right from their birth inject them selenium ( against white muscle paralysis. the back legs can be paralyzed. the lack of selenium can cause sudden death by heart attack) and also vitamin B complex ( when lacking the animal will go crazy and its neck will be bend) both of them once in a month according to the prescribed dosage of the manufacturer. if kids are dying suddenly just few days after birth then also inject them 10ml of 5% glucose serum injection under the skin in the lower part of their belly. dont forget also to do the different vaccines. what you have to understand is that no sheepfold is equal to another one and problems are quite different. if u are living in a country where the soil is rich in selenium then you will not have selenium deficiency problem. in my farm this is what I do when a kid is born: -cleaning of the navel with a soft disinfectant -injection of 3ml of selenium -injection of 2ml of vitamin B complex -injection of 10ml to 30ml of 5% glucose serum injection under the skin in the lower part of their belly everyday until they 2 weeks old. the glucose gives them energy. its the same that is used in hospitals to energize weak patients. -injection of 1ml of clostridium vaccine mixte with 1ml of penstrep (penicillin streptomycin to avoid any infection in the navel). renew the clostridium vaccine 2 or 3 weeks later with normal dose. above all make sure the baby gets at least 400ml of the first milk of the mother which is called colostrum before 24 hours because after 24 hours the intestine wall becomes selective and them the antibodies in the milk can not cross the insestine wall anymore. if the baby can not suck breast by itself then remove the milk from the mother in a bottle and feed the baby yourself. this is very important.
