    Why send 3 players to make this whole situation unnecessarily confusing. I know they were trying to foul the cowboys but it backfired. Also the ref announced on the mic number 70 right is eligible for the whole stadium why didn’t the lions say something when they heard the wrong number was called?

    @@mustaphagai5031 why does it have to be constantly explained to you people. Every aspect of these trick plays were explained to the referees before the game. Even drawn up for them. The Trick play involved exactly what happened. It wouldn't be a trick play if they didn't have multiple players approach the referee and confuse the other team. Why is it so hard for you to understand this? If you still can't understand it maybe you should go back to playing with barbies.

    @@cryingleftists2290 do they explain to ref that they will be sending 3 players to pretend to be reporting for the same position or is it just two players they explain to him? We will never know because we weren’t there. Also I have been watching the game for long time and have seen many teams goes for 2 Pts conversations without all this drama and at close games as well. By the way if the ref screwed up that call, then both Dallas and lions were screwed because there was a one bad call on dallas before 2 minutes warning that could have ended the game there. @@mustaphagai5031 bad calls and non calls happen all the time but this was more than that. If you knew how Cambell works he is known to be very detailed that is why he was so pissed. The ref even looked at 68 and nodded at him an mouthed something to him. By the reaction it kind of looked like you would say to someone I got it then went to the other team. Watch the video and zoom in on it more. It's not like it's just the Lions, there has been a lot of suspicious calls around the league and it is getting worse. In the NFL, the numbers 50-79, and 90-99 are deemed ineligible numbers. However, the NFL permits someone wearing these numbers to "report as eligible" to the referee before they line up. Once they do so, and the referee has announced to everyone that "X" is eligible, that player must still line up in one of the eligible positions listed in point one (behind the LOS, or as an END on the LOS). If they were to line up as an "interior lineman," they would no longer be eligible.

    Offensive linemen (numbers 50-79) don't go out for pass plays because legally, they can't. That's just the rules of the game. If the offense brings in a lineman to go out for a pass, this would give them an unfair advantage because the defense is expecting that lineman to block. It's all to keep things fair between the offense and the defense.

  • @billyhill7630

    @billyhill7630

I understand the need for some of them to be on the field, but I imagine it is much easier for most of them to see what they need to see from up there. Work with the TV crews to make sure we get additional cameras in the places that we need them to be able to officiate. I can't really see any reason why we should need more than 2 or 3 on the field. Referee to do announcements & then a Line Judge & Back Judge. 2. Everything ought to be up for review/debate with the booth crew. possession

That visual indication by #70 really complicates the Lions' suggestion that #70 did not report. The other side of the coin from the Lions' fans, the only reason #68 was that open is because his number indicates his is not eligible, and there was no announcement otherwise. Imagine the uproar when an ineligible receiver beat them due to the wrong # being announced. Especially after the personal foul for tripping that was on the Lions, on Dallas' last possession with the penalty assessed against the Cowboys. At least if the 2 pt conv. was Allen's mistake it ended up being a do-over.

    Every play in the NFL could be a penalty between holding and pass interference alone, to say nothing of all the other legitimate calls. When you make every play a penalty, and you call it a minority of the time each game, you're choosing who to penalize and when. It's exactly the same as nothing being a penalty and calling them sometimes, you're tipping the scales at your whim.
