i think Ben Danford will be a top 4 one day, he blocks alot of shots

This guys clueless where did he come from he not the usual guys
Steve Ellis obviously didn't watch the 1st round of the draft, as a ton of guys were at the combine & as a result, had up to date metrics. Danford, when he was selected was shown at 6 feet, 1 & 3/4 inches tall & 196 lbs. Ellis described Danford "as only 6 foot" when he's only 1/4 " shy of 6' 2". He is virtually the same size as Chris Tanev. Danford turned 18 just 4 months ago, so he will likely be well over 200 lbs by the time he's 20. Derek Laxdal his Oshawa Generals head coach, described him as "Chris Tanev, but with offence". I have almost no doubt Danford plays in the NHL hopefully for the Leafs. In 2-3 years I'll be curious to see where Danford ranks up vs Solberg, Emery, Badinka or Elick, other D taken at roughly the same point in the draft. Wes Clark claimed Danford was their primary target vs the guys Mr. Ellis thought were better in Emery & Elick. Danford was rated the #1 defensive D-man in an OHL coaches poll this past season & was ranked #2 in shot blocks. Excellent pick.

He can still grow as some kids have late growth spurts as well. He can fill it out regardless with lean muscle, protein protein protein. Just all depends how much he really wants it…. That’s the kicker for any of millennials nowadays…. Diff mindset

@@koskara1314 Even if he stays at 6' 2" & 196 lbs. that's Tanev size frankly & listening to people connected to scouting him, he plays the right way. He has a mean streak, is an outstanding skater. Wes Clark & Tree think he's got untapped offence. My amateur opinion is he's a Leaf in maximum 3 yrs, or possibly sooner. Good pick.

@@bigdave8437 ok I’ll bite, but I bet they want the guy before whom the rangers drafted. Why you might ask…. Sure … actions speak…. Notice how Toronto waited a while to make the selection…. If they really wanted that guy from Ottawa then would have drafted him much quicker and not let the time run down so much….

@@koskara1314 What guy from Ottawa? Do you mean 'Oshawa'? I assume you do. What I know is RD are hard to find. The guy still available at #23 (Solberg) was a LD. Anaheim wanted him & thus the delay. Toronto gambled they could still get Danford at 31 given that a lot of draft boards had him rated lower than Toronto & Elite Prospects, who had him at 30. Clark said if Solberg was gone, then Anaheim wouldn't have traded to move up & then the Leafs would have taken Danford at 23. That's all.
