    Since you have the vacuum pump you should get a vacuum chamber. Then you can get all the bubbles out of the Epoxy. then you will get glass like effect. For surface bubbles you probably know a blow torch is used.

    I’d suggest using Fusion 360 as you can model parametrically which make changes very easy. You can turn a 24” cabinet into a 36” cabinet with one parameter change.

    I shy away from Mosaik because of the costs and unless you are a full time cabinet shop or have the excess funds to spare Mosaik isn’t a great option.

    @@Human_OU812 I mean you can afford the CNC. I'm sure you can afford $150 a month for what you're selling. I'm a small cabinet shop and I have KCD software which is similar to mosaic. It's a little bit more expensive but mosaic does do more. But KCD helps me because it's my design software as well. Something like how you would use with mosaic. So if you're going to sell cabinets to a client, you can use mosaic to design the kitchen and then you can run mosaic to make your cabinets. It will pay itself off

    Hi Jay, I might have it and could send it to you if I do. It would have to be modified for your specific thickness of material etc though

    Congratulations on the new CNC. Really nice projects using the CNC. What model Laguna CNC did you get and what options? I’ve always wanted a CNC but know very little about them. Does Laguna help out getting the unit setup and running and some instruction on all their machines or just on the bigger machines like you have? Thanks for your time. Just found this video, checked out your channel and subscribed. 😊 Ron

    Thanks Ron! I got the Smartshop M2 from Laguna. Laguna has been great with their help and support from the beginning. You have to pay an extra fee for someone to travel out and help with setup. Otherwise they are always available to help on the phone and with other resources for free.

    Hi Matt! Enjoyed watching your video especially the one where you make the table and chair for your granddaughter. I just purchased a used Laguna iQ 24 X 36 and trying to learn the Vcarve software. Where could l find the design for the table and chair? Thanks Dale in OKC

  • @ModernArtisan

    @ModernArtisan

    Жыл бұрын

    Hey Dale, that's just a plan I drew up in Vcarve. Pretty simple. I could maybe send it to you but the problem is all the kerfs are cut within thousands of an inch of a specific material I was using. And all those shapes would have to change based on your material--not to mention cutting depths. Good luck with your CNC!

  • @mrowenhorst

    I had plenty of failures--and test runs to try out something new. If I do some videos on one specific item I will detail those. This video covered from May to October, so basically 4 months starting at knowing zero about CNC and Vcarve to now where I'm getting pretty comfortable. Thanks for watching!!

    I haven't worked with epoxy yet but want to try. I'm curious: do you clean the containers and ketchup bottles for multiple uses or are they only good for a single use? If you do clean them, what do you use for clean up? Thanks and such an awesome CNC. Cheers!

  • @ModernArtisan

    @ModernArtisan

    I do not reuse those bottles since they're so cheap, it's not really worth it to me. But when I clean things like the mixing paddle I use lacquer thinner. Thanks!

  • @ModernArtisan

    I think I do have them and don't mind sharing. The problem is that the kerf slots for the male inserts are set to the thousands of an inch to the specific material I'm using and so all of those would have to be modified for whatever thickness someone else is using and so that can get tricky

  • @briturner11

    How loud did the machine turn out to be? In many of the clips you are standing close to the machine with no ear protection. Was it quiet enough for that?

  • @ModernArtisan

    @ModernArtisan

    Жыл бұрын

    It depends. The safe answer is always wear hearing protection. The dust extractor is noisy but not terrible, the vac for the table is quite loud and somewhat high pitched, but what really can be the biggest offender is the cutting process (bit on material) but this totally depends on what you're cutting. Some materials/bits/tool paths are quiet and others are intolerable. If I'm not running the vac table and I'm using smaller bits, it's not bad so I sometimes don't use hearing protection. Side note: If you know what it should sound like, the noise from the cutting can be a red flag that your feed rate is too fast, etc.
