And guess who rides his bicycle up... It's Dave, this was one year before Chappelle show was about to hit TV screens so nobody recognized him in Starbucks except Me and my buddy who were big potheads in high school and saw the movie half baked prolly a gazillion times at that point so that's how I recognized him, I asked him about the movie n he said "ya I wrote the script in about an hour" .. I don't think I would call it a mid life crisis. he did the responsible thing and he chose his kids over anything else. I'm sure that he missed comedy when he was on hiatus and he probably never really wanted to quit forever. just listening to him it sounds like he made his comeback at the right time in his life where he can deal with being without his family for stretches of time at a time. im glad he came back. because I can't wait to see him live whenever that date is

No, I did that too. I went from working in 20 different non-union machine shops, (where the skill is), and paid my way through 3 college degrees, (2 of them, 4 year engineering degrees in manufacturing), and for all that time since the early 80's , while we sent our opportunity, the basis of wealth accumulation, (manufacturing) to communism. I was just over poverty the entire time, and struggling at times to the point of not knowing where my next meal was coming from, (a couple of times). Then I started a business, and in the little recreational industry I am in, (RC cars mostly), I have become known and respected around the world. Not rich,---but I have not counted my change since 2007, and I was able to upgrade to a new home and shop. The USA was "The Land Of Opportunity", and I don't want to be the last to find some. We need to demand our individual liberty back, and we need to demand our free enterprise system back. We, free people, invented the free enterprise system. Both our freedom and our free enterprise system? They both belong to us. It is people following the philosophies of communism who are stealing those from us, and there don't seem to be any leaders for the philosophies of human liberty that created the USA in the first place.

I went to the comedy fest in Hartford the following year (Dave got booed off stage at the same venue the year prior) Louis CK was headlining- we saw aziz, Atell, Sarah Silverman, and many more, Louie closed his 2 hour set with “ladies and gentleman, Dave Chappelle.” We laughed because we thought it was a joke. To our surprise Dave came out and tore the place up for 25 minutes and he got an 8 minute standing ovation. One of the best nights of my life.

I admire him so much for choosing his family over being crazy rich. He really gets what’s important in life.

I went on a school trip from DC to NYC in early 2002 n when we were going to see the lion King on Broadway which was the biggest thing on Broadway at that point we all stopped at the Starbucks in times Square first.. Got his autograph on a Starbucks napkin.. A year later Chapelle show becomes the biggest show ever, I'll never forget that night in times square
