for disability even though I can't function. "Lack of evidence" is the reason why. I truly hope yours isn't this bad and don't get this bad ever but it's best to be proactive about it. Oh and ignore what they other person said about losing weight and being fit helps with diminishing the possibilities, it's not true it's actually the opposite. Healthier, fit individuals reported higher incidents of post Covid with more severe symptoms especially athletes. They've just got misinformation that fits their mindset.

@@esmeraldaoneal4044 I had not heard about the delay in Long COVID symptoms, but it makes sense. The symptoms are not necessarily caused by the same mechanisms the disease itself had. BTW, I wish you the best with the disability path. It is a devil. I have an extended family member who is truly disabled (serious memory problems, balance problems, episodic confusion). He once went to Petsmart and returned with a $200 bird; he does not remember going and does not like birds. In June it will be six weeks since the head injury that caused this, but he is repeatedly turned down. Everybody advises "don't give up, keep applying until it is approved." I also agree that the LC community has an unusually high proportion of athletes, particularly marathoners. If you have not checked out Gez Medinger's YT channel kzread.info I highly recommend it. I am not a sufferer but I understand it is a huge problem nobody wants to wrestle with. Gez (pronounced "Jez") has a broad range of videos about various aspects of Long COVID, which he has dealt with for almost two years now. I am especially impressed by "The Great Experiment: Can Activity Play a Role in Long Covid Recovery?" that shows it is possible (just not simple) for carefully managed recreation to actually improve symptoms.

Paradoxically, a lot of Long COVID sufferers were athletes before being infected. As I learned more I "met" more marathoners than in any other community I had ever seen. Remarkably few were what we would consider "couch potatoes" and few were obese. Gez Medinger, the creator of the RUN-DMC / Gez Medinger YT channel (DMC is for his Delorean Motor Car) at kzread.info was doing half marathons before he was infected and has been trying to relieve the crushing fatigue for two years. He has learned a lot about what helps and what makes it worse... overdoing it is the #1 "make it worse" thing. Do not live in fear, live in knowledge. I’ve been dealing with similar symptoms for 7 months. I’ve been to many doctors/specialist and no body can find anything wrong. On paper I appear healthy but I feel like I’m dying inside. I didn’t get the vaccine and I’m not sure if I had Covid prior to this. It started as massive palpitations sick stomach and headaches then progressed to some scary symptoms. I’ve always been healthy and active now I can’t. I’m 27 and having heart problems. I’m personally having bradycardia and none of the doctors seem to care. Just say it’s anxiety.
