This only proves for flat roads not for roads with bumps/ potholes. Also in Australia we call the shocks dampers. It might be good to do another test on a bumpy road or to change the name to let people know it’s not for bumpy roads.

The car will make a jolting thump noise if you hit a bump on the road because their is no gas/ air in the dampers/ shocks which means the springs are under a lot of force which I do t think is to good for the car. I’m no specialist but that is just what I think so someone let me know otherwise

When you drive on bumpy unpaved road then then the result is same with shocks or wthout shocks and spring. i think just springs are good for all type of roads.

Thanks for the Aussie vocab lesson, I think dampers provides a much better explanation of what they do.

A test without 1 shock out of 4 is meaningless. 3 tests are needed. 1. Both front shocks out. Back 2 in. 2. Both back shocks out. Front 2 in. 3. All 4 shocks out. Do these and show us the results. You won't be saying, "Yes. You can drive without shocks." A very dangerous thing to say to the public!!!

I think you just helped me gained confidence on driving my worn out struts and shocks however I would like to find out how it feels when you’re speeding and braking…is it making you have to drive with more difficulty since the weight is more now without any shocks considering safety matters?

I have the same year, make and model with only 93k miles on my lovely ride. I plan to keep her looking and riding good! It is nice seeing how your auto has over 207k miles.... This is very inspiring!👌 My baby just started making a “clunking” noise near the passenger wheel area. I did inspect the shock absorber and noticed two patches of rust. Last Spring I was told (by Mercedes Tech) I needed to replace shocks & coil springs on both sides. I am waiting for parts from Germany. I enjoy driving my auto and plan to keep up the maintenance on my pretty ride!😃 So, please keep the service videos coming! Also, are you planning to upgrade the stereo system? I have wanted a new music/phone/GPS system for a couple of years and could never commit. Yikes! Thank you. A Midwest Resident

You are correct!....I was told the “Upper Left Front Control Arm needs to be replaced.” Hmmm....So, which one? Is it the left while standing under my car (aka driver’s side) or the left when standing in-front of the car (aka passenger’s side)? I also need new wheel bearings. Thanks

Throw shocks. No need really. I always remove shocks and use strong springs.
