The hero’s grave at the library has the Mushroom. This one’s easy, the magician knows lots of magic, and mushrooms have been in the eyes of researchers for a long time. The quarry has the potion upgrade. Ash is common in mines. The tooth is in the East forest. The East forest is where all the guards and the guard captain is, so it’s easy to say that’s where a place of strength is. The west garden is where the defense upgrade is. I’ve theorized for a long time the the west garden used to be where the original “palace” was, so that might have something to do with it. Maybe with the fact that it looks like a statue of a fox? Why health, or flowers has anything to do with a vault or siege engine?, I have no clue. I think the graves might be more like effigy’s in real life. In real life, the pope has something called an effigy, where it says the pope is buried there, when in reality, the pope is buried where he wanted to be buried, so that people can see his grave, without his body being there. The hero can’t die, and if they give up they literally disappear, so its unlikely the hero’s grace is really a grave. You need to know how to pray to enter the hero’s grave, so it’s likely they made the collectible effigy’s for people who can’t/won’t pray.

Is it six separate graves or one grave linked by a strange monument? What memories can be found from each? This is part 1 and here we'll take a closer look at the offerings we make the heir and the Hero's Grave near the Cathedral. If you use discord, this is a Tunic community discord with all sorts of awesome theories and resources. :) discord.gg/AFq6PARqJA Or if you prefer, this is my personal server: discord.gg/jZxPFAGk5s

There is still a wealth of secrets to uncover in this game. Though, there are things that are....off. One thing would be the various enemies in the game. Rudelings....Empty Shells of Soldier that have forgotten why they fight. Possibly connected to the conflict against the Disquiet Beings in ages past? The same could be said for the Garden Knight and Siege Engine. The Fairies (the stone constructs) could be part of the security system of the Ancient Civilization, like the Autobolts. The Spyrite, Sappharach, Slorms, Chompignons, Hushers, Crabbo/Crabbits are just the wildlife of the Island. Though, Disquiet magic can affect them. The Frogs are a bit of a mystery, but they keep to their domain in the Ruined Atoll. But the fact they raise Slorms in their domain does suggest that they are smart enough to use animal husbandry. There could be more that we can infer from the environment. Fleemers are the Undead. Though, I do question just what exactly is reanimating them. Phrends are described as Disquiet fragments that dwell in skulls that want to taste everything. This makes me ponder if the Disquiet Beings control them, or if the Phrends are autonomous fragments. The Lost Echoes are the hostile echoes of Fallen Ruin Seekers. They are described as Echoes of Self from a Past Ruin Seeker whose owner gave up. Does that mean that the Seeker gave up on reclaiming their echoes? Or something else? Then we have the Custodians and Scavengers. They both have canid features, suggesting biological kinship to the Vulpine-esque Ruin-Seekers and the ancient civilization of the past. Custodians being master of Disquiet magics, and potentially the Holy Cross. I have noticed that some Custodians wield staffs instead of candlesticks. The Scavengers being more technologically oriented, and a lot more burly compared to Custodians. Then we have the Envoys. They look similar to Custodians, but are armed with a spear and shield. But their description in the Instruction manual is...odd. "More questions than answers". What does that sentence mean exactly? Does it mean that the Envoys were Custodians but grew frustrated with a lack of answers and left the group? Or is the Booklet itself questioning what they are? And the title 'Envoy' has several meanings. But the most common meaning a messenger or a person deputed by a ruler or government to negotiate a treaty or transact other business with a foreign ruler or government. If their name is literal, then who are the Envoys working for? And who are they working with? They are often in the company of Rudelings, and Custodians if I remember correctly. Then we have creatures that aren't necessarily mentioned in the booklet at all. The Corrupted Seekers in the Cathedral, the odd Phrend-like tentacles in water of the Old Burying Ground. The Cube-robots that we encounter in the Ziggurat. The odd creatures that look like they are made of floating shards. The Slime like creatures. There are the spider-like energy creatures that appear out of nowhere. The odd skeletal Fox like entity that seems to be infused with possibly Disquiet magic augmented by the Holy Cross. The same type of creature that is in the obelisk/sarcophagi across the map. And then there is an odd type of creature in the Old Burying Ground. I have seen them on videos where players go to the graveyard in daylight before the Heir strikes us down the first time. Tall, dark figures. They seems to slide or glide across the ground. I can't tell if their heads are canid like the Custodians/Envoys, or more avian, akin to a plague-doctor's mask. They do have limbs, as I have seen them draw guns like the scavengers...I think. I have no idea what these entities are. There are a lot of secrets in this game. And there could be some interesting ideas one can infer from the various enemies and environment of the locations. Still, we can only speculate.

I just finished playing Tunic and adored it! Genuinely such a fun and refreshing game, challenging, beautiful, rewarding, an instant classic feel. I felt pretty satisfied with the base experience, and turned to KZread to explore other people's takes on it, and stumbled on your videos...and I'm totally hooked! Have immediately binged all your vids, your one on the Librarian especially was awesome and gave me a much deeper appreciation for that (super tough to beat) character! As well as your Ziggurat exploration and the implications of the miasma creatures existing long before the fox civilisation...now I adore the game even more realising there's so much fascinating depth behind the setting! I enjoy your way of speaking and presenting information, as well as your clear passion for this project making it so enjoyable to follow along with. Eagerly subscribed to your channel and looking forward to more lore explorations!

just realized the fossils of self must be the infinite versions of the ruin seeker that beat the heir and then were beaten in turn. its whats left of their spirit after they soaked in the far shore for however long and then were killed. since the far shore spilling over into the canonical plane caused time to break it reasons that linear time isnt a thing in the far shore itself allowing the hero/firstheir to find the future/alternate versions of themself, the cycle starting itself.

I was just thinking -- the world of Tunic (when playing in English) uses the English language, just written in runic phonemes. It would be frustrating to go to the fox shopkeeper, ask for "The flour, please" and have them bring you a flower instead.

Another great video! Love the exploration of the games iconography and Im particularly invested in analyzing the colours of the various glowy macguffins. I think you mentioned a theory in one of your earlier videos about how the red, blue, and green powers might be natural to this world, maybe even associated with its magic-using inhabitants, whereas the pink stuff is all artificial and eeeeeeevil. Would really appreciate some conjecture about the different flavours of magic we're dealing with.

It is definitely one in the pipeline. This is another BIG topic. Color and magic are so multifaceted in this game and I really want to make sure I do them the justice they deserve!

The comment about the stamina grave being found alongside the laurel made me realize that the pink color of the miasma and the green color of the stamina bar are complimentary colors to one another, whether that's intentional or coincidental though is entirely beyond me
