How to SOLO play MÖRK BORG (Using Sölitary Defilement)

Ойындар

In this video we do the following:
1 - talk about MÖRK BORG as a phenomenon
2 - give MÖRK BORG background lore (as much as is possible)
3 - explain rules of MÖRK BORG core play
4 - explain core rules of solo MÖRK BORG using solitary defilement
5 - do a little bit of Session zero-ing by creating my character.
@DesertDwellerSoloGaming I know this doesn't count as my playthrough, that is still coming this month!!!

Hell yeah. Mork Borg was my introduction to RPGs, and solo RPGs as well! Really excited to dig into this video. I have 2 seasons (1 finished, 1 unfinished) of playthroughs of Mork Borg using Solitary Defilement on my channel, and I've written a book that supplements Solitary Defilement with a bunch of extra material called Solitary Depths. I just sent over a coupon for a free version of the physical version to your e-mail. Hope you like it! Edit: Love your custom character sheets, I do the same for a lot of my solo RPG sessions! Also, hey, I have those same d2 skull coins, haha.

Is there a table for weak hits? Something like: 1-You lost something in the attempt (theft, breakage, respect, etc.,). 2-Your outcome is half as effective. 3-It's harder than you thought. Abandon the task, or push through (-1 hp). 4-The task takes twice as long. (Treat as 3 in combat.) 5-Your success has made things worse in the near future. 6-Your confidence is shaken. You must try a different approach next time.

"Today on Man Alone" - 15 minutes of waffling later - "So anyway, I picked up this stick of Chorizo and I thought, 'I can probably solo this.' It's 15 centimeters long, so we'll be using 2d20 and try to roll under it's length on at least one of the dice." *Waves the chorizo around* "Every time neither die lands under, I fail the roll and I'll have to take a bite out of it, that means the game gets harder as the chorizo gets shorter and shorter. Either I have a different version of Mörk Borg or this is some sort of Mandela Effect but you don't go down the dice ladder for the calendar... I recently heard multiple KZreadrs mentioning this but it definitly isn't in my book... I just checked. I read the rule as you choose this before the start of the game and stick with it... Thus a d100 is some miserable years

You are entirely correct. There is no rule in the rules as written that the die size must be degraded with each new Misery - the die size listing is simply to give an idea of how long a campaign would tend to last (measured in game days) based on the die size chosen by the GM and players when initiating the campaign.

I think Morg Borg is one of the easiest TTRPG to play solo because the rules are one page and they can be so easy modified for custom setting. You don’t nees to play in the Morg Borg universe. The best thing about MB is the player facing rolls which simplifies the game and also the monster stats. HP, damage, motivation is all you need.

Note those Crawl sheets etc you were looking for are downloadable from the 1d10+5 page. Love me the 4 ability and really low detail of Mork Borg and Forbidden Psalm. It feels so much more like Vance's the Dying Earth where even the most Brilliant Mage's can only cram 4 spells into their brains. And because Forbidden Psalm is a Solo and or COOP game, and uses the identical rules and stats but bridges the gap to using miniatures and a tabletop I will use Solitary Defilement to enhance play. Seriously I hope you have looked at Forbidden Psalm and Cloth Goblins.

When you mentioned the d&d books about them having things in them that won't really be used I agree, but 5e is my mine game the way I see it is more like a menu at a restaurant, I use the core system and throw out alot of rules and just do it narratively or simplify it, it flows quite well then, I think the idea of d&d is to make it your own, if I can't be bothered with certain things eg travel rules ; I'll just do it narratively and estimate the time it takes to get to the chosen location just remembering the 24miles per day.

Over-description bad. Let me create the world, not be spoon fed a bunch of needless description. But hey different strokes for different folks

I feel like merely the amount of pages in mork borg really illustrates the difference between the two. There are rules for everything in d&d. Whats the point of my DM? Simple OSR games are toolsets that allow way more creativity and take maybe an hour to read the whole rulebook a few times. 5e is thick, it still feels simple, theres all sorts of rules that piss me off (sorry you gotta drop that shield to cast a spell or take a feat) and on top of that, most of the subclasses are hyper specific archtypes that dont really fit all vibes. I got what man alone was saying. Im a 5e vet and i used to love it... before i looked into other rules light systems

You should not give into cyberstalkers. I'll just continue to encourage you to play other solo games. This will spiral out of control into a psychotic depressive state where you are driven by random texts in your comment section and no longer have any self-control. 😊

not only do I understand an envious unsubscribe, I encourage it. Having jealousy in my inner court of subscribers will only lead to backstabbing!!!

Does a pat of butter count? 🧇🧇 Speaking of food, I need to stop listening to your videos while I'm eating because one of these days one of your surprise attack sardonic statements is going to make me aspirate my Cream of Wheat.
