When I was a 7 y/o kid on school, I had a "black" friend, we loved to draw Sonic, and share the drawings with each other with pride on our progress. He was my best friend. My teachers explained to me that he was "black" and I was "white", because I didn't even knew that there was a diference between us. I only thought that I had a friend who liked Sonic as much as me, and that's all I cared. I wish they never told me that the skin was an important difference that would mean that I could disrespect him with something I could or say or do. Because when they told me to be respectful with him because "his people" had a worse past than "my people", I just started to avoid him, didn't wanted to make him feel bad. I was scared of hurting him... Now I know the wrong thing was to tell me that we were different, because we are not. At least not on that. He draw much better than me.

@@wowamber5107 - tbf, it’s been really hard this past year. I used to be severely depressed. To the point where I was unable to get out of bed at all for months and my husband had to wake me up to eat dinner once a day after he came home from work. My brain had had enough and wanted to die. It was really hard time for me. Lots of personal losses and much of it was triggered by thinking that my husband didn’t love me. I was really really bad for a few months and then I was partially functional but then relapsed to the severe “pit of despair” depression again 1.5 years later after another loss in my family. I finally snapped out of it by taking some edibles offered by a neighbor and having a sit down therapy session by myself and my pets (good to get/give hugs during the session). I realized that my husband did love me and that I shouldn’t be focusing on all the negatives in my life (my dad passing, having a miscarriage, hating myself). I basically rewired my brain that night. If you don’t want to use or are unable to use edibles or other drug therapy, then I recommend CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) which is a therapy that tries to help you rewire your brain. Much of depression is due to your brain continuing to repeatedly fire the neurons that trigger your sadness. So trying to reroute the paths that fire different neurons to get your brain away from depression is what CBT does. Good luck to you. Depression is such a debilitating hardship. I hope you find a path to joy again. Just know that YOU have the power to regain that joy. You will find it again. Don’t give up.

It's also like anyone can learn to cook any dish on the planet if they're willing to take the time to learn (Case in point I'm not Italian and I make excellent Lasagna, I'm also not Indo-Aryan and I make excellent Saag Paneer).

When you live in a society that you and your people benefit from due to the centuries of colonization, and oppression and white people as collective have yet to hold their own family members and communities accountable and dismantle the system they benefit from so people can no just be equal. Equality doesn't mean shit. Equality doesn't do anything for black people or any person of color. It's equity that is needed and for some reason white people as a collective don't want that. it's crazy to see white people act all kumbaya now when they don't experience the lives generationally of the people that have suffered and assume because we weren't slaves and yall aren't plantation owners that these people don't suffer from this in multiple ways.
