FOLLOW UP EDIT: Just finished the video (I leave my like and comment and then watch because it’s happening no matter what.) I actually laughed out loud when the 3 landed. The game wants to be played, it now calls out to you, just as I do. An easy barrier to entry, an impossible hell to escape. That makes this video “4 (1 of 3)”, which will be my new format for the count when I comment because I’m nerdy and like that stuff. Also, how about this, after I hit the quota, which I will, you make a check on 2D20(additive) and that’s the NEXT countdown. If you don’t feel like that’s enough, maybe a D66? Or maybe you don’t want to do any more Mork Borg, and that’s okay. I’ll be happy with what I got. I love your channel man. One thing that took a minute to click for me was the idea of buying a rules set or a full game with the intent of using the resources with a different rules set. I use the source material for Forbidden Lands quite a bit. I actually grabbed that as well as the Zweihänder really just to mine inspiration and tables. Speaking of, both Knave and Cairn are also outstanding for their tables. Into the Odd is just cool in every way possible. Electric Bastionland looks amazing, but I just can't with the shipping cost right now.

you can also solo lots of rpgs games with an oracle like mythic

For the procedurally generated games, in the end you’re playing the algorithm. You have to enjoy the moment-to-moment play and be surprised and get highs when the algorithm presents you something outside the bell curve. These can be fun, when done right.

Super intrigued by thousand empty light and also those mapmaking games. I've been playing thousand dead worlds and loving learning about all these vastly different games. Ironsworn is great but its nice to know theres a lot of other kinds of experiences to be had in this space

so much for everyone to enjoy! mapmaking games are a unique experience all their own but I find them to be the most relaxing for me. I can think of a whole ship/colony/city rather than looking through the pov of one person which is a more intimate type of stress

I actually borrowed the book and started playing a bit of Starforged after being inspired by you to try something made specifically for solo roleplaying. I guess the way I feel about it right now is the same way I feel about journaling games. I need crunch. I like doing the math. Right now it feels like I'm playing chess with no rules and I can just sweep the board with the queen. But maybe it'll grow on me, I'll give it a few more sessions. I want to get better at roleplaying, so maybe removing the crunch element will help grow those muscles faster. It'll tide over my sci-fi cravings until Starfinder 2e comes out at least. God knows I'll never get brave enough to fall into the solo shadowrun rabbit hole.

When there is a solo RPG culture War it's just a bunch of people talking to themselves.

Great video! Have you looked at all at solo games that emulate a party, letting you play the role of GM, instead of emulating the GM while you play a PC? I recently found the solo rules pdf for Cloud Empress and found them intriguing. It randomly generates a set of persoanlity traits for each character in the party, and then in any given situation you can roll to see which personality trait comes to the forefront.

I like Dave from Dungeon Dive but I prefer your chanel because you actually play games and not only review them. I like RPGs because of the narration of a story so so it is good learning a game while hearing a gameplay. (I don't care if it is live play or recorded with editing). And also, it is interesting to see how other people are (solo) playing RPGs.

If you HAD to solo The Burning Wheel which of these methods would you use...

Where would you place Scarlet Heroes? I kind of think it'd be part of another category called...um...'bolt-ons', in that they're a standalone rpg system, but with a useful solo system included. Also, regarding your dust bowl idea, you may want to read 'The Circus of Dr. Lao' by Charles G. FInney. DO NOT watch the movie with Tony Randall-it's just...it's just safer that way. The book is fascinating, working with the idea that even the supernatural might be affected by economic devastation. And it's, for lack of a better term, a hoot.

I mean, if you don't talk on social media(no major app understands nuance), or in places where someone else can be sued for your choices, you can say all sorts of things without people yelling at or dog piling you.(Though I personally don't recommend being judgemental or insulting, because most people hate that.)
