What are the BEST Cover Crops for the Fall
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Why grow cover crops? This is a topic many gardeners need help with. When growing any cover crop, even fall and winter cover crops is extremely important to know which you should be growing in your garden. Before planting a cover crop, identify which benefits or goals (weed suppression, fall grazing, taking up excess nutrients, reducing soil compaction, etc.) are most important. Since it is early September, it is time to start thinking about fall and winter cover crops!

Enjoyed the show tonight! Greg i'm with you on the Carolina Gold, i grew them this year and they produced very well for a longer period of time than my other determinate tomatoes, they are low acid and don't have very much of a flavor. I gave some plants to a friend and him and his wife love them, it is a matter of taste. Looking forward to all the new varieties for next year, keep up the great work!

I grew the Carolina Gold this year, but will not grow it again. I prefer acidic tomatoes, and this one seemed bland to me. In fact, so far I'm not a fan of yellow tomatoes except the Sun Gold and Yellow Pear which are more the grape/cherry size. The only yellow full size tomato I plan to try is the Chef's Choice Yellow. If it doesn't make a difference, then I'll be done with yellow tomatoes. I will add I'm really loving the black or purple varieties: Paul Robeson, Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, and Carbon; next year I plan to add some cherry size purple varieties.
This will be my first year to plant cover crops. I'm excited about trying it, especially the Daikon radish.i have some tough soil. I also want to plant some Thom multiplying onions and wondered when they will be available?

I plant super sweet 100 cherry tomatoes every year. Another cherry tomato I plant. It's called Barry's crazy cherry from wild boar farms. It's a sweet, thin skin yellow cherry tomato. And oval or grape shape tomato. It grows in clusters like grapes. The plants are extremely loaded. Extremely good grower.

I'm mowing down and tilling in my Sun Hemp today. I only got about 6 weeks of growth on it, but I want to go ahead and get my Kodiack Brown Mustard down, so it's coming down today. I had a pretty big problem with those pesky nematodes in my okra, so I'm trying to smack'um hard before spring. I'm guessing since you should wait 2-3 weeks to replant, that applies to the mustard seed too right? Just making sure.

Too spicy for Hoss. You can eat it if you like the spicy taste. Just a preference.
Greg mentioned the Super Bee Phacelia lowering nematode population by 30%. What percentage would you say the Kodiack Brown Mustard takes care of? I want to do as much damage to the nematode problem as possible.
@gardeningwithhoss

We don't have a percentage, but it does work even better than the Super Bee. You must follow specific protocol for it to be effective though. See article below. mightymustard.com/nematode-control/
